Is it Autotune you're using on Phil's voice? I'm interested to know how you did this - did you managed to isolate the vocal from the rest of the track somehow?

@djspam80 I think the mixer is just as impressed by Phil Collins as you. We all love the originals. I'm sure Phil favors musical freedom and art. Just relax and keep listening to the original track. I think this mix is a respectful take on the original tune.
I love the combined beats, and how the distortion in Phil Collin's voice varies during the song. However, I think that the 6-7 'taking away my last chance' was seriously unnecessary; it borderlines annoying. Still a great remix, though.

However I wanted to hear a funkier, breakbeat based version, and I wanted to hear Mikes guitar solo with no other sound to hide it, so I remixed it. A remix isn't a cover version, its a re-mix. Yes I used a computer, as well as a synth.
It's not intended to replace the original version, its an added bonus for people who like both dance music and Genesis.
Awful! Very typical of peeps taking classic songs and ruining them. And what is with the "voice box"? Daft Funk this is not so why make it sound that way? Was perfect just like it was. One either makes or breaks classics with a 'remix'...this didnt break it, it shattered it. Terrible.
This is really cool, but the drum beat is just a little distractingly upbeat -- the sort of bell-ringing noise and the tambourine particularly. Other than that -- vocals and tempo sound great.
Now hears an idea - why not try a remix of 'Silver Rainbow' from the same album. That one is crying out for a remix - the beat is almost dance already, the lyrics are sexual, and it's drenched in hooks.
Very good effort, laden with catchy hooks, care of Collins's original vocal.
The hooks could've been better utilised: 'You're taking away my last chance' should have had a beat brought behind it, but instead the momentum of the track is lost for a while.
Other hooks such as 'Ha ha!' and 'Don't go' could also be better placed to add excitement.
Less autotune (cheesey nowadays) and a catchy bassline would also help to make this the classic it has the potential to be. Fine effort.
Thanks for the comments NSA, but I really like Autotune - the less human a vocal sounds, the more I like it. Its just my preferencece...in the same way I preferred the bassline of my Aisle Of Plenty remix to have a different final note to the original bassline ;)

Ok..to begin, i was hesitant to view this video..as a genesis purist i was skeptecal (to say the least) however...HOLY SH*T THAT WAS FANTASTIC! very very surprised and pleased with the outcome..didnt expect the beat of it would do the song such justice, and the sync with the video is impeciable! well done on updating a real classic...I bet if Phil saw this he himself would be impressed...i sure the hell was! Really well done remix. The Cher effect is a bit much at first but it grows on you. "Mama" is an all too often overlooked classic by Genesis. More Genesis remixes to come?

Ok..to begin, i was hesitant to view this video..as a genesis purist i was skeptecal (to say the least) however...HOLY SH*T THAT WAS FANTASTIC! very very surprised and pleased with the outcome..didnt expect the beat of it would do the song such justice, and the sync with the video is impeciable! well done on updating a real classic...I bet if Phil saw this he himself would be impressed...i sure the hell was! Thanks for posting this, adding it to my faves straight away!

When someone takes the time to type a comment like this, it can really make someone elses day...after so many comments from people who don't get it, or think I'm trying going to go round their house at night and tape over Mama on their original copy of "Shapes" with my remix whilst they're asleep.

It's kinda cool. But in my opinion, the original is far better. Perhaps because this just feels too darn fast. Still cool that you could do this.

Really well done remix. The Cher effect is a bit much at first but it grows on you. "Mama" is an all too often overlooked classic by Genesis. More Genesis remixes to come?
