For clarification: the bible does not directly teach science, but that does not mean that science (accurate science) is not found in the bible. Often the bible uses scientific facts (geology, hydrology, astronomy and more) as analogies in order to teach a spiritual truth; moreover, these scientific facts were recorded long before the scientifc community recognized them as legitimate-such as; the Earth being spherical in nature, and the stars possessing a fixed position in our galaxy.

In my experience, most atheists have an axe to grind with a person, or series of unfortunate events in their life that led them to believe that God either doesnt care about them, or their parents (in most cases) forced them to believe their legalistic ways until finally one day, the poor guy says "forget it" and becomes atheist. Atheists are usually condescending and cold.

@abetterplayer That is why Christian's we are commissioned to go into the most dangerous, distant parts of the world to preach the Gospel off of full faith in Christ. Religion is a word that is diametrically opposed to the True faith. I was saved earlier in my life and protected in events that would otherwise be hopeless without Christ. So yes, I was quite young when those things happened and I thank the Lord for getting me through those tough times. Religion controls, Christ is freedom.

There are so many arguments for the existence of God. Agustine's Confessions, Aquinas's Axiological and Ontological, St. Anselm's Ontological, Plantinga's argument from Properly Basic Belief, Lewis's Moral argument, Aristotle's/Aquinas's argument from the first cause, and modern philosophers such as Moreland and Craig with the Kalam Cosmological argument. Justification for the existence of God is overwhelming.
Likewise, there has been only two arguments against the existence of God that have lasted. Hume's argument from Evil and Kant's argument from a non-conceivable basis. They are much more compelling than the silly scientific arguments that Dawkins and Hawking use (which don't explain the origin of existence) and the historical evidence from Harris, Dennett, and Hitchens. None of which actually prove the non-existence of God, but at the very best the atrocities of the church.
What you find to be offensive is irrelevant. Stick with the arguments.
You mention religion (specifically, the church) oppressing progress in science; namely, the belief that the earth was flat by tradition. Galileo was religious himself and although he was rejected by the church for a while, he retained his religion.
If people were naturally good, then they would create naturally good institutions. The institution of the Church is not the problem, it is the individuals.

In my experience, most atheists have an axe to grind with a person, or series of unfortunate events in their life that led them to believe that God either doesnt care about them, or their parents (in most cases) forced them to believe their legalistic ways until finally one day, the poor guy says "forget it" and becomes atheist. Atheists are usually condescending and cold.

Religion is a word that is diametrically opposed to the True faith. I was saved earlier in my life and protected in events that would otherwise be hopeless without Christ. Dawkins stresses that it cannot be scientifically proven that there is no God, as it cannot be proven that there is no "spaghetti monster" or fairies. Humans are not smart enough to have any absolute understanding of large concepts, though most want to think they know all, and thus religion still exists.

There are so many arguments for the existence of God. Agustine's Confessions, Aquinas's Axiological and Ontological, St. Anselm's Ontological, Plantinga's argument from Properly Basic Belief, Lewis's Moral argument, Aristotle's/Aquinas's argument from the first cause, and modern philosophers such as Moreland and Craig with the Kalam Cosmological argument. Justification for the existence of God is overwhelming.

Likewise, there has been only two arguments against the existence of God that have lasted. Hume's argument from Evil and Kant's argument from a non-conceivable basis. They are much more compelling than the silly scientific arguments that Dawkins and Hawking use (which don't explain the origin of existence) and the historical evidence from Harris, Dennett, and Hitchens. None of which actually prove the non-existence of God, but at the very best the atrocities of the church.

What you find to be offensive is irrelevant. Stick with the arguments.
You mention religion (specifically, the church) oppressing progress in science; namely, the belief that the earth was flat by tradition. Galileo was religious himself and although he was rejected by the church for a while, he retained his religion.
If people were naturally good, then they would create naturally good institutions. The institution of the Church is not the problem, it is the individuals.

@danielkemp92 galileo was not religious he spent his life trying to prove modern science over religion, and his theories about the cosmos got him into trouble with the church and he was put under house arrest after they made him agree to stop working on science, see this is what i mean by religious oppression on science, it has been for years, there are ppl like you that try to say darwin had a change of heart on his death bed, get over yourself and your primitive beliefs

@danielkemp92 yes, im intolerant of ppl who base their beliefs on no evidence other than word of mouth passed down the generations from PPL who didnt know the earth was round and didnt know about microorganisms or laws of nature or any of the facts they rape with their lies.. many great scientists have had to be pariahs to keep studying the truth and in the 21st century where we found things like the missing link, the human genome and carbon dating, its offensive that ppl are still religious
