@glendoyle21 Yes, the grave is exactly where you say. Our group was able to find it with very little trouble.

Now, here is where the account gets a bit hazy... at least 1 report I found said he was burried in a marked grave near his mother, but the grave was heavily vandalised, so the body was moved to a seperate grave and left unmarked. Other sources say he was never buried in a marked grave, just buried on the outskirts (or outside the cemetery grounds) in an unmarked grave.

Either way, the story continues that his soul still does not rest in peace, and haunts the cemetary to this day.

I've been doing research on this for a while. Billy Cook, as you all know, was a murderer who killed (at least) a dozen people. When he was finally caught, he was brought to California to be tried for the murder of Robert Dewey. He was sentenced to death by gas chamber. His body was later returned to Joplin, where no graveyard wanted to have the body. Peace Church, where his parents were buried, decided to take him. [more in next post]

I live in Joplin and I've been to Peace Church Cemetery many times and once I took pictures. I got a lot of "orbs" in my pictures too but just like a lot of people are saying, they could be just dust or bugs, but who knows.

ashetim21, sorry didn't see your post! So Bill Cook does have a headstone but a blank one huh? My mom was raised in Joplin. Neat town.

Isn't Billy Cook buried in the little fenced family area. If you go into Peace Cemetery it's straight back on the right side. I don't think there is a headstone for him. My mom went to school with him. He's in the class school picture she has. I took a picture out at Peace Cemetery, some of my ancestors are buried there. In one there appears to be a fuzzy type of spot in it.

@tiwisa1 I live within a mile of Peace Church. I am a life long Joplin resident. I can tell that Billy is actually buried in an unmarked grave on the property. Folks who claim to know where his grave are are just speculating.

Billy committed such horrible crimes that respectable folks didn't even want his body in their graveyards! So, he was buried in secret at night. One day, I'll post the whole story.

I am from Joplin, MO and I know exactly where his grave is, someone has kicked it over, but it is still laying there. It is about 2 feet in length with absolutely nothing written on it. There is a cook family plot in the back right side of the cemetary, look just back west outside the fence of the family plot and there you will find Billy Cooks Grave.

Also, I do like the fact you did not conclude the cemetery was haunted on just an EMF reading and orb picture.

I would not say orbs suck, but they can definitely be dust kicked up. You would need more to be more "convincing" but never heard of the place will have to check it out. Click my link for my video I have of two of IL's haunted cemeteries, Aux Sable and Bachelor's Grove Cemetery.
