  • One of the most beautiful songs I've heard in the last 20 years. It nearly brought me to tears the first time I heard it...

  • is that chris evans

  • You gotta love The Harp!

  • Fantastic song, album, artist... we need more from this band....

  • Is that a very tall mirror, or are you crouching down?

  • how about a few from the new album, loving it too by the way

  • coldplay and the stereophonics ! god I hope not, that would be very depressing x

  • there's not enough said about this band, i don,t think its out of the question to say that i think there on a par with the likes of such bands as the smiths sterophonics and coldplay (just my opinion)

  • Heard this in B&Q today and had to share it with everyone on facebook. fantastic tuneage.

  • get back to bristol x what fantastic musicans both lyricly and instramentaly

  • I want to cry =( this is one of the greatest bands i have EVER heared they deserve so much more recognition. Simon Aldred is one of the greatest unsung lyricists ever!

  • This song should be in every topten list of the greatest ballads of all times.

  • One of the great mysteries on the Millenium will be why this never got to number one.

It'll be pulled out one day and given the credit its deserved, I just hope were about to see it.

  • Hi guys! Saw you in Amsterdam yesterday evening as support act of Crowded House.

I'm an instant fan!!! Beautiful songs and you're all great musicians! Bought your cd today, really am looking forward to catch you live again soon somewhere in Europe. Keep up the great work!!

  • Really soakin up this band. Quality through and through. Love the album. Looking forward to see where they go in the future music wise.

    But well done lads.

  • Hi guys! So pleased you are getting rave reviews, and 4am is a superb track, can see you being a regular on radio (and Coronation Street!!) Looking forward to seeing you in Newcastle on the 22nd November.

  • First time i've ever heard the song. i think i may buy the album.

  • best song this year

  • This song and People for the People are by far the best ive heard in a very long time. Cuts a a swathe thru all the crap we get shoved down are throats. Good luck and

i will be buying the album not downloading it !

  • Love the song, this is the first time I've heard it, not sure about how it's like Flaming Lips tho (who I love even more). Lovin it tho, thanx for posting...

  • Consider me told. Love this song xx

  • Great tune. Truly..... Anyone else think it sounds a wee bit like The Flaming Lips?

  • Great great song..... So melodic. Makes me feel like fantastic. Superb singer. Thanks for putting this on Stu

  • mathematics...when i first heard it just hit me str8 away,class,love it,classic.more more,love the voice,music,so original

  • Returned home to find the new album on the mat!!! Made my day! You are truly something different, usually it takes a few plays to 'tune in' but straight away know it is going to be a favourite, will be in car tomorrow full blast!

  • I agree sanwyp. Put it on and just went with it and loved it. Didnt need to hear it for a few times to like it. Wanted to repeat them all straight away. This, 4am, Dead Mans Suit and False Alarm are just so addictive.

  • this vid was posted by the band themselves - check out the username. Great work, good to hear something truly original. Delighted to see that my home (Manchester) is still fertile ground for musical innovation. Any idea how to classify their style? Indie, folk or white guy soul/blues?

  • This track should be their single. It's better than

    "People Help The People".

  • Do not agree, People help the people sends a chill down my spine every time I hear it.

    Thats rare!

    Keep listening though

  • Forgot to say....Superb production on this track.

    Bravo to whoever.

  • Mark Radcliffe is a fairly safe & reliable barometer when it comes to new acts with good tunes IMHO. I think Cherry Ghost are/is a good case in point. Heard the Jonathan Ross performance (radio 2) today and was just as impressed as I was with the Mark Radcliffe session. I raise my glass to your justified longevity Mr Ghost. Cheers!

  • I have heard the album on a pre release..superb

  • I am addicted to this song, so beatiful and melancholic.

That video is awesome, can become the offical one?

  • Haunting.....love it!

  • I can't get this song outa my head, it's brilliant!!!!!

  • Waiting for you to up a video for "Dead Man's Suit", which I heard on the Best of British cd on Mojo. Easily the best track on it - and it's full of great music!

  • Love this song, reminds me of jim o'rourke singing women of the world,if the album lives up to this then magic...

  • nice chic

  • I love this song but as media teacher am feeling a bit wary. This has taken more time & effort than 'just a bit of a laugh' with a camera. Hope some marketing strategy isn't at work. Please tell me this isn't some sort of fan-base generating approach. When pop music comes along that seems as lovely & authentic as this does - coupled with publicity (non) strategy - well, I get a bit suspicious. Tell me I'm wrong. Tx

  • we filmed it one day during the session, then spent a couple of nights with it in imovie on a g3 mac

  • Well - it looks good! Well done - will check out your other vids. Tx

  • ops sorry - that 'fay1' was/is my daughter's log in name! TMC

  • Christ!! Firstly, does it sound like pop music. If it does then I need shooting. And I think the vid takes you so far away from the song that, that is what it intended to do. The song and the vid dont go... Means you have to think a bit more. And your a "teacher" so you say....

