Thanks for this. I was considering the blackouts for an 8 string I'm saving up for to play some post-rock. Good to know they can sound really nice clean. I'm hoping the 8 string model sounds as nice
So the blackouts do clean up really well and are good for more than spine ripping death metal. How is the note clarity in person? I can listen all day on youtube and not know much. When I play a chord on distortion it has no clarity on the upper half of the guitar on all my guitars and I'm just about to say fuck it and buy the guitar you have with the blacks. Any response is appriciated.
the clarity & note seperation is amazing with these pickups, however if ur gear isnt up to it u wil notice, however,my crappy boss DS1 now has more note seperation & clarity but i dont play with a lot of gain these days...
you can get any pickups to sound clean if you roll your volume knob down a bit, in the video they amp has an input gain stage on the clean channel so its all the way down, depening on your amp with depend on how clean you can get it with the volume on your guitar up full
@sdBlackouts I don't use any distortion pedals of any kind. I'm buying an Ibanez and running it through my peavey viper 75. I hate how most of my guitars have no separation on distortion(and clean if I play hard enough). The lower strings just drown them out. I figure I may as well give actives a try seeing that I mainly play metal. Thanks for your response.
@sdBlackouts Does rolling back the tone knob on the guitar affect the guitar tone?? (except being quieter of course). I have the Blackouts for 7 strings and I get great Distortion tones, but not so good clean ones... because they get distorted and my Amp is very versatile (ENGL INVADER) but no way to get pristine clean sounds rolling back the all the gain knobs on it... thanks and greets from Spain
@CARRENOchristian1 sorry dude no red hot chili peppers song was played in this vid plus the song u r thinking of isn't called called city of angels it's called under the bridge dickhead
Because Ibanez RGs are decent quality and offer a lot for their price tag. I like them better than Dean, Schecter,Jackson, ESP, etc when comparing guitars in the entry and mid level range.
I have not used either, but from what i have heard abh-2's are better. but like most things you better off going to shop and trying them out especially when your going to drop 150 - 200 dollars on them.. I would make sure you like them first. especially an active pickup
no problem, i just got a half stack and I was like damn i spent a lot of money on this when i could've got like the new peavey vypyr 120w combo, save a lot of dough and had something a lot more flexible. But i still love my halfstack cause you can't beat it, but point is a 100 watts is more than enough
theres nothing wrong with his amp. its digital. it sounds just like the real thing. but after a while he will realize the difference between digital and tube. i have the stack version of his. its the line 6 spider 3 hd75 i think. but i noticed the difference n got a mesa boogie dual rectifier cuz i was always on that channel on the line 6 =]
thank for your defense dude.. but i only play at home and have no desire to play in a band so im yet to find an amp that can be as versatile as my spider III for home use,
iv played valve amps and to play at talking volume its impossible, i tried that black heart killer ant and it rubbish, its noisy and doesn't have enough gain for metal or versatility for various kinds of music, its good at one thing, overdrive blues or basic rock styles but meh.. not for me.. so my spider does the job for what I need and there is not reason to get a new amp when this one does what I want. A valve amp wont make me a better player, just make my wallet smaller.
hey nice sound! is that an rg? creed is amazing btw! and your amp is fine, a whole lot better than my peavey any day!

abh2 is the more extream pickup however even many metalers prefer abh1s abh2 perhaps too over the top
