  • Superb...such raw talent and heavenly grace!

  • I can envision Venice Italy or Buenos Aires right about now...

  • FLAWLESS....fuckin flawless....makes me wonder why i even chose the guitar as an outlet when im so far from discipline, skill, and creativity. oh yeah.....RAGE!

  • @guitar16 You can't make anything of beauty while angry. In fact, I'm not sure there is even an excuse to get angry, ever, when music like this is in our world.

  • @Flaminglog perhaps when you've gone thru many of lifes struggles i can see that. but when i picked up the guitar at 14 it was all rage and blowing that steam out with the guitar, playing fast and angrily. it was still a strong passionate emotion that can argueably be felt like that of Xuefei in peace and tranquility. its just the opposite side of the same coin my friend. =) cheers to beautiful music like this!

  • @guitar16 cheers, my friend. :)

  • great music classic

    @freemovie4 eblogz.net

  • Her smile at the end showed the little and shy girl inside. Her techiques were superb. With her hair falling down on her forehead and the smoothing tremolo of the so beautiful Sueño en la Floresta piece, the combo created such a wonderful experience! I love her playing!

  • This is extraordinarily beautiful

  • sounds like harp!!!

  • The tremolo is full of dynamics and evenly played.

  • I love the way she smiles at the end. I've seen her do it in several of her videos :D

  • man, shes really good, i would like to see her play without looking at the guitar at all though, heh, next level of expertise i guess.

  • @mikaeltheviking why would you like to see that? She uses her fingers to play... not looking at the guitar does not make someone a better player....

  • @fireatwill1994 nja, does kinda

  • Love the sound of this guitar. The sustain of the instrument really stands out where she plays those sliding notes around 0:33 - sounds almost like something from a Pat Metheny track! Masterful playing.

  • Fuck me! No seriously you fuck me?

  • Rehearsals tend be better than concerts, since there is no risk.

  • I always thought that JW's performance on the Seville Concert was mechanical.

Now I know, for sure, that it was.

    This is infinitely better.

    Superb lady.

  • BRAVA

  • Barrios' works are like Chopin's for guitar - very difficult , but full of emotion and passion - kind of sweet sorrow - an awesome playing and interpretation one

  • having heard some people complain that her playing is mechanical this should put to rest any credibility to that argument. her expressiveness and tremolo were sublime.

  • in love!

  • lovely beautiful !

  • La versión de Williams es magnífica, pero esta interpretación de Xuefei Yang me parece perfecta y de gran sensibilidad

  • I would say she ist the best guitarist I have ever seen.. She has something very different in her guitar

  • tremolo is rly good

  • After I saw this video 2 months ago I was inspired. So I decided to take a musical journey and learn this song. I just finished it today and I have to say it feels like one of the biggest accomplishments of my life.... This song has taught me that anything is possible with proper dedication.

  • Congrats! I love that feeling. :] So happy for you. It must feel awesome.

  • Gran técnica y musicalidad. ¡Brava!

  • Whoever thinks this great guitarist's play is robotic should be pitied. It just shows he or she has not (or cannot) listen to music.

This piece is so full of life. Technique at the service of music. This is what it is. Just enjoy the music.

  • Music from Heaven. Thanks for making available. I saw her in Monterrey and she

    had a standing , long...ovation.

  • Most exhilarating performance. She puts so very much feeling into her music. I actually derive feeling from her playing.

You are exceptionally talented Xue Fei

  • I love it , it's very touching, you are very good, never stop.

  • She plays this (technically) a lot better than most performers that I've seen on youtube. But it lacks a bit of dynamics. It is NOT robotic, unlike the previous poster has said.

  • This is so beautiful.

  • this is music very good,I´m portuguese and loves very much xuefei yang she is the best

  • one of the best versions of this beautiful piece, Yang is an awesome artist!

  • Robot? Hmmm....I believe consistency is more touching.

  • unbelievable...this could be my favourite version

  • Bravo!

  • likea a robot? have you ears?

  • She and Antigoni Goni...

  • Beautiful & Emotional piece played by a Great & Emotional Player!!!

  • Fill with emotion and passion, total music, total guitar playing.

  • Perfeita. Sou teu fã. Só lamento não ter conseguido ainda adquirir um CD com suas belíssimas interpretações.

    Grande beijo

  • what a perfect tremolo! interpretation! guitar! everything is great!

  • Xuefei expresses this piece with great feelings. Bravo!

  • Xuefei's tremolo is simply unmatched. I find John Williams' tremolo much less linear in comparison. The melody feels disrupted whenever John uses his p finger, but not so when Xuefei plays.

