i'm a multitasking person ...like a lot of person i like listenin' to music while working but when i listen to this ...I stop working ...without even noticing. words can express this song and i believe that means true music...
This is another example of the haunting quality that this singer can bring to a song. I like the very spare instrumentation as the focus is on the voice. Also proves that Sting can produce wonderful, understated songs.
Yeah, it was originally written and performed by The Police off the album Zenyetta Mondatta. When the nuclear bombs were unleashed on Japan eye witnesses said that the shapes of peoples bodies were imprinted onto the walls and floors of the city due to the heat of the blast, which appeared to resemble Shadows in the Rain.
I like the cover of this song but as a bass player I think it lacks that haunting bass line from the original which gives the song its edge.
could anybody tell something more about this song? is this from her upcoming solo album or upcoming album with bugge wesseltoft? btw sidsel is my fav singer not from today. ;)
This song was on the album "Shadows in the rain" of german jazz musicians christof lauer (sax) and jens thomas (piano) who made a whole cd with police covers in the year 2001.
I woke up in my clothes again this morning
I dont know exactly where i am
I should heed my doctors warning
He does the best with me he can
He says I suffer from delusion
but I’m so confident I’m sane
this can be no optical illusion
so how do you explain
shadows in the rain... ♫
cool

An affecting cover, it brings to mind a risking James Blunt jamming with Jan Garbarek. I like the drama here.

How glorious a feeling it must be to have no vocal talent and a recording contract.
