You're absolutely right but wat your comment fails to acknowledge is that Libya IS (was) a major Oil exporter to European allies of ours (namely GER, ITALY, FRA, SPA) who helped our war effort in Iraq and Afghanistan. So you're right that we don't have as much of a strategic incentive in removing Ghaddafi as our European allies do but so was their the case when they assisted us in our wars in Iraq and Afgh. So at the end of the day we are there for oil

She also suggested a local multi-national peace-keeping force from Algeria/Moracco, along with the Red Cross/Crescent and doctors, to give time to pressure Quadaffi into leaving or elections to AVOID the alternative: a widespread bloodbath.

@Bigwave2003 Quadaffi will not leave peacefully under any circumstances. He will die fighting, and has made this abundantly clear with both his words as well as his actions. Remember, the Arab league all kept demanding we take action. And this idea that a much less advanced, non-NATO peacekeeping force will somehow pressure him more and make him change his mind goes beyond naivety, it is either flat out denial, anti-west bigotry, or just plain stupidity.

Are you saying the west engineered the uprisings, just so they could get Libyas oil? The problem with that idea is that we already had total access to the oil! In fact if we were only interested in oil, we would have supported Gaddafi to ensure he stayed in power. The reason we moved in is because of artillery strikes on cities, and threats to wipe out civilians.

You can criticise the West for dealing with Gaddafi in the first place, but I don't understand how any compassionate person can criticise the West for protecting civilians, and in the process risking their business interests.
