  • damn terrorists, one of my best childhood memories was when a US Aircraft carrier would come to town (Sydney) we could go on, look around, and if lucky enough get a sailor to take us on a private guided tour...but now, there is no access to the public...F...M..L. (p.s, i miss the kitty hawk)

  • I was there from 02-06 oh boy the drunkest days of my life. In Perth 2003 the ships newspaper called kitty- hawk flyer the headline was Kitty Hawk visit to Perth " we came we saw we drank" lol

  • My grandfather served on the USS Kitty Hawk :D

  • I didn't see any F-14s on deck. When were the F-14s decommissioned?

  • Ummm, wasn't the kitty hawk a transport ship that torpedo 8 came home on?

  • I was on her when we ran over a Russian Victor Class sub on Westpac cruise of 1984. A lot of good memories on her.

  • @thevoicechameleon me too

  • @samson19541 kitty hawk was in san diego in that date.deployed mid feb.1972 to westpac

  • makes no sense to me that my brother was killed on her that day then...

  • On 12 October 1972 during the Vietnam War, Kitty Hawk was en route to her station in the Gulf of Tonkin when a racial riot involving more than 200 sailors broke out. Nearly 50 sailors were injured in this widely-publicized incident.[4] This incident resulted in a congressional inquiry into discipline in the Navy.

  • WesPac 74 Olongopo City for a couple of months....Whew, too much of a good thing.

Hey Sailor you seet beside me, you butterly on me, I cut you. Sound familiar?

  • @tmcmahen hell yeah my man was on the sh*ty kitty during that time

  • The Shitty Kitty

  • I remember when Kitty Hawk and forgot which other AC Carrier came to Freo, before 9/11 we were able to go aboard and have a look around on tours ... i remember going up those hangar lifts....Good times.

  • I remember Going to Freemantle in 97 on the Great Blazing Inferno Cv-63 the Shitty Kitty Had to Man the Rails. it was a Blast! but Austrailia is Expensive but the Girls were NICE!

  • Why did they name an aircraft carrier after some small town, while in WWII heavy cruisers were named after cities and in the 80's subs were named after cities?

  • You seriously need to ask why the navy would name an aircraft carrier after the town where the Wright brothers made there first powered airplane flights?

  • No but i find it funny considering cruisers are normally named after cities yet this small town had the luxury of being the namesake of a capital ship.

  • u r so stupid i had to give you the thumbs up

  • massively epic fail.

  • Nice... I did a port-call Perth/Fremantle aboard the Kitty back in 1997. I miss the old girl

  • So did I Mariner311, I was in VF213.

  • The guy below me is a fag, who keeps pointlessly posting shit like this everywher, because he has on life and nothing btter to do. Seriously, why the hell else would someone do it?

    His life really sucks.

    Just feel bad for him.

  • asshole american navy ! your people are on their knees and you spend the money on those things, the rich have fucked you over America.

  • I was a grape on USS Kitthawk 2000 to 2004. As shitty as the ship was I am glad I served aboard. Me and my crew discovered sealed rooms beneath elevator 4. I miss that ship that ship.

  • Cool did you guys find any thing else. For all ware it had it added a bit of character to the ship.

  • Also found what looked like the remains of the joint under elevator 4 or 3 I think. One of the guys on the crew ended up trying to smoke it.

  • XD Hey its free.

  • what a frecious war ship with a very war like name....NOT

  • best times i ever had were onboard the shitty kitty

  • When was this taped? I wonder if I was on it at the time waiting for port. I lost my ATM card in that port too. I really wanted a digerado (or whatever it's called.)

  • my late grandfather was part of it during the vietnam war and im proud of it.

  • Man i remember that port call right there... That was some good times.. They Kitty Hawk was some good memories when i was on that ship... But now times has come to a end

  • that's a lot of f-18's.

  • u can fit 70-85 jets on board her

  • LOL really? Kitty Hawk?!?!? OMG i laughed so hard thats like an insult to the firepower this ship can deal

  • Ah its called the kitty hawk because the write brothers flew the first aircraft in Kittyhawk, NC.

