  • amazing.

  • Numbers could never make something more obvious

  • I doubt most of these.

  • Just watched this in science D= scary stuff.

  • Can anyone please tell me how to make such a video??:/

  • does anyone know if there is an updated one of these around?? (also what is the song called?)

  • We were watching this at a school assembly (idk why?) and everyone laughed at the bit at the end 694,000 songs were downloaded illegally.

Yep... And half the people guiltily hid their laptops.

  • my space is now dead

  • aha we were watching this in class

  • @totallylinz369 Lol same

  • This video is pretty cool. The one that stuck out the most was China being the country to speak the most english.

  • @dltwrn I doubt that.

  • this video is such bullshit. my teacher showed me this. what a fucking dumb bitch. all she does with her life is facebook and popplet. i hope she reads this "this is Ryan Mrs Brewer" fucking dumb bitch.

  • I hope my class sees this comment This iS Reid

  • that part about technical information really ticks me off because the stuff they teach at college doesnt really change all that much from year to year, so what im learning now has been taught the same exact way as it has been for quite some time, and that outdated info could just be usless information that im paying to learn -_-

    i hate the system sometimes

  • we are prepairing students for jobs that dont exist yet, using technologies that havent been invented yet....how is that possible?

  • This video was a required "look-see" by a Sinclair Community College course (Management 110). It is a good "starter" for a conversation about the aspects of technology and innovation in globalization, don't you think? It makes a lot of other norms in our lives (e.g., religion) seem static, don't you think?

  • :O

  • I got one thing to say about this. terminator

  • Yeah I remember seeing this, people shouldn't be afraid. Remember this saying: "Living in the future is just as bad as living in the past, so live in the present without regret".

  • If human brains helped build the super computer then their computational capabilities are still better.

  • @chocomars what reasoning could there be to thinking that the creation cannot exceed the creator?

besides, computers will probably do a fair amount of the designing.

  • The music fits the video

  • Wow this is saying how advanced the human race is getting with every year!! It gives you chills to think that by 2013 which isn't to far from now there will be a computer that will be a able to talk and problem solve like a real HUMAN!!! it is very interesting!! by the way there might already be one called WATSON. It's a IBM computer that is very smart! So yea this video is pretty cool!!

  • @haponte101 Watson is no where near as fast as the human brain but the programing that was developed for Watson is a start to a computerized brain. Watson is a new bread of information searching and decision making.

  • @haponte101 sorry to break your bubble, but the 2013 one would be a SUPER computer, which are generally quite massive and would not fit within a humanoid shell.

also, now we have sorta hit a little bump in computer advancements.

With the physical limits of how small we can make our circuit components (namely transistors) approaching, we are advancing a lil slower. Dont worry though, soon nanotech or quantum or optical (or even biological) computers should become feasible. =D

  • @radiusxdYT agreed, I can imagine 2013 that computers have terabytes of memory performing complex calculations but having supercomputers exceeds computational capabilities compared to humans is an overstatement. With our technology right now(without the nanotechnology), supercomputers will still be big as it is and not achieving the level of a human brain.

The real deal here is nanotech, it's cheap and everything will become small. IMO, 2003 is too early.

  • Spurious pieces of information portrayed as "FACT!" with no citation or evidence to suggest their veracity.

FACT: 3 out of every 10 people accept information listed as FACT: without questioning it.R.B.

  • @cwbokie Agreed, most of these are 'subjective' facts, meaning it cannot be proven(using statistics), for example China becoming the top english country. We know that China is a communist country (blocking google, censored searches on the internet), how can it be an english country, if they think they can handle out their own country like Japan. Btw, the last statement about illegal download is a hoax:

    w w w . p2pnet . net/story/18811

It's a Sony (CONSPIRACY), creating fake 'awareness'

  • lol @ this video and the computers freezing.

