Amazing..:-) I have only just started to appreciate coffee as I've been a tea drinker all my life. I thought I was doing well with my freshly ground coffee at home but this is at another level, which I didn't know existed ..lol. Thanks for posting this..:-)
I sure that a Dam fine cup of Joe but if it was my 1 cup I would have choked him after 5 minutes. I sure I might offend some purists but I bet a box doughnut that if I used a my peculator and let you taste them blind you would be guessing. That said I uses to work a very famous restaurant & people raved about the coffee we served. The funny thing was our "filters" were not paper or felt it was 100% cotton tube sock that was never washed only rinsed and large peculator .
I cringed at first too because it looks like he's over-extracting, but it also looks like they over-extract then water it down, which when done with the right bean will taste very citric. I've had coffee like that before and it was good, but it was a lot simpler method than this.
@jib1000 clearly you don't know that coffee peaks 3-4 days after its roasted, when the oils start to come to the surface of the beans. i'm blue bottle trained so i know my shit. clearly you don't
@jbbb427 You're right clearly i know nothing about coffee because i don't drink coffee from starbucks/seattlesbest/bluebottle etc. Companies like that are ruining coffee for everyone. If you don't brew coffee at home you don't really deserve good coffee. Might as well get it at dunkin donughts or McDonalds.
Blue Bottle is a joke. Baristas are a joke. If you like coffee make it your self. If you don't really care then just spend 2 bucks at your local diner or donught place.
@jbbb427 How would i grow and import beans? That's a pretty stupid question.
I get my beans from a local roaster. I know what days the blends i like are roasted and i buy them within a day or two. Its only about 14$ per lb. So that works out to about 25 cents per cup (i use 7-8grams per cup) for the coffee. So i spend way less than 2$ on a cup of coffee and its better than any other cup of coffee I've ever had, anywhere, period. The reason my cup is the best is because I get to control it all.
@jib1000 your coffee must be really watery and flavorless if your only using 8 grams of coffee per cup. and you either drink a ton of coffee a day, or you would have that one pound for 50+ days. not so fresh, aye.
@jib1000 why don't you stop being so arrogant and realize that you are as much of a coffee nerd as the baristas who work at cafes that carry locally roasted beans, and just appreciate the coffee culture instead of dissing it.
@jbbb427 Because baristas are ruining coffee culture. Coffee culture should be about roasters and consumers. It should not be about half caf soy mochaccinos with raspberry and caramel. It should be about coffee.

ridiculous, and dumb.
Did they roast their coffee on site?
Because if they didn't that was all a waste of time.

@jib1000 - They do roast their coffee there.
It was the most amazing coffee I have had in my life, which is neither ridiculous nor dumb :)

@jib1000
clearly if you think roasting on site is all that matters you have alot to learn about coffee

@jbbb427 Clearly if you think that drinking coffee roasted within 48 hours of you brewing it isn't important you've got a lot to learn about coffee.

@jib1000
well that still doesn't solve the problem of getting your beans from somewhere. do you grow, import, and roast your own beans?
and clearly if you're only spending $2 on coffee you're buying shit coffee from somewhere like starbucks.
