I recently realised that (frighteningly) most, if not all, of the fictional characters I fancy are actually serial killers. Hannibal is a new member of my list.

Ummm, in the original movie, why didn't he just cut the chain with the knife? I mean, it couldn't have been much harder than cutting off his OWN hand!
Seems like he loved her as much as he was able to love anyone...but given that he's a sociopath, that probably wasn't much. I thought they should have kept this ending instead of the other one, because I really can't see him cutting off his OWN hand; his self preservation instincts seemed too strong for that, and it rang false to me.
When I first saw 'Silence Of The Lambs' Hannibal REALLY creeped me out. Though, I will say that their is a stronge sex appeal when it comes to him, but perhapes that's what makes him turly terrifiying. He's a cannibal, and yet, you can fall in love with him.
I've only see Silence of the Lambs, but I REALLY wish they would have gotten the original actress, Jodie Foster, to portray Clarice again in this sequel. Because of that I don't really want to see this movie - I'm sure its good, it just doesn't seem like the same character anymore. I dunno, I guess I just always wanted a kiss between the original Clarice and Hannibal - that would have been HOT DAMNNNN.

To the people who think serial killers are sexy heroes: Hannibal Lecter is sexy. I, like many other out there, also would have loved it if the movie had followed through with the original ending in the book, where the two of them run away together and begin a formal relationship. However, please realize that in the real world this would be far from romantic. Case in point: Richard Ramirez (aka The Night Stalker). Google him. Read about his crimes. Then see the part where women sent him fan mail

So actually Anthony is really reconised as sexy, but with all attributes of Hannibal Lecter, being Hannibal. And the mindframe of Hannibal. He kills, but he's so intelectual, and so just whimsical really. A gentleman, even though he's capable of ruthlessly murdering and does. I can't find this same sexyness in actual killers. I'm in love (so to speak), with his story.

Who didn't like this?! My 8th grade teacher didn't like it when we did our "who is your hero" thing and I wrote a 3 page essay on how amazing and sexy Hannibal Lecter is. Apparently he's way to old for me and I shouldn't have been alloud to read those books or let into that movie (I did both, my aunt was with me and they let me in!)...they made a parent/teacher conference and everything! :D Now I'm much older and wiser and...Yeah, he's still friggin fine.
@StrangeShipper good for you . i consider many killers (real and fictional) to be my heroes. and i too got in trouble in middle school for writing (to quote Mrs. Elliot) "a sickening" paper. in my hopes and dreams paper i noted that i always wanted to see the effects of drain-o being forcibly pumped down someones throat. i was almost to expelled and arrested later that day. i had to clarify that would never actually do this and i have never even thought of doing this(which was a lie).

mmm. i love how he kisses her hard first and then does those airy, brushy kisses that make my eyes roll back in my head. i must sound crazy, but i wish he licked her, like her bottom lip or along her jaw. i really wish she had reacted to the kiss even if for just a second but i guess that would just be unrealistic. i know she feels something but she just suppresses it so damn well.

I fucking loved this scene both in the movie and the book. Plus both Jodie and Julianne made terrific Clarices, Jodie being more open about her feelings while Julianne making a tougher, more mature Clarice.
Also, I lol'd when I read that after having a plastic surgery in Argentina Hannibal looked like Perón.
This is SO far from the book and I really can't guess just WHY. I thinks a signal of the different ending was the color of her dress...white in the book and black in the movie; sounds like a warning, you know...anyway, both the film and the movie are just gorgeous. And they're so brilliant a ship! Love 'em together :D

Also... I love Dr. Lecter and I'm sure its because he fascinates me, his past which led him to become what he is. I also know that I find the darker side of the human physche interesting, most do.
Hannibal/Clarice is one of the best romance stories in my opinion. Maybe because I don't usually like romance in movies, or I'm just a sicko. Whatever works, I still love it.
The way he hovers over her after the kiss just makes me shiver. Sir Anthony Hopkins is one of the most amazing actors that ever lived. And yea, I would totally kiss him back. ;)

julianne moore should use the accent jodie foster did in the silence of the lambs...this is a really romantic scene...they've should use this one instead of the other one...
i think they should have used this scene as the endening, instead of him being handcuffed to her, and cutting off his own hand to get away. . this ending is more romantic.

I thought it was only me who feels that way about Hannibal...we went to Florence recently and I made it all about Hannibal...The Palazzo Vecchio...all of it. There's just something about him.

Not a Sicko at all. 'Hanny' is polite, charming; cultured and educated --the man knows what he is doing. He comes from a good family, a royal bloodline with considerable holdings. He is chivalrous, and he detests bad manners.

Though I do prefer the movie ending to the book's. The prospect of them ever ending up together is beyond far-fetched in my book, although clearly not in Thomas Harris' mind lol I just think it adds more purity and realism to their relationship. I like the idea of him forever pining for her, the price he has to pay for the monstrous acts. That's his real prison, his unrequited love for her.

@OuttaEgypt Don't be embarrassed. ;-) Ever read the book? In the book, this stupid ending never happened. It is completely different, but I suppose it wasn't quite 'Hollywood' enough. And in the book "Hannibal Rising" you find out where Hannibal got his dark side from...in the film Mason Verger said Hannibal was attracted to pain and distress. He is, but not in the way Mason thinks. He is an anti-hero, and he often protects the victims, not the evil. The real story is in the books.
Is this even on the DVD? I've never seen this one! I almost like it as much, if even more. Him just withdrawing, it's a little closer to the actual book, shows how far he would go for her.
She leaves with him after they dine on Krendler's brain together. Several years later, they're spotted in Argentina by Barney, who's there on vacation. Barney leaves immediately, without them ever knowing he'd seen them.

mmm. i love how he kisses her hard first and then does those airy, brushy kisses that make my eyes roll back in my head. i must sound crazy, but i wish he licked her, like her bottom lip or along her jaw. i really wish she had reacted to the kiss even if for just a second but i guess that would just be unrealistic. i know she feels something but she just suppresses it so damn well.

I fucking loved this scene both in the movie and the book. Plus both Jodie and Julianne made terrific Clarices, Jodie being more open about her feelings while Julianne making a tougher, more mature Clarice.
Also, I lol'd when I read that after having a plastic surgery in Argentina Hannibal looked like Perón.

This is SO far from the book and I really can't guess just WHY. I thinks a signal of the different ending was the color of her dress...white in the book and black in the movie; sounds like a warning, you know...anyway, both the film and the movie are just gorgeous. And they're so brilliant a ship! Love 'em together :D

Though I do prefer the movie ending to the book's. The prospect of them ever ending up together is beyond far-fetched in my book, although clearly not in Thomas Harris' mind lol I just think it adds more purity and realism to their relationship. I like the idea of him forever pining for her, the price he has to pay for the monstrous acts. That's his real prison, his unrequited love for her.

@OuttaEgypt Don't be embarrassed. ;-) Ever read the book? In the book, this stupid ending never happened. It is completely different, but I suppose it wasn't quite 'Hollywood' enough. And in the book "Hannibal Rising" you find out where Hannibal got his dark side from...in the film Mason Verger said Hannibal was attracted to pain and distress. He is, but not in the way Mason thinks. He is an anti-hero, and he often protects the victims, not the evil. The real story is in the books.
