My dad served 22 years on the Kitty Hawk he waz wit the SAR #9 he told me a story one time they had to go n search for a Russian sub so him n his group had to go n find the sub n this waz in the pacific
damn terrorists, one of my best childhood memories was when a US Aircraft carrier would come to town (Sydney) we could go on, look around, and if lucky enough get a sailor to take us on a private guided tour...but now, there is no access to the public...F...M..L. (p.s, i miss the kitty hawk)
I was there from 02-06 oh boy the drunkest days of my life. In Perth 2003 the ships newspaper called kitty- hawk flyer the headline was Kitty Hawk visit to Perth " we came we saw we drank" lol
On 12 October 1972 during the Vietnam War, Kitty Hawk was en route to her station in the Gulf of Tonkin when a racial riot involving more than 200 sailors broke out. Nearly 50 sailors were injured in this widely-publicized incident.[4] This incident resulted in a congressional inquiry into discipline in the Navy.
I remember when Kitty Hawk and forgot which other AC Carrier came to Freo, before 9/11 we were able to go aboard and have a look around on tours ... i remember going up those hangar lifts....Good times.
I remember Going to Freemantle in 97 on the Great Blazing Inferno Cv-63 the Shitty Kitty Had to Man the Rails. it was a Blast! but Austrailia is Expensive but the Girls were NICE!
Why did they name an aircraft carrier after some small town, while in WWII heavy cruisers were named after cities and in the 80's subs were named after cities?
You seriously need to ask why the navy would name an aircraft carrier after the town where the Wright brothers made there first powered airplane flights?
No but i find it funny considering cruisers are normally named after cities yet this small town had the luxury of being the namesake of a capital ship.
The guy below me is a fag, who keeps pointlessly posting shit like this everywher, because he has on life and nothing btter to do. Seriously, why the hell else would someone do it?
I was a grape on USS Kitthawk 2000 to 2004. As shitty as the ship was I am glad I served aboard. Me and my crew discovered sealed rooms beneath elevator 4. I miss that ship that ship.
When was this taped? I wonder if I was on it at the time waiting for port. I lost my ATM card in that port too. I really wanted a digerado (or whatever it's called.)
Man i remember that port call right there... That was some good times.. They Kitty Hawk was some good memories when i was on that ship... But now times has come to a end
nameofthepen If It Wasen't for These "Killer War Machines" The United States would Probably Be Invaded And You, Me And Everyone Else would Probably Be Dead Or Forced To Work For Slave Labor For No Pay, So Show The US Military Some Respect They're the One's who Protect You. You Irogant Tree-Hugging Hippie
True, but what I understand is, because it is an old fashioned fossil fuel ship, it takes forever to start up. The nucleur ships start right up and are ready to go.
And think of how many wars just the mere presence this ship can stop. We are not a "War Whores". The US has created and supplied several international relief society groups to feed those kids. We don't claim perfection just the pursuit of it.
The best way to deter a war is to remain strong during peacetime, and though these carriers may not have stopped any wars, they've helped us fight them well. And let's be a little more respectful to Israel - we shouldn't let them dominate our foreign policy, but they're our only respectable ally in the Middle East.
czj617 - I have NO respect for Israel. Or for all the double-citizenship criminal Israelis holding positions in Amerikan gov't, and destroying our nation. No respect either for the non-jews like Bush/Cheney/Rice/Obama/McLame/Palin who kiss up to them and for a few shekels, and sell the rest of us out.
If you want to bow down to the most perverted nation on earth, that's your problem.
What a waste of money. Fuel the war machine. You weren't paying attention. Iran, Korea, Guatemala, Cuba, Vietnam, Indonesia, Panama, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Columbia, Chile, Peru, Argentina, Venezuela, Bosnia, Africa, Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran next again. All either political assassination or economic assassinations. Keep living the good life exploiting others. 24,000 people starve to death everyday while American idols get their dogs a pedicure.
Hey, ummm . ..anybody who ever was on this ship when it went to fremantle. . . do u reckon u cld help me find somebody please??? Was on ship with you guys in 2006! thanks
your an idiot (guy below me) anyone who dies or died by this ship wasnt innocent. nobody is innocent. im on this ship by the way and i loved freemantle.
Freemantle was the last place my uncle was on dry land before he was killed aboard the Growler (SS-215) in November 1944. Freemantle was where that submarine left on its last war patrol.
hmmm... i wonder how many civilian deaths this ship and its pilots are responsible for? The military doesn't count because it would mess troops up if they knew.
When I went to Fremantle on the Kitty Hawk we had to anchor out because the port was too small. Man, that was the best liberty, the women were amazing!

Think of the number of starving kids who could have been fed with the money that was paid to build that killer war machine.
When will people wake up and realize the U.S. has openly become "Israel's war whore"?
