  • MASTERS! love Ben & Tracey

  • Simply Brilliant

  • A work of art.... MASTERPIECE.

  • mamma mia che voce

    bellissima

  • Still fab today as it was then. One of the sexiest songs ever :-)

  • This is la buena musica!: everything sounds in its place.

  • it gives me the creeps

  • she is such a remarkable dancer

  • Oh the memories and sense of longing this evokes, bitter sweet

  • First heard this in the Hacienda Manchester back in 1985, I was 21, saw them live a few weeks later in the same place. Went on to see them on every tour since( god the Apollo Manchester is a shit hole) I'm 46 now and still hooked on Tracey and Ben's unique music style, wheter it's EBTG or solo work.

  • Featuring John Oates on the bongos!

  • i think there is a point where it is almost too good. just so smooth.

  • LOVELYY:)))

  • bosco d'oliveira on percussion!!

  • one of the best songs ever recorded by anyone anywhere

  • thank you...the memories have come flooding back--sheer perfection ebtg!!

  • Gosh,it's pure SAMBA,beautiful,really awesome

  • ben and tracy . get back on the road and give all your fans a tour . this was the coolist song from 1983 and still sounds fresh today .

  • Ofcourse I know this song from the early eighties and it's great - but when I look at the imagines on the screen now I get an Eraserhead kinda feelin'-

  • WOW.. That was one of my 1st songs by this band, I also remember "Gun Cupboard Love"

  • she is a remarkably talented dancer

  • Thanks for posting one of my favourite songs!!

  • do tempo em que se falava em 'new bossa nova', excepcional music!

  • more than 20 years ago, oh my god!

What' s me happened in these years, if i don't remember, sure nothing of good.

  • What you don't remember was probably fun. I know I had fun trying not to remember. The older you get the longer that tunnel or pit (or whatever euphemism you choose) becomes. Life is like RUNNING MAN, at the end you die (unless you're a fictional character)

  • wow, 25 years ago..hard to believe

  • if you ever feel the time to drop me a loving line-----mmmmmmm, yes please

  • It's incredible how their style evolved between the 80s and 90s. Only true musicians with an open mind pull that off.

  • this appears to be the 'only one' on youtube! excepting the live one with rollercoaster...

not bad sound quality on this one - good upload!

  • One of my fav bands:)

  • I love this. One of my favourite songs ever. Thanks for posting it.

  • great song keeps me focoused on females always trying to get there way and not realing theyer doing the same shit to you

  • One of the coolest sounds of the eighties this song

  • the song i felt in love with you

  • Does anyone remember the "B" side of the "Each and Every One" 12" single??

Was it titled "Coulda Been Better" because I do remember it, and it was another classic EBTG track which I've never heard since, even on Albums/CD's

  • laugh you out the house - pure genius and i used to have it - dont know where it went :(

  • you can find it on the compilation Everything But The Girl from Sire records (catalogue number B000002L7A) - I still have all those early singles and 12 inches!...it all seemed a lot less complicated then!

  • These guys are long terms favs of mine - this samba beat and lyrics are some of the best stuff they did.

  • Anyone have tabs or chords for this song? There's a version out there but it's too vague for a song like this.

  • De toute beauté

    Pour toi

    tendrement

  • Perfection

  • exactly :D

  • This is where it all began. I had a copy of the vinyl album & I wrote the lyrics to every song on the inner sleeve. I wish I'd kept that. If anyone has it let me know.

  • stevwatson were you ever been a bball player?

  • Love the style of the music. Bring back memories!

  • yup. this is the EBTG that never left my turntable, then mix tapes. Stateside the album was called simply EBTG with a sketch of music stands. Each song is better than the next. Thanks for posting-add this version of EBTG to The Jam, The Clash, The Specials and Velvet Underground as the best bands not named The Beatles!

  • This song is so mellow,a definate chill out sond,my fav of all time by EBTG.

  • Love this. My fave EBTG track. Pure student bedsit memories. Always wanted it to be longer.

  • My favourite EBTG song of all time - brings back great memories. Thanks for uploading.

  • this song is so hott..

i was born in 89 but this is!!!!

    amazing!!!!!

  • I got hip to Tracey Thorn back in the 80s around the time Introducing the Style Council became standard listening for us folks lost somewhere between Blue Note era jazz and the KROQ new wave scene. I dug up every cherry red disc I could lay my mits on. EDEN was a revelation - Tracey Thorn has such a seductive and unassuming sexy style that just sends me every time. EBTG is the Truth! We dig ya' all the way out here in L.A.

  • (If you already know this, sorry.) There is a Tracey Thorn solo album on Cherry Red called A Distant Shore. It was made before EBTG. Just Tracey and a guitar - very simple. Worth a go but I bet it's hard to find. Eden was really good wasn't it.

  • Swich68,

Yes I have a copy of the album. I beleive it has a color pencil sketch of Tracey on the cover. I would love to hear her record a version of Nina Simone's "Feeling Good"

  • Yeah, that's the one. Too Happy was one of the theme tunes to my first breakup. Altogether now - aaaahhhh, there, there!

