This is perhaps my favorite song of all time. You play it like I picture Stephen Foster himself would play it today. Have you seen Jacques Mees version of this song? He does an amazing version. I really liked Dan Samples version too - but it's gone now. I bug him about it from time to time. I hope you leave yours up!
@derekeverett Dan does tend to take his videos down, which is a nuisance because I often have links to his songs on my website. He has so much good music on his channel.
Great job Raymond! Just to add a tidbit of information, he wrote "old folks at home" under the pen name of Milton Moore, taken from the Poet John Milton and the Irish Composer Thomas Moore. Kinda cool eh?
This chestnut of a Foster ditty is PROPHETIC of his own final years. Foster is utilized as a prime example in my Music Composition and Theory Sudies classes.
You have performed PERFECTION...a wonderful,telling and appropriate tribute to the master composer for whom Ihave the utmost respect.
@mourningwoody67 Thank you.

Are you mad at Stephen Foster?

Maybe he's mad at me!?

Such ballads are commonly indvidualistic in how they are sung. I believe that Ray did excellent in HIS presentation.

Good attempt. Tune slightly off. Stick to Aussie songs, you're better at them.
timhately09 2 years ago
That would limit my repertoire considerably. I don't think I could do 1001 Aussie songs!