  • WTFF??? why would i need to know 1:25, 1:36 yes i did know

  • And since there will be a super computer with more computational capabilities than the human brain by 2013, that's when SkyNet will take over the world

  • @Tigerlvr12 but it cant think for itself(im pretty sure), which means it still has to be operated by a human, meaning that it is not possible. And how can you build a machine smarter than you? seriously people i dont get this

  • @BrianMastermind not ALL computers need to be physically operated by a human...ther are computers that just process data without any operation by a human. wich i think is what kind of computer it may be. but also...the year will b 2013...thats 2 years away...we dont even know what kind of technology we'll have by then

  • @DarkOmegaZero yeah but they need to be programmed before hand to do it

  • @BrianMastermind it didn't say that the computer would be smarter than a human, it just said that it could do calculations faster than the human brain. but you are right because a computer is only as smart as the person that invents and programmed the computer, but it can be faster;.......

  • @Tigerlvr12 but still thumbs up on comment lol

  • @Tigerlvr12 Don't worry. John Connor will save us

  • @Tigerlvr12 Kind of scary actually...

  • @Tigerlvr12 And then nuke itself into nonexistance?

  • @Tigerlvr12 What the heck is sky net????

  • @Tigerlvr12 And I also seriously doubt that a computer will exceed our computational abilities.

  • thumbs up if after watching this video you realize that you dont know all that you thought you did

  • @aslchinchilla i would like to find out what that music is

  • US population is less than 5% compared to China's 25% and India's 20% of the world total. We Americans are not the center of the universe. This video presents concerns that should never concern us. Who really cares about how the world views Americans or how we view the world? We should see the world without boarders.

  • @robinsonworld That idea of open borders is not going very well in Europe, or dont you read the news?

  • the music definitely sets the tone...be aware! or maybe...be afraid!

  • @aslchinchilla It's just you.

  • thats a sick beat.

  • Who is the artist of this music, its great and yes creepy, i love it

  • its called a technological revolution and if anything its positive i bet the people who made this were a bunch of conservative old people, who cares if people text, use the internet, or search on google,

  • Okay, so is this video trying to scare us, or just impress us with a load of useless stats? Frankly, I'm neither scared, nor impressed. For all I know, these stats could be false.

  • Bermuda isn't a country :D

  • whole bunch of crap stats that are not controlled. Not controlled for inflation, population increases, job increase, purchasing power. Its an commercial meant to scare but it has no merit what so ever.

  • It's all relative

  • it means that we are unhappier as a species than ever before.

  • @aslchinchilla it's fat boy slim!!

  • Lots of fake versions online circulating. This one correct, but is outdated as of 2010. Google does roughly 88 billion+ searches per month (probably outdated by the time you read this) and NTT in Japan have researchers pushing 100 trillion bps

  • Did you know that 90% of all arguments between men and women are due to the fact that we speak 2 completely different, hidden sub languages, the male vs. the female language. And that's why we fight so much? Did you know that my course has the answers for single men, married men and women? click on my link and then go to my website!

  • This song was the theme song to "ON any given Sunday" with Al Pacino and Jamie fox! A Movie on the struggles of professional football...

  • Amazing!

  • It is estimated that a weeks worth of the new york times contains more information than a person was likely to come across in a lifetime in the 18th century

TIME TO RENEW MY SUBSCRIPTION NOW :)

  • this is intense

  • @ShayneexD they said that 70% of information in the video is 100% made up; but its like a joke...that fact was made up. The information is real

  • if you read the 4.0 version, they say that 70% of the facts in the video are false, and 30 % is true, that sucks. they are conning you. :(

  • I wonder how many babys were MADE during this vid ^•^

  • @scenechickadoo48 about 1700 babies

  • Stop being so afraid people, embrace change. It might help to learn Hindi as well..

  • I noticed there is an error. An exabyte is 10^18 power. NOT 10^19.

  • I feel so sorry for my future children and grandchildren. They won't know what hit them.

  • EXCELLENT! I'm so moved and I love my course which is Multimedia Arts.. It's about the future....

  • That was amazing :D

  • The funny thing is, now Facebook has over 3 billion users--close to half the worlds population. Now THAT'S a big continent O.o

  • @McJungleG Dude i think you were informed wrong,there are 300 000 000 users using facebook,And that is 300 milion,not 3 billion

  • @rebornile your both misinformed, it's 500 million. check out the stats

  • @McJungleG Facebook has over 500 million users. Where did you get that number from?

