fights are very random. thats why knowing ground fighting defense with some standup offense with basic subdueing techniques, you should be alright. karate kata is very important for it emphasizes on muscle memory. at our dojo, we learn, karate, ninjitsu, and sambo.
no chance that works, wrist locks standing up are almost impossible to pull off as hell just wriggle and move ,you dont have enough control.Any lock standing is very low percentage.
@billysue2 you obviuosly havent trained for shit bro yes they do work and if your stupid and dont what your doing and just wiggle you just sink the hold in deeper
@chiefhinton i started grappling in 1995 ,before that I wrestled in high school and kickboxing.Ive also worked as a bouncer for 4 yrs and wrist locks work on the ground or if your restraining someone with another bouncer, they have very low percentage standing up.Why do you think theres virtually never been a standing joint lock in mma since 1993(I can think of 1 famous one, shinya aoki on keith wasnieski, standing wakigatame)

I have pulled off wrist locks from standing. Great technique.