  • I remember a couple of young ladies back in the day that I used to associate an EBTG tune with: "Cross My Heart", "That's Not How Love Is", "Don't Leave Me Behind", "Never Could've Been Worse", "Kid"..... I've said it 1000 times + 1 more; Tracey Thorne is the TRUTH!

  • i loved the Eden album and learned all the guitar parts of all the songs, but it reminds me so much of the ex-mrs that i can't listen to it anymore :)

  • crazy beauty song

  • Ah, 84/5. Awakening to the London Jazz scene on the arse-end of the Mod revial. Blue Rondo, Animal Nightlife and of course TSC. What a wasted opportunity when they killed Absolute Beginners as a movie opportunity.

  • When i was finishing school someone did me a C90 tape with Eden on one side and Cafe Bleu by Style Council on the other,i remember being exited about Absolute Beginners when it was released, the mid eighties probably wasn,t the best time production wise to do it.

  • This is my fav song by EBTG :-)

  • thanks soulmate ktf

  • absolutely love it! it still sends a shiver down my spine after all these years(and takes me back to being 11 again....)

  • fantastic song, after a bad day at work, I STILL PLAY THIS LOUD !!! wow...

  • listening to their songs is like breathing fresh air!

  • EBTG were a breath of fresh air in '83(?) - there hadn't been much in the charts with any musical integrity for a while, then I heard Night and Day, then this. Their first four albums were all great, each one different, but as good as the previous one. Ben Watt is underrated and imaginative as a musician and Tracey's vocal style is just amazing.

  • omg--i never knew they went back so far. i was under the impression that they were new.

  • Oooh, that cover of Night & Day is just amazing.

Must be one of the best covers ever.

One of those elusive Cherry Red 7" really hard to find outside UK.

  • lol 1983... gee man one of the best years in history of pop music

  • Despite all later success (which they deserve of course)i still think Eden was their best album.I was a child and opened my mind to jazz and bossa.I'm so grateful to them.

  • I must agree there.I was given a cassette (anybody remember them?) of Eden around 1985(ish)and to this day it is still as good..

  • Yeah someone did me a C90 with Eden one side and Cafe Bleu by the Style Council on the other, great times.

  • EBTG forever!

  • Their old songs are the best! Simply loooooooove this one!

  • I agree!!!

  • this song has been one of my favs:jazzy, bossa and soo soulful...love it!! tracy a true talent!! she will always have street cred!! and ben is amazing on da wheels of steel!!!

  • I like this song very much, it's brilliant..

  • Fantastic. I wonder from which Album that song is... I prefer their older songs. Before the house tunes took over.

  • It's from Eden.

  • thanks

  • One of the best bands in the world. Tracy Thorn has one of those voices that you'll never forget. Benn Watts has produced some of the best tracks that I've ever heard .... brilliant

  • shes an emo :|

  • OMG what a fantastic song !!!

  • NICE!!! Ganzen Schonen!!! Muy Fantastico!!!

  • Very sweet indeed :)))))

  • oh, yes! this is so very interesting (m4rs12). i had to listen to it twice on the start--i couldn't believe how smooth it was.

  • same here. I can't stop watching it. And it is still running in my head :))

  • Great bossa tune by the way :)

  • Don't know, and don't care!

    LOL

  • No, she's married to Ben Watt who is the other half of the band :)

  • Thanks :)

Did no mean to be isulting. Was just curious :))

  • @m4rs12 No, she and Ben Watt (the guitarist) have been married for years and have kids.

  • @BdolfVanNille no shes married to the guitarist! :)

  • @BdolfVanNille fuck off

  • @BdolfVanNille she's married to the guitarist.

  • @BdolfVanNille Of course she is not! She's married Bent Watts... she's just different!

    ¬¬

  • L album EDEN est extra le meillleur de ebtg le style lounge avant l' heure

  • Class act, Peroid

  • "Eden" was one of my most listened to albums of the 80's. Great from beginning to end. Although you have to get the US version of the CD to get the singles that were not on the album like "Laugh You Out The House" "Easy As Sin" and "Mine". Fantastic stuff.

  • have recently bought "eden" on cd, 1/4 of a century late , still sounds great

  • This song is from one of the most beautiful lp from the last century, all the record is amazing, really i : frost & fire, i must confess, ect..Ben and Tracey are the prince of melancholy and will never ever be dethroned.Thank you

  • Great song, never boring! I can listen to it like 20 times in a row...

  • 'Eden' is still a fantastic album after all this time...reminds me of taking the train to college in Sussex, drinking in Camden, gigs at The Town and Country Club...ah, the heady rush of nostalgia!

  • I must agree with you. Eden was the first CD that I have purchased and I still have it to this day. It is a minefield of really soulful music.

  • love it, had a bad day,

then just play this song loud.

     fantastic.

  • I luv that song i love that album i love that band

  • I was 16 when I bought this, now I'm nearly 41. Tune still gives me goose bumps. Thanks Tracy & Ben.

  • Amazing talent...phew! can you imagine the musical depth of these kids!(they were probably in their early twenties when they crafted this classic)....any musician young and old would be hard pressed to come up with songs as beautiful as theirs.. and as consistently as they have....wow.