  • @CSpan1993 its 2 years to get over 50 million

  • @CSpan1993 Facebook now has over 800 million members now. just think you made that comment barely a year ago...indeed exponential.

  • @McJungleG 3 billion? wtf lol

  • THIS IS ONE OF MY TOP 10 YOUTUBE VIDEO IT IS THE BEST VIDEO EVER

THE WORST PART IS THE ALL IN IT IS TRUE !!!!

  • OMG, 395 babies in 4 minutes.. it's amazing.!

  • Damn...had no clue about most of this..not sure if I'm looking forward for the future.

  • I love this music

  • it is so wonderful!! cool~

  • AWESOME VIDEO!

  • Please watch this video with your students. Here are some processing questions:

What struck you in this video? Why? How will this information affect your career chances and choices? How has technology impacted your life? Give me a real example. What does this video tell you about the future and what you need to do today?

  • Thanks god I'm going to be dead way before any off this bullshit catches up with us and starts causing a fucking mega cluster-fuck of problems hahaha

  • Love how this information is stated "as a matter of factly" when I don't see sources in the description. Interesting, but I bet snopes would rip it apart.

  • @Draygonia you don't need to source common knowledge, which most of this was.

  • son of a gun technology is going to outsmart us, then destroy us!

  • I think the main point of the video is how fast our society and world is evolving, it's almost impossible to keep up to the technology. Aside from the creepy music, i think the message behind a presentation as this is rather terrifying. Our children and their way of life is changing massively, maybe we should consider how they are taught in our schools, and life in general.

  • you know this is old because they talk about myspace. even though it is popular, facebook exceeds it.

  • Glad to be Indian

  • @aslchinchilla No, it's just you :D Norman Cook would not know how to do creepy music let alone super creepy music. ;) I imagine it is actually the thought provoking video itself that is "creeping" you out.

  • No, this is the 2009 edition. Hence complete stats from 2008 you tool, and the 8 others who clicked like on the top comment.

  • i learned more from this than school

  • @flipboi87 And that is the issue! Information is spreading so fast and changing daily.

Universities will not exist due to the inability to teach courses that are current and relevant while the world moves closer by the day to a knowledge based arena.

The world is changing and some people do not even see it.

  • @flipboi87 youre afuckin idiot then. lol fag

  • @redgibson1 you're the one who managed to find my comment among hundreds of others and i posted it almost a year ago. guess that makes you a fag as well.

  • @flipboi87 thats cause 37 other fags "vote up"ed your comment. dumbass

  • @redgibson1 lol u mad

  • it means 42.

  • I like how the video self-contradicts -- eg, it didn't take 4 years for there to be a 50m market for the Internet, given that it even says there were 1,000 Internet devices in 1984. If they meant the World Wide Web, well, maybe. I don't honestly know the stats for that. But the Internet has been around sine the 80s.

  • @rekenner ha!! you got a point there man, i guess he had to choose 5 years in the history of the interenet where it reached 50mil, probably not in the 80`s

  • @aslchinchilla no it's super creepy!

  • at least the last stat gave me hope. popular music sucks anyway. it used to be the voice of youth and a political rallying cry. now it's just another corporate opiate for the people, helping to dumb everyone down and keep them passive.

  • Marketing "Genuis" hmmmm ? Try again, genius.

  • Okay, the 25% of India's population with the highest IQ's is greater that the total population of the United States. Do they not realize that all they are saying is that the United States' population is less than 25% of India's population? It doesn't explain their definition of the "highest IQ's" So if 85% of the population were mentally handicapped, even 10% of those highest IQ's could be below average IQ but still qualify for India's highest.

  • that was wonderful, thats my song baby, cant believe that this was presented at colleges and stuff, very good information, im glad im in engineering

  • yea, it is 2008 edition. i watched it 3 times in school this week. the whole supercomputer part reminds me of SkyNet. WE SHOULD HAVE LISTENED TO TERMINATOR

  • Does anyone know the formula for figuring out the frequency of something like at 04:14-04:37 given the total number in one year?

  • It means that the world is coming to an end!

  • so what does it all mean?...bugger all really if you are going to worry yourself with all this keeping up with the world and not living your own life you are on for a breakdown, Im sure all those indians and chinese get on fine without thinking about me just like me them.

this video is forgetting we ar eall individuals and not vast statistics.