  • awesome machine :D

  • nameofthepen If It Wasen't for These "Killer War Machines" The United States would Probably Be Invaded And You, Me And Everyone Else would Probably Be Dead Or Forced To Work For Slave Labor For No Pay, So Show The US Military Some Respect They're the One's who Protect You. You Irogant Tree-Hugging Hippie

  • i got a model of this ship^^

  • What a beautiful ship!! It's really unfortunate that they will be decommissioning her soon. I salute all those who served on her.

  • True, but what I understand is, because it is an old fashioned fossil fuel ship, it takes forever to start up. The nucleur ships start right up and are ready to go.

  • Comment removed

  • wow, thats hot.. now I know exactly what my babe is on! Thats a big betch.

  • Think of the number of starving kids who could have been fed with the money that was paid to build that killer war machine.

When will people wake up and realize the U.S. has openly become "Israel's war whore"?

  • And think of how many wars just the mere presence this ship can stop. We are not a "War Whores". The US has created and supplied several international relief society groups to feed those kids. We don't claim perfection just the pursuit of it.

  • d-jeff: sorry, I never saw a US war machine "stop" a war yet. And yes, US *is* Israel's whore - war and otherwise. Thank you for your reply.

  • The best way to deter a war is to remain strong during peacetime, and though these carriers may not have stopped any wars, they've helped us fight them well. And let's be a little more respectful to Israel - we shouldn't let them dominate our foreign policy, but they're our only respectable ally in the Middle East.

  • czj617 - I have NO respect for Israel. Or for all the double-citizenship criminal Israelis holding positions in Amerikan gov't, and destroying our nation. No respect either for the non-jews like Bush/Cheney/Rice/Obama/McLame/Palin who kiss up to them and for a few shekels, and sell the rest of us out.

If you want to bow down to the most perverted nation on earth, that's your problem.

  • What a waste of money. Fuel the war machine. You weren't paying attention. Iran, Korea, Guatemala, Cuba, Vietnam, Indonesia, Panama, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Columbia, Chile, Peru, Argentina, Venezuela, Bosnia, Africa, Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran next again. All either political assassination or economic assassinations. Keep living the good life exploiting others. 24,000 people starve to death everyday while American idols get their dogs a pedicure.

The American product is chaos war and oppression

  • find another site to write you;re bullshir stay off this one asshole,s(slaverevolt, nameofthepen)

  • OF all ports I pulled into when I was in the Marines, the most memorable ones were Freemantle and San Diego (after a 14 month MEU)

  • my recruiter was on the Kitty Hawk during this time. too bad its getting decomishioned this year

  • wow i wish i was there its an amazing sight to see an aircraft carrier sailing

  • so many innocent people killed by this ship. One day this ship will be sank

  • this ship is one of many that protects lands, citizens, and interests of the most powerful country on Earth. look at the bigger picture...

  • I was on the ship last year when we went to Fremantle/Perth Australia it was great!!!

  • My cousin currently serves on this ship, and it is going to be retired later this year... november i think

  • Freemantle was the last place my uncle was on dry land before he was killed aboard the Growler (SS-215) in November 1944. Freemantle was where that submarine left on its last war patrol.

  • that was on May2001, i was one of sailor onboard.

  • I didn't see any f-14s on board.

  • maybe because f-14 are now history.

  • They have replaced by the F-18's

  • hmmm... i wonder how many civilian deaths this ship and its pilots are responsible for? The military doesn't count because it would mess troops up if they knew.

  • Why would you write something like that? Are you trying to make everyone think and have a sudden awakening of understanding? stupid

  • they know and its apart of the job, go figure..;)

  • Hope I dont have to be on this POS too long, Perth is GREAT!

  • When I went to Fremantle on the Kitty Hawk we had to anchor out because the port was too small. Man, that was the best liberty, the women were amazing!

  • at the 1:17 mark i am visible just next to the bomb jetison ramp.
