  • @mourningwoody67 Thank you.

  • good!

  • @darioaspesani Thanks for watching.

  • I fell in love with this song after hearing Mustard's Retreat rendition. I should have known it was another fabulous Foster song!

  • @EstherNickleby He certainly wrote some good ones.

  • This is perhaps my favorite song of all time. You play it like I picture Stephen Foster himself would play it today. Have you seen Jacques Mees version of this song? He does an amazing version. I really liked Dan Samples version too - but it's gone now. I bug him about it from time to time. I hope you leave yours up!

  • @derekeverett Dan does tend to take his videos down, which is a nuisance because I often have links to his songs on my website. He has so much good music on his channel.

  • Are you mad at Stephen Foster?

  • Maybe he's mad at me!?

  • Such ballads are commonly indvidualistic in how they are sung. I believe that Ray did excellent in HIS presentation.

  • Thanks for your support.

  • Good attempt. Tune slightly off. Stick to Aussie songs, you're better at them.

  • That would limit my repertoire considerably. I don't think I could do 1001 Aussie songs!

  • What a joy I thank for the music

May your strings be tight. From Earl

  • Thanks, Earl

  • I had to join in with the twelve string. I love this song. You sing it with lots of feeling.

  • I wish I could hear you playing along.

  • You might be able to hear the next best thing. I'm recording this tomorrow. I will send you a link to where you can hear it, if you like.

  • Yes please.

  • R- beautiful job.

  • thanx raymond,..sounds great, one of my fav.

  • Great job Raymond! Just to add a tidbit of information, he wrote "old folks at home" under the pen name of Milton Moore, taken from the Poet John Milton and the Irish Composer Thomas Moore. Kinda cool eh?

  • Great song Raymond, It's new to me also. Thanks for the interesting info about Stephen Foster *****

    Rocket

  • Great rendition. Another song that you've brought to my attention that maybe I should learn.

  • très belle chanson;

    thanks,

  • You put a lot of feeling in your vocals on this. Great job!

  • Hello

    Raymond...

This chestnut of a Foster ditty is PROPHETIC of his own final years. Foster is utilized as a prime example in my Music Composition and Theory Sudies classes.

You have performed PERFECTION...a wonderful, telling and appropriate tribute to the master composer for whom Ihave the utmost respect.

    Pace,

    Stewball
