  • nice video. love the cranking :)

  • Reminds me of old Mitsubishi L300 and Hyundai H-100

  • The one we bought a few years back had been standing still for 15 years, we had a similar experiance to that.

Incredible how they just start up after all that time, and you just drive away! hehe

  • is the best truck if you want to change a part into the engine. XD

  • lol omg all the volvo inthusioust lololol "that's the perkins series" lolololololol "no ofence or anything"

  • D24 series engine, same as in Volvo 200, 700, 900 series :D . Early LT's had perkins engines, but the've been replaced with D24. I've got 3 Volvos with D24 - love that sound!!! ;)

  • Sounds just like the volvo 940 idling and starting from cold enoying ticking sound from these engines. My dads did this all the time

  • This is the same engine in a volvo 940 TD intercooler estate my dad had a 1992 volvo

  • what the.. ? Engine in the middle of cockpit ? :D It isn't hot ?

  • Yes, in the middle!

And no, it is not hot, forced air is blowing under it. You only feel an little increase of heat inside, when you have parked the card and switched off the engine.

  • But what if you accidently lean your hand on the engine.. don't you get burnt ? :D

  • Normally there is an isolated lid above the engine ;-)

  • Very same as a nissan vanette or a hyundai H100

  • not bad :-)

for 10 years standing still, this is god !!

    VW Engine ;)

  • sounds like my Volvo 244 D6

  • yes, because Volvo serie 200 has VW D24 engine (it is 2.4 litre 6 cilinder engine)

  • My friend -Johan-, in the movie was very happy with your comment :-D

  • Tell him my pleasure! ;)

  • What a cutie starting it. I gotta go change my thong now. ;)

  • Holy moly! I'm going to get me an LT van:D

  • lol, like that comment eh?

  • @rockergirl83 yea I did:)

  • EW!! :P

  • its an idea that i had in mind for the future. on youtube there is a t3 with a rover v8 in it but i bet the engine bays been altered

  • would that 2.4 diesel engine fit in a vw t3 transporter?

  • I don't think so. When you are creative everything is possible ;-) But I think this engine is to big for the small engine compartiment of the T3

  • Didnt these use perkins engines at one point?

a 3.0 perkins the 3256 or something like that?

  • What a brilliant engine!

    The golf engine is good.

    Turbo conversion would be good!

Would this engine fit an old passat bellhousing?

Can u do a video recording exhaust sound when revved? yes, I am a very sad individual! lol!

    What a perfect truck!!

u marked ur own comment as spam!

I couldnt find it for a while!

  • Yep..here in the UK the early diesels had Perkins motors. Must have been the same in Europe mainland too. The VW diesel engine that replaced it was too long..a 6 cylinder.

  • sound good though in 6 cylinder versions!

  • OK for a short time..but noisy on a long jourmey

  • Yes, same in rest of the world. In 1981 (I think) Perkins 2.7, 4 cilinder was replaced with VW 2.4 litre 6 cilinder engine.

  • Cute guy in the driver's seat.

  • I loved the sound on those things

  • 6 cilinder wat een geluid

  • Has it been stretched? It is longer than mine!

  • Yes, It is "double stretched" :-D

  • Mooi man!!! Ongeloofelijk hoe degelijk die lt's zijn!!!

  • the engines inside? what year is it?

  • Yes, it is!

    The year is 1979

  • This sounds just like the starter on my '91 Vanagon!

  • LT's go strong man.. their top vans

  • great that you got it going

  • had a 10yr rest i bet the diesel was 10yr old fuel as well

  • Yes, it was ;-)

  • Old VW LT never died. :)
