I loved this toy it was one of my favs. Also had one that made flowers. I think the fear of getting burned made me more responsible. But if I did get burned, no biggy. Unlike today when some kids are such spoiled & entitled youngsters.
My brother and I had this. I was definitely one of the coolest, funnest toys ever made and an improvement over the original Thing Maker (which I never had).
There were major drawbacks though. For one thing, buying more Plastigoop over a brand new toy was basically out of the question in our minds and a lot of other kids I suspect as well. But worse than that was that while a freshly made Creepy Crawler pretty cool, within a week it would shrivel up into a little plastic knot!
ok im not racist and im not black but aint it kinda jacked up starting at 0:03 three white kids are torchering a black kid with there bugs. its obvious he was told to act scared while these kids gang up on him.
@LlamaSensei they have been renewed srry dont knw how to spell that word but idk wat its called but they were renewed like when i was 678 or even 9 i dont rember cuz im 11 now
My eyes aren't what they used to be...does that copyright date at the beginning say 1976 or 1978? This commercial is reminding me of something else, and knowing the year would help. Does anyone know what year Thingmaker II was?
Looks like 1978 to me. Interestingly, even if there were no copyright date, you can instantly tell it's from the late 70s because of the Farrah Fawcett hair on the blonde girl with the glasses.
Thanks, obliged to you. Now that you mention it, the hair-do clue makes perfect sense.
It rolls on...I'm sure decades from now people will be uploading todays commercials and suggesting "must be circa 2002 because her thyroid gland has a bolt through it."
I had the toymax version of this device, it was fun for me growing up. now i wonder if it was possible to make fishing lures(namely plastic worms) with these devices. just imagine the kind of cash you would save on buying plastic worms!
Thingmaker toys were the best! My sister had the "Fun Flowers" one from the late '60's. That had the metal molds, which got really hot and could give kids some nasty burns. The "Thingmaker II" versions, like this "Creepy Crawlers" set, were safer.
Was there any toy they marketed to us in the 90's that wasn't a reboot from the 60's and 70's?

You know they wouldn't of come out the molds so well. There's so much false advertising when it comes to toys

The little blonde girl with glasses has grown up and is now a director. If you do a search for Dimensions the movie there is a youtube channel.

I had one of these as a kid, it was cool. The 'crawlers' would eventually sort of try out and get stiff like tough vinyl.
It taught you patience to wait for the things to harden to get them out of the molds in one peace.