  • @Marcus538 I like the skepticism, but you're wrong. Those Indians and Chinese are thinking, working, and dreaming all about us and whatever they can do to be more like us. It is us who gets along without thinking about them, and that's what's crazy - the surprise that waits for us around the corner of the globe.

  • @brentdavidson1 How does a globe have a corner?

  • @aslchinchilla I first heard it in an intense chase scene in a tv show

  • my entire school got shown this as an assembly, to get us talking. Well it worked :D

  • Don't say yay 2 comptures r u stupid they might kill us all in the future duh!

  • @genuis56 that's stupid why would they kill us unless we built them with feelings or somebody hacked it and i don't see how they would duh!

  • Thank you technology. Now, give us space travelling please. :)

  • if technology keeps progressing at the speed it is, i say that in a hundred years or so, computer will either

    A. do all our thinking for us, thus turning all the human race into unintelligent blobs

    or

    B. they will rule us all, and start making their own 'super technology' that will later turn on them as they turned on us.

  • the 99 percent of this things is the percent i didnt know

  • wad song is this?? :D

  • @Arabia8 fatboy slim (artist) right here right now (song)

  • Beam me up Scottie!

  • Verry cool video

  • It all means the rate of change of human capabilities are rising ever higher....... woohoo!

  • Can somebody please tell Hal to open the pod bay doors!

  • watch the second one..it says all this is fake no joke

  • @rocker4579 nah it onli saysy that second video is fake, not this one

  • keep your children away from video games and don't eat too much beans.

  • This is VERY interesting to see how quick the world is changing...

  • pff.. this was from 2007, they are even talking about myspace.. where's facebook in all of this?

  • @dfpcmaia It's mentioned at 2:44.

  • @AslanCross oh yeah.... oops.

  • this is 2008 version

  • This makes me feel so small and worthless.

  • 694.000 songs were downloaded! and that's just me:D

  • This video is actually 2008 edition.

  • this video makes me feel like haruhi suzumiya

  • @gaaralee1234 LOL find any espers / aliens / time travelers?

  • @ImaStealYoHat Of course not! My life wouldn't be good enough for that to happen!

    (insert Kyon logic here)

  • it means do we have the power to master ourself ? well do we?

  • I love this vid it's very interesting and educating!

  • HOLY CRAP!!!!!

  • china, speak english? i dont think so

  • @adawilkes1 you would think that, but there are people who just won't give a damn no matter what happens.

  • I say, it DOES look like it's created by Earnst & Young. Or are is it just the colors? = )

  • the biggest mystery in humanity is wtf the chick is saying in this song

  • At this time, there are 3 million people masturbating to The Teletubies!

  • what song is that? And this makes me feel so paranoid it hurts.

  • OH my GOD!! It is the SINGULARITY!!! Run for your lives!!

  • ah the simple key note

    this is child's play...

  • A lot of this information is kind of ridiculous. Like the kids in India vs the kids in the US. You would have to compare the percentage to their respective population, which this video didn't do. And like someone already said, the education in the US, for the most part, is superior to that of India.

    Interesting video overall I suppose.

  • it's a great clip but already dated

  • "By 2013 a supercomputer will be built that exceeds the computational capabilities of the human brain" Somehow I don't think this is going to happen! One a computer is only as clever as the person that designed and programmed it! And two if this were true it would mean biological computing which they haven't pulled off yet! If they do they reckon it could hack all anti virus on the world in a few milliseconds I think is what I heard!

  • China and India can have more honor kids than the US but education quality of a US student is much higher than of China or India.

  • @AmmoBravo - you're probably right but give it 25 years and that'll change

  • Comment removed

  • i think it is great...knowing so much more about how our whole world has developed since 2004 is AMAZING

  • Question everything.

    What?

  • nothing wrong to watch it for entertainment.

But i do believe the fact the reading too much makes mind over processed which causes slower growth of physical body, apart too much information to process.

  • @sdjkqs

    And Penis

  • Its quite amazing that we went from being so primitive to building machines who have better computational abilities than our brains...

  • this vidoe was freaking crazy this was just amazing i am faving it
