  • i miss old foot ball

  • wtf happen to his knee

  • He hit him harder than a 16-year-old prostitute.

  • Atleast he called over for some help

  • Just saw on TV that Joe is using a medication that helps with urine flow...way to go Joe!!

  • Daaaaaaaaammmmmmmnnnnnnn! that leg snapped like a wishbone, Jesus...

  • Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy... I remember that game, I was just a kid. Players come back from injuries like that now Theisman was a dick anyways. His last name used to be pronounced differently, but he changed it in college to rhyme with Heisman. Then he didn't win the trophy and got all butt hurt. Fuck him...

  • that wouldn't have happened if he had a good blind side.

  • dude im pregnant and watched that and it just about made me sick watching it

  • This is so messed up I play football I don't what that to happen to me

  • Poor quality...on so many levels--like instant re-play of a car crash, just had to see it again 'cause it's out here. CarlFM

  • never played another down of football again. LETS GO LT!

  • This ended his career

  • my leg injury was worse...

  • i like how all the giants players are like "oh crap! someone come help! hurry up!" and the redskins players are like "whatever."

  • You won't see another LT

  • at 0:07 you can hear a very faint snap.

  • Watched this live on TV that night. Unforgettable NFL moment

  • You know, it's funny...I can watch two guys beat the hell out of each other for hours through a UFC pay per view and not be effected at all, but watching Theismann's leg break makes me want to puke...

He said he felt nothing, his leg went numb immediately from the endorphin rush, and all I can say is...thank God for that. I can't even imagine the level of pain he'd have been feeling if he hadn't.

    Wow...just wow.

  • Someone show this to Goodell since he thinks going low is better than chest hits. Idiot.

  • "You see the right knee.. the right foot...' 'its an ankle'

  • ughh..oh my...his thigh hit his leg that hard...

  • Actually you can hear BOTH bones snap.

    Nasty.

  • If that didnt happen, 3 super bowls

  • dumb asses he broke his neck

  • @23mikevick Ur the dumb ass he broke his leg dome ass

  • damn asses he broke his neck

  • 0:51 omfg

  • No, the Blind Side didn't bring me here. That nasty leg break of that guy from the Colts about 10 minutes ago did. His was the second worst of all time after Theismann. Tragic.

  • I broke my forearm right in the middle when I was 16. The bone didn't break the skin, but it was bent right in the middle and you could tell it was broken just looking at it.

You'd think the pain would be intense right away, but there was really no pain right away. It was several minutes later when the pain really starts to hit.

  • @DaringDirk100 i read this a few times, and not to be a dick , but what the fuck does this have to do with this video in any way shape or form? nobody cares about your fucking arm or how it broke or how it felt. we care about joe's leg breaking. thats it.

  • damn you can hear the bone crack at 0:07

  • @RaiderJevin

Lived in DC during this time, friends at the game told me you could hear the bone snap clear up in the stands.

    Sounds like bs, right?

Well, no. You can hear it clearly at 0:07, delayed a bit by the time it takes to travel to the microphones.

This instantly ended Joe's on-field career and may have cost the 'Skins one or two other titles in the mid-80's.

  • And just so it hurt again, they showed it to you in slow motion!

Guys watching it are like, "Don't show that again..." X(

And even those Indian yoga classes are going like "Do NOT try dis at home!"

  • Same thiing happened to me my senior year of football

  • Thumbs up if you knew about this BEFORE The Blind Side.

  • @PageantGymnast oooo your cool

  • Wrong play against this defence

  • What was scary was that Washington still won that game... HTTR!

  • you now its scary when a guy like LT is concerned for a guy he just sacked

  • Too bad the giants dont show this kind of sportsmanship nowadays -.-

  • OHHHHH GOD YOU CAN HEAR THE BONE CRACK!!

  • @Xxfede54xX

    Yes, indeed. 0:07.

Friends at that game said you could hear it break from up in the stands.

  • and Taylor was coked out of his mind

  • OHHHH shit his leg shuldnt be like that

  • WOO HOO GO QUENTIN SANDS..JUST LIKE IN THE GAME

  • that leg is now shorter

  • J.T. breaks his leg...FOREVER

  • damn that was......damn,that was too painful to see, poor joe.

  • Go Dallas!

  • Like if Foley is Good brought you here.

  • Did they at least win the game!!!!

  • Joe Theisman should get on his knees every morning and thank God that game wasn't played on astroturf.

  • @danning1 I don't get it. What difference would astroturf have made?

  • My God, What Have I Done?

  • that was so painful to watch

  • SOMEBODY HELP DAT NIGGA!!

  • HOLY SHI-

  • I remember that game. It was the weekend after my son was born

  • but doe, earlier in the game this nigga broke his fuckin leg....

