  • your snare drum looks a little low i think you should lift everything just a little but

  • what pedal are you using?

  • Everything is great, but the kick sounds pretty dreadful!. I would try tuning the bottom head of that floor tom so the top and bottom are equal, rather than the usual floor tom setup where the batter is tighter and the reso is loosened right down. Might get rid of that dead sloppy thud to something a little more tonal, but still musical.

  • Are you sure that's an 18"? Because I have one of those brackets and I tried this on a 90s Ludwig 18" and it's too short to fit on the legs.

  • thank you

  • I'm doin the same thing but with a double bass pedal

  • That's cool

  • cool idea, this is all you need

  • I really like this, i think im going to get a cheap 18" floor tom and build one. I think you could proably put a coated twin ply head on the bottom with a little bit dampening to get more of a kick sound and a single on top to use as a tom. Also if you have a mapex kit like me you could mount the rack tom on the floor tom too.

  • great job, and great drumming. Thanks for the inspiration!

  • hahaha i got a beanie baby in there

  • Thanks for a greatly informative vid. I was laughing at your demeanor the whole time. Cool. :)

  • DW makes a pedal that kicks up u should use that

  • awesome. thanks for the help!

  • Nice set! I have an old drum kit gathering dust n the garage and I htink I am going to copy your idea.

  • wow you rock man! portable to the max haha

  • a huevo pendejos yo soy ese

  • I have this piece-of-crap bass pedal that came with a $250 kit that's been sitting in my storage room, I've tried to turn it around, but I just can't do it. There's no screw that I can unscrew to take the bar out. In fact, I can't see it being held in place by anything but friction, and I still can't get it off... Help, anyone?

  • Thanks bud

  • You are the nicest man i have ever experienced,i love you

  • where did you get it and what kind of snare is that exactly? i like it

  • @Kirchenschlager It is a PDP 805 10x6 snare. I bought it at Guitar Center for $80 4 years ago and I'd swear that they still had the same drum 6 mo. ago but I did a little searching and to my surprise, they seem to be unavailable. Grestch, Sonor, ddrum and a few others make a similar drum with the same mounting bracket.

  • where and what kind of snare is that exactly? i like it

  • Very nice compact drum kit and innovative mods. But in my opinion, if you play it seated, it's not a cocktail kit. I do have a cocktail kit and I stand to play it. If you ain't standing, it ain't cocktail.

  • @msjohncox You are a cocktail kit purist.

  • @dagger800 HA! Guilty as charged. Aside from my cocktail kit snobbery, you have come up with a really clever way of making your set more compact. What kinds of venues do you use this in? I think it would be great for busking. One trip to move your whole set!

  • @msjohncox I've only done busking with hand drums. This was my main drum kit for a while and I played some regular small clubs with it. Type in "squeeze box, mad maggies" and the first video should be my band.

  • Too bad Slingerland discontinued the Expresso kit. The kit in this video is close to

the idea of the Expresso kit.

  • @CarlosMacMartin I looked it up and it is very similar.

  • Very ingenious use of bits and pieces. I was asked to play a cocktail kit recently and found out the next morning when I tried to get out of bed - ouch, my aching back!

  • Hahaha! "I cut a hole in it. Not sure why. But I can't put it back. " That's hilarious! Oh well. Nice kit.

  • I really like it! Thats a really cool design and sounds great! I bet you could get more boom out of your floor tom/bass drum with an aquarian superkick 1 on it.....I think the make them at 18 in.

  • can i have your old kit ha ha

  • Hello very interesting and easy to move...very helpfull !!! How do you tune the floor tom to achieve this sound?? does ther teddy bear help??

  • Good question, tuning the floor tom can be difficult to get different sounds from top and bottom. Take your time and use trial and error: adjust, play for a while and repeat until you get the best sound you can. I think a maple drum will sound better than my old mahogany Pearl.

  • @dagger800 Hi! Thank God i found this video! I've been working on a similar concept with a 16" Floor Tom. I stretched a cloth on the bottom to muffle it and make it sound more like a bass, but its sort of wrecked the top overtones and sustain. any suggestions?

    Cheers!

  • Awesome!

  • Great and Informative vid.... Thanks for the suggestions. Very inventive.

  • THAT IS SWEET

  • U da Man ! I love that kit. I'm into cocktail drums, and as a matter of fact got an extra floor tom I'm gonna convert in to a bass. Thanx 4 the idea.

  • I know this guy he plays in the awesome Stork Club band , check them out

  • Totally awesome!

  • Thats awesome man!

  • this is realy original and creative !

I was looking to buy a cocktailset, but now I'll start to experiment with the stuff I don't use in my drumroom.

  • THanks
