@Bubz73 i think he will stay cause f the stuff he can learn from mcnabb imagine a qb like mcnabb except young and healthy who can run just as fast, and just as well
@icantfindaname7 He's the backup QB for the 6 and 1 Calgary Stampeders. He's gonna be a good CFL QB imo. Coach John Hufnagel who was a QB at Penn St. in the late 70's hand picked him.
@icantfindaname7 i also forgot to mention Coach John Hufnagel was the offensive Co-ordinator in Calgary for /Doug Flutie and Jeff Garcia, so Daryll is in good hands.
love psu hate clark... pat devlin all day.... daryll clark is one of the worst qbs to pass through penn state... imagine if he didnt have the recieving core he did
@cleemeyer1 Come on man.... Look at all the loses we had with Clark, other than the Iowa loss back in 08 against Iowa, it was poor O-line protection. He rarely made poor decisions. Your telling me that you'd rather have Morelli than Clark?
@cleemeyer1 We'll see, then again we may not see either won. Just because one players better in college doesn't mean they transit better in the NFL. I mean look at JaMarcus Russel.... if you keep asking the list goes on. Clark was a good QB, one of the better QB's we had this decade
That was one of the most uninformed, unobjective comments I've ever read. He was one of the "best" PSU QB's ever, not one of the worst. Why do I get the resounding feeling that the problem you have with him is his skin color more so than his QB play?
Pat Devlin had the same WR's and couldn't sniff the field. He had to demote himself to DII because he couldn't cut it at the D1 level. Neither will make it as a pro QB... #3 at best on the depth chart.
@JunmaiShu You're mostly right, but Devlin transferred, not because he couldn't cut it at FBS (he didn't go to a D2 school, it was DI-FCS), but because he was upset that he wasn't the co-starter like he was the first four games (he mostly had mopup duty against Illionois and beyond). I think he could have done just fine at most D-I schools, but Clark just happened to be a little better. Just had to point that out.
Yeah I went a little overboard there. It's just irritating to see comments like that and I felt obligated to retaliate. It's absurd to call him one of the worst QB's in PSU history when the opposite is true. In my lifetime only Collins was better. Blackledge had more success, but a better supporting cast by which to obtain it. Judging on pure skills alone I'd have Clark ahead of him. Pre-injury Mills would be #2, but when you take his entire body of work into account... no.
@JunmaiShu I knew what you were saying, but the best advice I can give in this circumstance in YouTube arguments is to avoid letting your emotion cloud your judgement when trying to make a statement, otherwise you risk saying something entirely different from what you meant to say (I've been guilty of that too). But it's a shame that Mills got hurt, 2002 could have been better, and 2003-2004 we may have at least been bowl eligible (well, 2004 anyway).
I'm also far from sold on this defense just yet. You have to consider that the offense was so poor that day that the D looked great by default. I want to see it against a quality opponent before I "crown them". I don't see this unit being like the 2003-2004 ones like you suggested, JMO. I do think they will put more points on the board than those teams did though, thankfully. Yes the media has an SEC/B12 bias, but objectively the B10 isn't as strong as it used to be.
@JunmaiShu That's true that the B10 is not as strong as we used to be, but we're still better than the ACC, whose lower level teams regularly get waxed by FCS teams, and the Big East. However, I am a bit worried about the 2010 defense, but we won't give up 42+ points, I can guarantee that. Alabama will be Judgement Day for our defense. However, if Youngstown State scores more than 14 on us, I'm going to be concerned going into the Bama game, more than 21 and it's panic time.
@MVillani1985 But still, I just hope we do better than I think we'll do. Worst case scenario we do 4-8, but there's a decent chance we'll beat Minneosta and Illinois, which will put us at 6-6 and bowl eligible. Now, as a tiny shred of optimism, if you remember, going into 2008, people had us picked to finish 7th in the Big Ten and maybe miss a bowl, we ended up playing in the Rose Bowl. That won't happen here, but it might mean I'm overreacting with my 4-8 to 6-6 prediction.
@JunmaiShu because he doesnt like clark hes racist? your an idiot. You think clark is better than devlin, are you racist? stop being a retard.. and by the way he wasnt starting because he wasnt the same physical specimen as clark and because clark was the older more mature qb, which is why devlin transferred because he knew he was better and didnt want to wait for the job, pat devlin is going to the same school joe flacco went to..
@JunmaiShu , when is the last time you have seen a good psu qb in the pros, devlin will accell much more than clark in the pros and come in a year or two later
Never... which supports my theory even more since he was a PSU recruit. He wasn't good enough to beat Clark out for the job, regardless of the spin I've seen many a bigot use to rationalize why, the bottom line is Clark was flat out better than him. When he came into the OSU game he didn't attempt a single pass because the staff had no confidence in him.
He looks much better now going up against talent of a similar skill set (DII).
@cleemeyer1 Are you serious? Do you remember Matt Senaca? He led us to a 1-5 start in 2001 (he made Morelli look like Kerry Collins), before Zach Mills almost saved our season. And besides, Clark is a good QB, he might not be as good as Robinson or Collins, but he was damned close at times. With Clark at the helm, we never once suffered a blowout loss (I don't consider USC and Ohio State blowout losses), and with him as the starter, we only had four losses.
@MVillani1985 haha looks like you used google and got your facts together to reply to his comment months later... say your opinions others will say theres, i too believe devlin will be the more adapted pro ready qb... he accells skill wise and runs a pro style offense while clark doesnt... college is fun but pros is where you make money
@sickflowdojo1986 Do you really think I spent months googling before replying to someone's comment months later? No, I just found this recently. A gap in comments doesn't mean that one spent months researching. People can find things months, years later even. Now, I don't know who will be more succesful, but it's foolish to assume Clark won't have success, pro football is using dual threat QBs more, the era of the immobile QB is fading. Even pocket passers are becoming more mobile.
was he even draffted this year to play for the nfl?