  • i love that tremolo

    its so smooth and clear

  • The tongue at the final: cool!!!

  • so beautiful.

    the tremolo is so tight

she also has the feeling in music.

    cool

  • hahahhaha

  • me ha producido una enorme alegrìa conocer a esta magnifica guitarrista, fabulosa..

  • I think the difference between you and John Williams is that you played with heart. I like your version.

  • That was really nice. Very well done.

  • why does everyone think they need a smallman guitar when there are so many others that are better!

  • Fantastico.... demais...

  • Great playing of this piece, but having seen her live at the wigmore hall a few years ago, I really don't like the tone of Smallmans.

Williams did indeed buy a Bernabé Imperial, but I've no idea why, or if he plans to use that in preference to his Smallmans at any point. If anyone does know, I'd be most interested to find out.

  • i need some advice....why did she tune her guitar when she played? is that a technique?

  • I think she just became aware that those strings were a little out and needed some deft adjustment.

  • I can sense that you are beneath the piss.

Why not you just show your piece of video instead of shitting around.

  • Just great

  • wow

  • Amazing!..She's got 'the spirit'

  • Thanks Craigalake!

  • Who is the luthier of this guitar?

  • Greg Smallman

  • Congratulations!!! Has someone got the score???

  • Ohhh I love all the Chinese chicks playing beautiful guitar masterpieces....

  • *sigh*

She is just so incredibly gorgeous. Her playing and her beauty amakes my heart melt...

  • SHe sooo sexy!!!! mmm!

  • Maybe its the quality of the sound, but that has got to be the best tremolo skillz I have ever heard.

  • Amazing. Her tremolo is so good.

  • This guitar, like the piece (and the woman) are works of perfection in art. It's wrong to compare one with another, like saying a Van Gogh is "better" than a Constable, or vice versa. Sure, there are other guitars, pieces (and women) but each is just to be appreciated with appropriate guitar. Any guitar that "blew away" this instrument would need a health warning to listen to.

  • To bad such an amazing guitar playing has attracted such juvenile comments.

  • An interesting contrast with her performance from 2000.This did ripen and it is unquestionably objectively great...from the tone to the phrasing or spiritual affect.

To not like this would be to have a shovel up the posterior.

  • Yes, it is and I think that's what he means.

  • Come on! That's a 2001 Greg Smallman guitar mate! Did u know how hard and how long the waiting list is to get this guitar? Even John Williams uses it for years until his Paulino Bernabe Royal guitar is made!!!

  • Yes, I know exactly what the guitar is and waiting lists don't make a guitar great. Sure, Smallmans are loud and are easy to make a decent sound on even with crap nails but they lack clarity and punch because of the slow response of the soundboard. Simon Marty guitars (other significant Australian guitar) blow them away both in terms of volume and clarity whilst still sounding like a guitar with all the tonal colours you'd get from a traditional style. (With a 2.5 year waiting list as well).

  • By the way is Williams really changing to Bernabe? Where did you hear that?

  • Is it true? Williams changed his guitar?

  • Not sure but he definitely bought a Bernabe. However this year (or late last year) when he came to Perth, Australia, Greg Smallman came to the concert with 5 guitars for Williams to try so I'm not sure what he is doing.

  • that right hand is a beast! awesome performance

  • BABE, WHAT A F*CKING BABE!

  • Wow...

  • I was right there at this concert! :) I liked this piece along with Fandangos y Boleros the best. And I think it's about time Xuefei took Asturias and Koyunbaba out of her concert program. She is obviously fed up of playing them over and over again for years.

  • really! was there a microphone in front of the guitar or she managed to play without it.

    Thanks!

  • I keep returning to this, and I think it's the best rendition on youtube. The biggest challenge in this piece is fluent phrasing, not only in the tremolo parts, and she does it exceptionally well.

  • amaizing....i never knew a woman can play guitar like this.....wow

  • Wow!

    A) it was perfect

    B) It was perfect

    C) She's precious!

    Bravo!:):):)

  • Listen to how much her playing and technique has improved from her video playing the same song in 2000! I saw her last year, and she blew my mind in a way no other classical guitarist I've seen has been able to do. I do prefer the version of this song recorded live in San Francisco, though. It's on youtube as well.

  • Extremely well played. Only thing I don't like is the suddenly aggressive mood at the end of the first tremolo part. Strange she's not the only one who does that!

  • are you talking a little after the 3 minute mark? That's written in the song.
