  • Your clean sound is slightly distorted, are you aware of this?

  • Do you ever get the feeling it kills your initial attack? I'm a bit scared to buy it as the gate from the fullbore metal pedal tends to kill the attack of the first note that needs to open the gate, and I'm not sure whether it uses (part) of the same circuit or not.

  • @Sick1982 Turn the knob to full and it does definitely kill it, I've started using it at about 11 oclock on the dial and it sounds great for me now. It all depends on your gain and volume though.

As far as the initial attack I don't think it does, no. I'd recommend this pedal anyday!

  • shredding takes so much skill

  • does this change the amount of gain or sustain taht you get?

  • @polishskaterdude32 It can do, I've noticed that the gain/sustain starts to be reduced when the dial is set to 50% or more. The more you have the less gain and less noise there is. You can find a setting that best suits you easily though (:

  • Reading the previous comments about putting this pedal last in the chain: What happens to the echoes from ur delay pedal? Wont they be reduced drasticly by this pedal?

  • @stormshadow2k Your delay pedal would be going through an effects loop surely...

  • SYLOSIS! Kick ASS!!!

  • I think that you should turn the gain down and put an overdrive in front of your amp and voilá, awesome tone

  • @themaggot8 It is something I've thought about doing.

  • @insatanwetrustslave Try it dude, you will love the results..

  • I got a question, although it may be a little off topic., but I have a CAE wah pedal going though the front of my amp and mxr micro chorus and carbon copy delay pedal going though the effects loop. When i have my amp up at high volumes, it does hiss and feedback a lot and i wanna get the smart gate to get rid of it. Question is though, where in the chain do i put it? after the wah pedal into the front of the amp? or in the effects loop after the delay pedal? PLEASE HELP ME! :)

  • @MrExplorerman101 The MXR would be the first thing going into the amp so in the case of my amp you'd have your wah to the right of the pedal.

  • @insatanwetrustslave Alright cool! Thanks!

  • @MrExplorerman101 haven't actually used a noisegate before logic dictates it would go last ch, to mute any hum/feedback from anything else in the chain

  • @greendayforever2k9 You're absolutely correct, it should go last in the chain [so the first pedal coming out of your input]

Sorry for not seeing this comment earlier!

  • Yea just got it. 'Hi Trigger Range' Kills the tone immensely

... however I think it makes to be ideal for recording takes of really choppy gappy spaced out 1 note riffs as you tend to get too much overwhelming scratchy presence for those kind of riffs. Either way the normal trigger range is fine.

  • @samathanwataguan okay i'm exaggerating about 'immensely' but significantly. Not to the point where it sounds shit..

  • Can this power other effects like the boss ns-2 pedal??

  • @THEGUYD0WNTHESTREET This doesn't power stuff...it reduces feedback from amps.

  • Hello! Thanx a lot for review!

I am going to buy a noise reduction pedal and don't know what to choose. Decimator or MXR. I have a few MXR pedals already so I incline to Dunlop more but can you tell me if it kills the attack? It is hard to say clearly judging by a video. :S

    Thanx!

  • @147147Nick Unfortunately I've never owned a Decimator so I couldn't help you! I think this does keep the attack depending on how far you have the high trigger set.

The more you set it the less crap comes through but more of the tone gets sucked out, I have mine set to 50%

  • Somebody is into Sylosis :-)

  • @Boooby Sylosis are SICK

  • YOUR TONE KILLS!

  • will this also cancel out the noise from pedals? when you get into the high gain on my distortion pedal, it just eats single coils.

  • @cheesedude5050 I'm not sure, never tried it with singlecoils. So I can't give you some help there ):

  • Awesome, great review and great playing!

  • Dude, you sound British, where you from?!

  • @Scylla1291 Bradford! That's near Manchester and such other places in England...

  • @insatanwetrustslave Awesome!! I'm from Blackpool :D

  • Good review Jack, that thing makes a huge difference. I thought I'd put this on your newest video so you'd have a better chance of seeing it lol what do you think about Trivium's new song IN WAVES??? Pretty badass I think \m/

  • nice strap

  • I have always fancied a silverburst les paul. Is it any good for metal?

  • @KILLA1BUNNY This is equipped with EMGs so hella yeah!