  • Hullo. 'Pop' is a massive category - means melodic & contemporary. (The likes of Waterman means that the term now seems to mean cheesy & disposable). Is difficult to label the band's music - as it is with Flaming Lips'. Image and music clashing is a cliche now - don't think in this case the vid is thought provoking tho, just funny & sweet. Some users take the name of a band - so the moniker is no guarantee of authenticity. Wouldn't lie about being a teacher! The money is s**t! Cheers, Tracy x

  • think coldplay mixed with marillion and u got the spawn here babez..xx

  • Actually, I can see that....x

  • good old radio 2 introduced me to kings of convenience as well as this guy..most grateful

  • also on vinyl?

  • Marvellous single - can't wait for the album. Will there be an acoustic version of this released. I heard them on Radcliffe and Maconie and I felt the stripped down version was even more touching.

You heard it here first- you're going to be massive!

  • a french guy did an acoustic cover to it. check out causm it's pretty good actually

  • Thanks for the kind words, album is out in July and will certainly be worth the wait, the singles are no better than the other 9 songs on it. Mr Ghost xx

  • Can I get some of them kisses?

  • Just checked and CD due to be released 9th July! Sure it will be worth the wait - new single also very good.

  • is it better than people help the people???...ive listened to it twice and its not yet but it could grow to be..

  • Yup - Mathematics is the song that lingers in the mind & the heart. Am going to see band in Liverpool this month on the strength of this song.

  • crap video, ace track, could listen all day.

  • When's the album out?

  • That's what i want to know aswell. Can't wait for it!

  • I first heard this song at 4.50 one morning on Radio 2 just before I went to go and present my own breakfast show on another station.

I was so stunned by the song it kept me in bed that little bit longer and once I was up it was in my head all day until I find out what it was.

Cherry Ghost. You are the welcome saviour of music.

  • Shameless plug alert for own breakfast show.........

  • More videos should be like this! Awesome song

  • For all my annoying nagging about this video (only because I love the song & want others to hear it) it seems that I have had to end a relationship of 16 years this evening and a little bit of solace comes from music. Tx

  • great song but please please a goo vid would help too

  • Great tune

  • great tune..when is the album released.

  • Jesus, who is your publicist? I've done more as a publicity worker at a low level than your staff have been able too - maybe as their hands have been tied.

Good luck. The song deserves better/Tx

  • Awesome song, hope this band brings some more good stuff out. I dont reckon its only an older audience that will be following this band, Iam 23...

  • Actually, strike that last comment. Watched this for second time & realised the video is lovely. Was only concerned that I wanted everyone to love Cherry Ghost - but realised that the natural audience is 30 plus - so would find video endearing anyway. (Am 40 btw)

  • C'mon - this is a fabulous song - and although I love the video, where's the serious video that'll convince everyone new to the band to buy the song? Good luck with this - it's beautiful.

  • theenforcer22 : don't jip Cascada, altight?

Only joking... if you see her, give her a slap from me, will ya?

    This song is fab.

  • wow makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end...Im addicted to this song xxx

  • a beautiful song. can't stop listening to it.

  • tune!!! is the vidoe filmed in little neston?

  • nice song but very nice video!!

  • Yeah, they said 'best' song, not 'shittiest'.

  • Stopped...me....dead....

  • Stopped me dead...

  • Nice.

  • Excellent!

  • What a great tune. It's really nice to hear tracks like this coming out from Cherry Ghost and the likes of Richard Hawley. Far removed from most of the cynical crap out there.

  • Best song i've heard in five years. Johnny Cash/Nick Lowe with Neil Finn hooks. Superb.

  • Heard this on Radio 2 yesterday driving home from work and it stuck in my mind. I had to track it down. What a track - excellent tune and great vocals. Classic already I don't often find them nowadays

  • wow!! this is first class

  • I've never left a comment before and probably won't do again, but this song is something special. Well done.

  • 'meet me on the corner.. by the fire escape..and I'll be waiting..'

sheer brilliance, I hope you keep this footage as the official video !!

  • Thanks to everyone for being so kind, R.E.M, Vic Chesnutt ( a huge influence actually), Postal Service, all very flattering references. Personally, I've never been able to get my head around this tune, very fond of it nonetheless,it brings back some great memories. Thanks again. Single released April 8th. Cherry Ghost xxx

  • Now and again a song comes along that you know will be a classic, Its been a long time since I've sat up and taken note of such a prospective hit.

It reminds me in parts of REM but if they have been as instrumental in their music like The Beatles have been to Oasis then we are yet to be privileged with a lot more great songs to come.

Mathematics is a masterpiece that will set you on the road to stardom.

Well done CherryGhost and enjoy the riches your talent will bring.

    Slick.
