in the original, people wouldn't get these hints that a punch would be coming. For example, sandman says "dreamland" before doing that uppercut, but then in the original he just bounces around first.

Mr. Sandman has always been such a nimble boxer from the start. He wasn't that bright in the SNES Super Punch-Out!! but he's back to his nimble self in this one. His punches are fast and do a lot of damage but as long as you now how to get stars and let it all out, Mr. Sandman shouldn't be too hard to defeat.

Second off, anyone can defeat Sandman Title Defense, all you have to do is knock him down twice, than just time the winks right for the KO.