  • @KILLA1BUNNY Awesome. I gave my Jackson KVX10 EMG's. It took ages but it was well worth it. I'm guessing this guitar would be great for a larger range of music styles than Jacksons + It looks damn sexy. Its definitely on my hit list for guitars to get.

  • Wow, that trigger thing takes away the crunch of the tone completely.

Btw, did you film this on your iPhone or your Fip?

  • You got microphic pickups there! Your amp/guitar should NOT howl like that if you have the strings muted. You sure you got everything set UP correctly?

The gate works thats for sure, but its probably covering up another symptom.

  • Just quickly, another method to reduce hum is to line the guitar volume and tone dial cavity with copper foil

  • Hey Jack did you have to raise you bridge on your agile a little bit, and bit that i mean unscrew it a little bit, i had to do it on mine cause the action was way too low

  • @MrNarcoleptik I'm always doing that, some days I like it high, some days low xD

  • you have such an awesome sounding guitar id kill to have that sound!!

  • @IwarnU1617 Cheers dude, it's not a necessarily expensive set up either :D

  • more Exitum songs plz lol

  • THANK YOU!!!! i want this pedal and have been wanting to see a legit review for a while. great review! love your vids! thanks man

  • YOU CANT PLAY FOR SHIT

    :)

  • @Ceejay1523 I know, what's an e chord? Herp derp.

  • @Ceejay1523 YOU CAN'T TROLL FOR SHIT

    :)

  • @insatanwetrustslave: btw, good luck on your first show!

  • @Ceejay1523 Heh, cheers dude.

  • lol people say you cant play, but its just the video thats misleading

  • lol i love your accent jack

  • I might have to look into this. My amp doesn't compare to yours but it still blows, but it's got that annoying high pitch squeal at higher volumes.

    Thanks mate!

  • @MultiBoggart You're saying shielding removes the problem? WRONG. It helps but you'll still get feedback.

And also, my guitar is shielded.

  • This was a nice review. I truly cannot understand people who just say you suck, can´t play, etc...Bunch of wankers,in my opinion. ^^

  • @Snide666 Cheers man, appreciate the love ;D

It confuses me too, I'm just a guy who tries to please!

Fuck it, haters can hate. At least I have those loyal staying loyal! :D

  • would this still be a good pedal to buy so for a none tube amp because i hate the sound i get from playing with high gain on loud volume?

  • @BlackDeath9012 It would. I've not tried it on my Line 6 but I'm sure it'll remove the feedback etc from solid states just the same as valve amps.

  • @insatanwetrustslave sweet thanks man \m/ been looking for a way to get rid of it!

  • so British~ not duh Asian,lol,nah I am just kidding,UK,Asia,US,Africa,Middle East,I am cool =) and u are awesome.....=P

  • @DanteTrishVergil Cheers dude, but what are you on about? Haha xD

  • @insatanwetrustslave lol,just some random shit =P

  • Bit of Sylosis for the lads?

  • How can somebody not like that? Its a pretty cool review and sounds like a great noise gate.

  • @shortyxxy Because a lot of people on YouTube are full of themselves.

I don't see what I did wrong xD

I was requested to do a review, I did it. My playing was fine.

    People must be jealous.

  • @insatanwetrustslave i think people would rather hear original stuff on a review and not another bands, that could be peoples problem. good review, but its just a noise gate, WOW...

and it would help not to play power chords and play some individual notes, a few scales..

  • @kaefbaml I suppose, but it's my review so I'll do it how ever I want. Not being a douche here btw.

  • @insatanwetrustslave fair doo

  • @insatanwetrustslave Yea u deff needed that MXR pedal......u were suffering white noise syndrome..lol :)

Works great though apart from that high trigger...like u said it did affect the tone big time! Do u get that same level of noise with ur Dean guitar? And how are things going in uni....Are u a full blown alcoholic yet? And if not WHY NOT..lol :)

  • Cheers dude :D seems just what I need, you seem to use a high gain tone too

  • @lscreamaimfirel Definitely worth the price, get one asap!

    What amp you using?

  • @insatanwetrustslave 6505 combo :)

  • after lifeless years ?

  • @robalonfrog Just the intro yeah.
