I am unfortunate enough to experience sleep paralysis on a regular basis (at least once a week). If you have never experienced sleep paralysis, count your lucky stars, because it is utterly terrifying (no matter how many times you experience it) and it assaults you in the hours of your life which are meant to be the most peaceful... sleep; And while I am aware that this song is not about sleep paralysis... I can imagine it being the soundtrack to my vivid nightmares. It just fits so well.
The use of this phone call seems like a cheap trick to make a mediocre song rememberable, the person in the phone call geniunely suffered and the songwriter just used this while whining about some stalker she had.
I listen to Throbbing Gristle, Xiu Xiu, Scott Walker and a ton of other shocking artists, but this is the first time I've ever been offended by a song
Dude, this song isn't about some girl complaining about some nerd who won't go away.
This song is about a girl who wakes up in the middle of the night to the sound of a man sneaking through her house in the dead of night, only to find herself completely at his mercy as she's pinned down by the psycho while he tells her again and again that he loves her.
Couple that with that phone call playing, you got some serious Nightmare Fuel goin' on here, man!
"Much attention was given to the track "...A Psychopath," which contains audio taken from an actual 911 emergency phone call placed by a woman who was being terrorized by an intruder in her home."
The fact that this phone call was real makes it even more creepy. I think the woman who called 911 was actually killed. If not, you're more than welcome to tell me she survived.
truly chilling and terrifying... when the woman screams "Why are you here?!?!!? WHY??!" - wow...goosebumps. Does anyone know what happened to this poor woman? Does anyone know who she is/was? this is heart-breaking to listen to..."this baseball bat...this thing of mace..." - horrifying.
Talk to an actual Psychopath here: Whitewolf . Maxforum . Org
He's nice, he has morals, it's free to talk, start a topic and he'll teach you about how psychopaths speak and how to detect them! He isn't evil, he's got morals, he believed in God, talk to him, he won't bite! GO GO GO! :D
@33Entertainment Psychopaths do have moral systems, they just don't feel guilt about breaking them. They know right from wrong, but just don't care. What's the fascination? Why chat to someone just because they are psychopathic? Although it's nice that you're trying to reduce the stigma.
@SodaJoker -- Not a dumb question! Yeah, that's one of the little instrumental interludes between songs on that album. It's a snippet from an Italian folk tune called "Frascilita".
A baseball bat, a baseball bat beside my bed I'll wait around and wait around, and wait I hear a noise, I hear a noise, well I hear something I am alone, you win again, I'm paralyzed I drift away,I'll drift away,am I asleep yet I hear a scream,I see me scream, is it from memory Am I awake,am I alone, when it is sunrise A baseball bat, a thing of mace That thing of mace, the thing of mace, where did I leave it A psychopath, he says he loves me And I'm alone, and I am cold and paralyzed, I can't move
i kinda like that the song and the call clash. i just focus on her voice and the rest fades.....so beautiful and haunting....I AM ALONE...IM PARALYZED....HE'S AT THE DOOR!!... :).
Honestly? I got a bit of a chill when it started, but then I kinda just got annoyed by the fact that the emergency call and the song were clashing with each other. I hate that. =/
I can understand that you'd like to get over the effect this track has had on you. But if it's that disturbing, why not stay away from it, for a while?
That's probably what you'd hear from a therapist, by the way...
Didn't bother me
