  • People, I FOUND IT! The original music video from '86 is now online! Quality isn't too good but if anyone can help to improve the rendering, I think you should get in touch with him. Go search now!!

  • The chorus should be sung this way: Count Money PAP, let the people suffer, Count more money PAP, we don't care...........

  • Sorry forgot to add some more words after gotten carried away listening to this song. Must also thank the great Hugh Harrison for creating the magic out of a perfect melody, lyrics and team(Jeremy M & co and all) to make this song possible.

  • One of my all time favourites, get goosebumps everytime listening to it especially if its sung by Clement Chow. His voice and distinctive Singaporean style can inject very strong emotions, passion and spirit into all Singaporeans that make them feel proud of their own country and countrymen.

    Life Student

  • even my uncle who doesnt speak english, can sing the chorus... this shows how great this song is

  • We will stand together as one united nation to withstand any obstacle in the future. I believe if we stand together, united as one,we will continue to go a long way for the years to come.

  • anyone can post the MTV the video!! PLEASSSE its damn freaking gOOD

  • Probably the only surviving copy of the original MV back in 1986, available for public viewing, is in the Lee Kong Chian Reference Library. Find "National Songs (7.7.88)", RSING English 782.421599 NAT. Someone needs to find a way to make it available on Youtube!! Oh, and yes, I shall not talk about GE here. :)

  • Let the PAP continue its strong rule over Singapore for the coming years.

  • very patriotic

  • Sigh, those were the days...

  • I remember listening and singing this song during NDP when I was growing up. Although I have become an American Citizen, I still have very fond memories of Singapore. I just visited in Sept 2010. What an amazing country and progress.

  • these songs are old...but are better than the current ones any time, any day!

I am only going to serve National Service only 2 and the half years later... but I have made up my mind to defend Singapore with my life. If Singapore gets attacked by any other country, I will show the enemies that nobody gets away with taking away Singapore's PRIDE

  • @bboydragon29125 Men like you make Singapore safe, strong, and free:)

  • Wah lau!!! I've been looking for this version for forever!!! I had it on cassette tape when i was a kid!!!

  • what happen to this year national day celebration

many years they been showing the clip or songs over the period before our Nation Birthday.

have they forgotten about this year

  • @hardracket Maybe they FINALLY realized that the newer NDP songs suck too much compared to these timeless classics.... and thus they are too embarrassed to show it to the YOG foreigners.

  • wow.. i had never heard this version of 'Count on me Singapore' till today. It can't be help i guess, i grew up listening to the newer version...

  • this video is so nice

  • NICE

  • This song really could make my working spirit sky high...now it become my habit listen to this song before going for work.....it will be wonderful and perfect if someone who has it could feature the original version of this video.....Thanks and God Bless You....a truly great effort master piece of NPD song by Clement Chow. So far no other NPD song able to come closer to this one.

  • @frankietee147 Well Said!!

  • @frankietee147 No bro, all the NDP songs from the 80s and early 90s are truly the best of the best. They will always be better than all the stupid modernised crap NDP songs we have nowadays.

  • @GingerOreo Yup. I just HATE Dick Lee's latest arrangement of the song! Just mediocre!

  • @frankietee147 As a student pilot in Australia last year, I listened to this on my phone daily. Really reminds me and the other S'poreans there as to which country we fly for and where we truly belong.

  • NICE!

  • Older versions of NDP Theme songs like this have very meaningful lyrics and can be evergreens. As for the newer ones since 2005 are only suitable for the younger gens which you just listen and later forgot you have ever heard of them before...very sad...

  • @stresshelp oh no, that's not true! Even the younger generations preferred the older songs. :D

  • does any body know where to find a cd that has all these singapore national day community songs?

  • A very good classic despite being a more than 2 decades old thumbs up for this one!!!

  • My best - Singapore, New York [Q33 NY] & The Gulf War - George Clooney's Three Kings.

  • though a malaysian, I juz love this song......have been listening umpteem times! btw, to my singapore friends, care to tell me who wrote is song....dick or clement??

  • this is worte by clement chow for your info.

  • @JohnNPG From Wikipedia, just FYI. =D

"Count on me Singapore, composed by Hugh Harrison, arranged by Jeremy Monteiro and performed by Clement Chow, became the 2nd 'official' National Day Song."

  • but in the first version, it said Dick Lee as songwriter...

  • old version sometimes better than the newer or revised version. thumbs up for this version =)

  • That's nice. Although the other clip of the original has better video and audio than this one.

  • YUP! so much nicer! (:

  • Ah, the old versions are so much better! Thanks for uploading this classic :-)

  • This is the definitive version of this song.

By the original composer and singer. To me, this version has more soul and spirit than all the other versions.

    Heads up for Clement Chow.

Perhaps the BEST Singapore song ever.

  • Whoa, this definitely brings back memories of the song.

I think this ver is the best lol

  • We the citizens of Singapore. Pledge ourselves as one united people.
