i love this song so, soooo much! (and of course, "on how to be lovely") i've had this song in my head all morning and just *had* to watch this clip :)
"when i'm done with you, you'll look like...what do you call beautiful?" [i was thinking audrey hepburn, of course, she's lovely] "a tree. you'll look like a tree" :)
My mom bought me this movie cause I love Fred Astaire. Now I've lost count of how many times I've watched it! Audrey was such a gem in this movie! And Fred... If he was still alive I would have such a crush on him!
The saddest thing isnt that the movies have dramatically changed for the wThe saddest thing is knowing that even if they were to come back, people wouldn't accept it
Funny Face is maybe my favourite Audrey Hepburn's movie — and this song, with "Bonjour Paris" (I'm french, so it's delicious to hear when they say french things) are my favourite. I don't know how many times I've listened to it, I still adore it. And Audrey, she's so adorable — and the best is that she was adorable in the "true life" too... This is the movie you have to watch when you are sad =) !
its set in a foggy dark room so that if they needed a replacement for her for the dances, they could put someone in without it being obvious. many of the dances in this movie are set in fog even though she did ballet and could have done it all anyway
a great musical!...actually Audrey was trained as a dancer so this role was just right for her...brilliant to pair her with Fred Astaire!
but Audrey had more than one talent....in her first hollywood film, Roman Holiday, she won the Oscar for best performance as an actress...she seemed to have had a charmed career - which was well-deserved.
@hugmeduh. her accent comes from her upbringing in Holland, she could speak Dutch till the day she died , If she was in Holland she mostly gave an interview in Dutch, ther,s a tube video of her speaking Dutch in Holland ;-)
last of the great musicals? are you nuts? this was released in 1957. West Side Story -1961; The Sound of Music - 1965; Doctor Dolittle - 1967, just to name a few....what the hell are they, chopped liver??
I love that Audrey was an "unconventional" beauty in her heyday. There was Marilyn Monroe on one end of the spectrum--the typical sexy, busty blonde bombshell. And Audrey was waifish, brunette, and still striking in her own unique way. "You're not exotic, but so hypnotic." Indeed!
This film is based on Richard Avedon, this is what he had to say about Audrey:
"I am, and forever will be, devastated by the gift of Audrey Hepburn before my camera. I cannot lift her to greater heights. She is already there. I can only record. I cannot interpret her. There is no going further than who she is. She has achieved in herself her ultimate portrait."
xD That's the point. Besides, the movie wasn't designed for her. Are you really going to find a Hollywood actress who has a funny face in that period of time? It doesn't matter, it's still an amazing film.
My fav is definitely Breakfast at Tiffany's, but I adore them all! The most amazing thing about this movie is that you get both Audrey and Fred Astaire in one package. The only thing better than that is Kelly and Sinatra together!
