I love Tchaikovsky's dark undertones in his compositions. It draws on so much emotion. One of my favorite composers to paint to.

I still think that if you want to hear Tchaikovsky or any other Slavic composer, find an former Eastern Block orchestra to perform it. Tchaikovsky and other Slavic composers draw much from the folk tradition of their country of birth. A Slavic conductor would know this and use it to its fullest advantage.
