  • Dear Notjustanothertroll: I think the 'Tet' offensive of 1968 might have been an alarm bell for Air Force Security Police. Some bases were overrun by the Gooks and the SPs were under-trained as I learned from my first night in Nam. That first-night pairing, with another regular SP, put me on-guard to be ready to act according to MY judgement because that troop was ill-prepared for this environment. I knew I did the right thing by volunteering for this specially-trained unit.

  • I never knew this propaganda film existed but, find it interesting. I was part of the 822nd.

  • So Safeside is the grandfather program of what we now as ABGD school? That training looks to me to be a bit more involved, a bit more hoorah than the program taught to SP's at fort dix during the fall of 1993. But then again I guess they were going to need it a little more than the SP's at your run of the mill SAC base stateside. Grand forks or KI Sawyer were in a little less danger.
