The songwriting process never ceases to amaze me. From this to the final version is quite miraculous. I love the changes he made for the final version, new chorus, etc. Very crafty work.
I seemed to have forgotten reading about the part where Lennon really cared about aesthetics over art. While people are overly concerned with the image, there's the development of a great song in the making.
thanx alot for puttin this out!! its absolutly wonderful to hear him actually working on his own stuff..feeling it..trying to sink into it..i feel ike im in the room while hes writing!! AWESOME
Obviously. I never intended for anyone to sit here and look directly at the screen while this was playing. I want people to listen to it while they do other things. I'm not out to make flashy videos.
@chilibro Why don't you just be grateful that he took the time to provide moaning people like you with all this great Lennon material? Thanks Neil, some of us actually appreciate your videos unlike this guy.
The reason he was so skinny was not drug use as claimed by phony-balogne writer Goldman, but due to the macrobiotic diet that he and Yoko Ono practised at the time.
John was a rich man and could afford toys. On here I thing will be a Roland Drum machine from around 1978. This demo I would say is 1979. The drum machine was used on the "shuffle" setting. The song is in A major but cleverly drops to G, D, E minor for the chorus. The drum machine is at the beginning to Blondie's Heart of Glass..on the "Beguine" or "Rhumba" setting
Great post. Sounds like piano and drum machine. He didn't even have the chorus yet "Nobody told me theyr'd be days like this". He also changed the line UFO's over the Garden(Madison Square) to There's UFO's over New York in the final recording. Any idea when this was first recorded
Thanks you guys. I'm going to post more when I get home from dinner. I was trying to post a really good one the other day, but YouTube was being hardheaded and it would just be a black video with no sound even though I knew for a fact that I had made the video right.

Even his basic recordings are better than any of the shit put out as 'music' today...

It´s a bit like Nobody Told Me.
Same melody but different lyrics.

This song (or the final version) reminds me a bit of "I Can Help" by Billy Swan from 1974
moople72 1 year ago
@moople72 People thought Billy Swan sounded exactly like Ringo. Weird coincedances..

@laosandburma you mean to say that he changed the Ringo drum macine into a Rowland?
64fairlane305 1 year ago
@64fairlane305 Well Ringo is the ultimate machine for drumming. Perfect beat, won't let you down....but he only had Roland Starr on this day...
