White faced hornets, I read they are yellow jackets that are black and white. Here in the states we do not have any real hornets. I'm so confused. I thought wasps were the skinny long bee type units that build mud nests. ARGGGG, I wish people would make up their minds on what is what.
You said the wasps would eventually desert the nest, Once they are gone is their any use left for the nest? I doubt the paper they make is able to be written on.
I'd have to say, if I saw a wasp nest that big near my house. They wouldn't last that long, but great information with the video and great video quality. Looking forward to your next vid.
I'll tell you, those white faced hornets are wicked nasty. Their sting is so painful (I've been told). Good thing you had the protective gear- great video.
Another top notch video from Hila Road! Im so glad you have started putting up videos again! I think I have learned as much from you as I did throughout school.
I know what paper wasps look like because I had a nes that had about 20 of them and those arent paper wasps they are bald face hornets.

but how come the nest is deserted when there is a queen hybernating?

@mehigh2marsiansky
The new queens (the fertile doughters of the old queen who dies before winter) hibernate elsewhere in woles, under tree bark, etc.