  • holy fuckin fuck

  • That turns my stomach every time I watch it; good God.

  • @jk08PHS

    "every time I watch it"

You mean you watched this more than once?

  • He really violated Theismann.

  • That hit was the last we ever saw of Theismann play football and was a great loss to the sport...

  • You wanna know the crazy part. Joe didn't feel ANY pain when his leg was broke. He said this incident made him appreciate what the body can do. That tells you this guy had balls, cause most players nowadays would be shitting their pants.

  • Dang I feel real sorry for the man. Something like that ending his career i mean gosh!!!!

  • I can't unsee that.

    I am forever scarred.

  • BLIND SIDE BROUGHT ME HERE!

  • That's crazy

  • Thumbs up if crack brought you here.

  • OUCH!!!

  • thats why i like lt hes not a dick about it and calls for help

  • I watched this game, and I saw Lawrence Taylor jump screaming for help.

    That's sportsmanship.

  • @bunnyjazz he was on the sidelines looking freaked out. you know it's bad when both sets of trainers come out.

  • @bunnyjazz It's a nice moment because no one helped Brady when he tore his ACL. Those things are sportmanship. God Bless America. No offense other religions.

  • Comment removed

  • @bunnyjazz no hes scared, he is clusterphobic(s/p). afraid of close corners also under a pile of people specially with someone with a broken knee screaming

  • @bunnyjazz Amen to that! I'm a Cowboys fan, but I had the greatest respect for all the NFC East teams in those days, it was a hell of a division and so highly competitive in that era. I had huge respect for Joe Gibbs and the Skins.

When I watched this game back in 1985, I was sickened and felt horrible for Theismann and for the Redskins. And you're right, it showed some pretty good sportsmanship and class for Taylor to react the way he did to what happened. He knew Theissman was hurt BAD.

  • Having watched this live (and still cringe) and a 'Skins fan from the Over the Hill Gang days, I always respected LT for his reaction. He was always a worthy competitor and actually a good example of class in a sport that, these days, has far too few class acts.

  • I can't stand Joe Theismann but no one deserves that. OUCH!

  • LT was a monster and he probably could have broken a leg every game if he wanted.

I am a hugh Redskin fan and LT was the best defense (alone) that I ever saw us face.

Jay Schroeder was scared shitless of Taylor. He got so rattled against the Giants (Taylor) that he just hid and ran for cover. I thought Butkus was the best LB that I ever saw until LT came into the league.

Ray Lewis, Urlacher, name anybody with the exception of Butkus all are pretenders compared to Lawrence Taylor.

  • You know LT is standing there thinking "Shit shit shit! Get up, Joe! Get up!"

  • you know it sucks when MARROW is on the field

  • Just met Harry Carson & decided to check out this video cuz he was talking about it... he said accedents like that are things that change how you look at the game.

  • We lost because "we" didn't have a leg to stand on!

  • OOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

  • Walk it off Joe:)

  • No Joe, that is NOT what I meant by break a leg

  • Most painful moment to watch in NFL history. i just lost my appetite.

  • @BottomOfThaBay I second that....Damn.

  • @BottomOfThaBay A close second was Krumrie's broken leg wobbling through the air in the Bengal Super Bowl. It's on here - search tim krumrie.

  • how did the Giants manage to lose that game?!

  • @gmalcolms The Redskins wanted revenge against the Giants after this injury. They were more motivated after this to beat the Giants.

  • how did the Giants lose that game?!

  • o.O Is it just me, or did I HEAR it in the first clip?

  • I don't think legs are suposed to bend like that

  • @smashbrosfan25 that's no bend

  • Check out youtube/#3 Dayvion Bailey he is the BEST 7yr old Runningback/QB ever!!! A MUST SEE!!!

  • fuck that would hurt

  • @TheVanhalen78 The funny thing is, according to Wikipedia, is that Joe didn't feel pain after this (at least not right away) because his endorphins kicked in & numbed his leg. But I'll bet you anything he felt that the next day.

  • AAAAA!!!!!!!!!

  • Thumbs up if The Blind Side brought you here

  • @vante7792 i was watching the game.

  • @vante7792 Thumbs up if you knew of the sack before The Blind Side

  • @vante7792 I haven't seen that movie? Why, did they use this as a lesson?

  • @salamander337 No the book is where I learned it. There is like 90 pages on it, and how it changed the way of the game, and using left tackles to protect the quarterback's blind side. Michael Oher was a left tackle. That's why it is called The Blind Side.

  • i think it wasnt any1s fault because joe theisman said it was a freak accident

  • "My God, what have I done?!?!?"

Like this if TvTropes got you here.

