You are using the word afflicted wrong. Afflicted or affected or convicted are all separate things. Being afflicted is being struck down with illness, or harms.

When I put all my barriers down and turned my life fully over to God and essentially gave up trying to do it on my own or understand on my own, God used the Holy Spirit then to empower me with light, truth and wisdom of what Jesus wanted for me.

Jesus says to not wish harm on anyone, no matter their state and to LOVE ones enemy. Do you guys even know what that all means.

You are using the word afflicted wrong. Afflicted or affected or convicted are all separate things. Being afflicted is being struck down with illness, or harms.
Being affected or convicted or inspired by Gods mercy to look at ones own weaknesses are different.
How we used Gods showing us our depth and problems is not an affliction, but a release out of our afllicted state.
God does not inflict harms on us, he convicts us to know how our sins harm us.

That passage never once has God afflicting david, but only david feeling that god afflicted him.
There are many ways to come to God, quietly with a whisper of the Holy Spirit or loud or with serving the poor or helping those dying.

My father hit us with a belt for misdemeanours (as that generation was taught). We were hit for wetting the bed, to spilling our milk.
We were 4 little girls and good girls, we got into normal kid activities. My parents did not tolerate any form of defiance or talking back, which at times was not talking back but defending ourselves.
My parents divorced, mom got us. My father remarried and raised two step children.

Then he started trying to discpline them the same way and his wife (an Registered Nurse) immediately put a stop to that.
Those children were raised without being hit, but being talked to or proper forms of discipline - age appropriate.
My mother did rarely spank any of us ever again. I remember only twice and we deserved it that time. Wooden spoon on the palm.
My stepfather never hit us. My mother widowed and remarried. That man was verbally abusive, those kids have issues today.

When I was older, my father apologized to us, (me personally and at different times) for hitting us and his harsh displine on 4 little girls. We were all very skinny tiny girls too, so that made him feel worse later.
Parents being taught that physical punishment is discpline is one of the GROSS errors of all.
Discpline - means to teach. There are many ways to teach (which takes knowledge and work) children other than hitting and they grow into fine formed adults.