  • milk makes strong bones

  • awesome mustache at 0:27

  • Probably one of the most feared defenders. Arguably the most.

    Either way, a true champion!

  • H.O.P!!! :O

  • @SteelPitt6Burgh just because they have 2 supberbowls they suck wow ur a dumbass, supberbowls doesnt mean they suck

  • At least he didn't rape him...

  • @SteelPitt6Burgh Lawrence Taylor has 2 superbowls too. And he didn't get 100 mystery penalties and bullshit touchdowns like the Steelers did against the Seahawks. Lawrence Taylor would destroy Big Rapist What's your point? And you mean those GIRLS. And it's not rape if someone wants you to fuck them dumbass racist.

  • This is in the blind side which I love

  • That is the worse hit I have ever seen!!! That defense was one of the best of all time baby! From a big blue fan!

  • @SteelPitt6Burgh Hey dumbass don't make excuses for your stupid-ass QB that cant keep his pants on around 20 year old women. No woman wants to be raped...because it WOULDN'T be RAPE if she wanted it dumbass!!

  • @SteelPitt6Burgh

  • OH FUCK. FUCK. Legs are NOT supposed to bend like that! I mean, DAMN.

  • @90geekgirl06 Of course they don't bend like that. That's why it broke

  • @90geekgirl06 ikr bro

    omg so fking scary!!!!

  • @90geekgirl06 The truly freaky thing is. I have a friend who's a doctor and she was telling me that if he had received that injury today, he'd be back on the field 8-14 months later.

  • @rrtodd95 well, tim krumrie had a similiar injury in the superbowl a couple of years later. he came back.

  • @90geekgirl06 smd

  • @90geekgirl06 OH FUCK OH FUCK STFU OH FUCK

  • @90geekgirl06 that's why it didn't bend, but break. cmon.

  • @TheBestCommenterEVER I think I got drunk that night I commented. How the flying fuck did that end up as a top comment???

  • @90geekgirl06 well i guess that says a thing or two about everyone else who watches these videos.

  • @SteelPitt6Burgh lol i bet you want big ben to rape you

  • @SteelPitt6Burgh

    bandwagon shitsberg rapistberger fan

  • @SteelPitt6Burgh The Giants have won 3 Super Bowls, you dumb hick.

  • Interesting how it's mostly Redskins players calling for the medical staff!

  • @davd1986 you mean Giants? And yeah, they seemed more than genuinely concerned about Theisman.

  • @davd1986 what are you talking about taylor was the first one to hop up and call for them.

  • @bbbuuurrrnnn I meant Giants. My bad.

  • One thing people don't remember much is the Redskins were losing this game pretty bad, and the backup was Jay Schroeder and he turned it around, and had a great career as a starter.

  • lawrence taylor is the best football player ever.

  • @boseffis You are joking right? He was good, not best ever...

  • @BrentShiver Not the best player ever, but definitely one of the best defensive players of all time.

  • Joe Theismann never played a down of football again

  • @SteelPitt6Burgh 3...idiot

  • @steelpitttsburgh you a fuckin cracker I will whip your ass anytime no offense to the other white people

  • @jamaqwerty1 you couldn't whp anyone! meet me at 51st an whittier you ng.

  • you can here the bone snap!

  • @brazil1kaka Yeah, I definitely agree. It just makes your heart feel good, right? Even if you have to shudder watching the replays of his leg bending in three different directions.

  • I like how he got up and called help for him that's some good sportsmanship

  • was like a black superman in sloww mo

  • Everyone who was watching that game knew it was bad when the biggest badass defender in the NFL called for the med team... Great job, Lawrence, you played with a passion but knew when you had to help. Wtg.

  • the REAL LT (laurence) was a tank. he said he was so upset he hurt Theismann he wouldnt watch the tapes of the game

  • To this day...uh...wow. Ouch...and damn.

  • LT said that this play ended his career

  • that was fuckin awesome

  • @Bmikhail39 how was that awsome? that was a career ending injury

  • @93Dwightfreeney It's awesome because it happened to a Redskin. Hopefully Demarcus Ware will do the same or worse to Donovan McNabb.

  • @thelog1 Karma

  • @shiron236 Karma is bullshit.

  • @thelog1 oh in that case ur right and hopefully dwight freeney does that to tom brady

  • @93Dwightfreeney I agree. He's the reason you can't go low on a QB anymore, because the NFL realized that he's a pussy and needs to be protected.

  • @thelog1 finnally someone who understands

  • @thelog1 Cowboys fans continue to show how classy they are. Good job.

  • @vivalasux Thank you

  • I have to say, although this is horrible, what happened, at least LT reacted as quickly as he could to get the medical people out onto the field.
