I had an r8 v10 and it was fantastic but i sold it with my business last year. I now have a TT as my daily drive and have to say although its a lovely motor it isn't even comparable to the r8.
watch the recap from the multiple camera angles and you'll clearly see that the guy in r8 is taking the curves A LOT wider than the guy in the tt! shame...
If you lived out in the country like i do and you had just bought a brand new R8 V10 and then came on Youtube and saw a "lesser" audi that is half the price keep up with your super car like that i should imagine you'd be a little miffed but at the same time it isn't just the R8. You put that TT up against any of your main super cars of roughly the same value as the R8 then it would still keep up like that. You've got to remember the R8 V10 is one of the quickest cars on the Road.
i liked the tt rs..but when the r8 came out,i dont like it a lot now. Because i feel like i look like a guy who wants R8 but he dont have the money to take it,so he buy TT. The same thing with the Audi Q7,Q5,Q3...Q5 looks nice but there is Q7...and Q3 no way!...but all of them looks very nice!
The reason the TTRS was able to keep up with the R8 in the corners is obvious at 2:04 you can see the TTRS has a tire hooked on the edge of the pavement and the R8 is a good car and a half's width from the corner. These guys are a load of crap. Just like that Civic vs R8 comparison.

I usually hate TT's, but this one looks like a masterpiece. My only concern with Audi's here in the USA is their price. They are in the price range of other great cars if not more expensive. This TT RS looks great though.
Regular Audi TT: 30.000 £ Audi R8: 110.000 £. Audi TT: affordable (even if pretty expensive) Audi R8: you've got to be rich. Wich one does Audi think will we choose? Anyway I like the way Audi thinks. They made a sports car affordable, but in the same time it remains a status symbol (how many of you do have an Audi TT?). Keep it this way!
HP and torque line help in straight line , lightweight helps in corners . R8 might be worse value / money , but has natural asp heart , but with a VGT could keep up with a Veyron
1) Tim couldn't push the R8 to the limit because if he lost control and trashed the car i think it would look bad..To everyone..
2) You could place a Punto GT against an Ferrari Enzzo in such tight corners and they still would be very very close...Remember that the 2nd car always has the advantage since the driver doesn't need to see the corner/road ahead of him, he just needs to see what the front driver is doing and that's that.

The R8 V10 does not got a Lambo engine. The engine is a co-production af Audi and Lambo. The latest Gallardo LP560-4 for example got the FSI technology from Audi.
o i wish there are more top gear vids. the vid was horrible the comparison was pointless. the 4.2 r8 is the closer match and therefore will give a more interesting comparison. they played the audi tt's interior audio with the presenter's lame voice over the action shots while they were racing. and they didnt have a proper drag race cuz they dont have an awesome test track. i like cars thats why i keep watching videos and i hate it when i only get a 3 min vid when top gear can present a 9 min one

@Impactintact101 Doesn't matter. The TT can't handle the power it's got as he found out with a load of understeer. Add more power and the chassis set up has to be more stable for the higher available speeds so you get even more understeer. It's a crap chassis and always has been from the very first model.
Nice review- and very nice cars both of them. But the driver of the R8 is sloppy. The R8 V10 should be much quicker than it appears in this video. Give both cars to The Stig- and let him drive them on the Top Gear test track. That would proberbly end out to the favor of the R8.

The RS is a great little car. It has more estrogen than testosterone ie I think the TT range is targeted toward women.
The R8 is a different kind of beast and is not just to do with 0-60 and speed. It is an entry point supercar and is cheap compared to the Lambo that shares the same engine albeit with a slightly different stroke. Like Clarkson, I think it is one of the best cars around.
Currently have a 3.2TT and am looking to possibly trade for an Rs, I'd like to know how the RS compares with the V8 R8? Not really sure there is enough performance difference to justify the massive hike in price between the R8 and RS though.
@ObviouslyBoredKid seriously do your homework, the R8 was made with a 4.2L V8 as well as a 5.2L V10. The V10 was also made in two models, Coupe and Spyder.
@AntNLucee The TTRS also has a back seat and is considering cheaper on fuel and maintenance while still having great performance. Stick with the TTRS unless you can REALLY afford the R8 and have a second car.

this is a cool test, but value for money...the ttrs will get you noticed by people who know its not a regular tt, the r8 will get you noticed and its a supercar with the status and the big engine. value for money doesnt really play a part when buying a supercar, if you can afford the r8 you can afford the tt but not the other way round
it's 66,000 in Euros.. in USD it's $87K then you have to pay TTL and probably a luxury tax as well.. It will be probably damn close to $92K in USD after it's all said and done.. All the ones slated for US delivery in 3rd quarter 2011 are probably already reserved. Probably can't actually stroll up to a dealership that will carry one and buy one until mid or late 2012. Then as soon as you buy it, the world ends.. LOL!!

@oistein74 Good luck with that, the R8 is normally aspirated, from my own experience tuning my V10 Audi, you can spend 10k $ USD in mods and only get 25-30 WHP. If you spend that much on the TTRS you will have a car putting down MORE power to the wheels than even the might V10 R8, and with a little less weight I believe...
No wonder he's not going anywhere in the R8 - he's not driving it properly lol, it can cope with corners at unbelievable speeds. And i'd have an R8 just for the V10 radio behind me

it's not so hard to get rid of the tt-rs's understeer you just have to remap tha ecu to send no more then 30% of the power to the front wheels if you do that it would just grip and if you push it a bit more it would oversteer

Currently have a 3.2TT and am looking to possibly trade for an Rs, I'd like to know how the RS compares with the V8 R8? Not really sure there is enough performance difference to justify the massive hike in price between the R8 and RS though.

@ObviouslyBoredKid seriously do your homework, the R8 was made with a 4.2L V8 as well as a 5.2L V10. The V10 was also made in two models, Coupe and Spyder.

@AntNLucee The TTRS also has a back seat and is considering cheaper on fuel and maintenance while still having great performance. Stick with the TTRS unless you can REALLY afford the R8 and have a second car.

Eh this is the v10 R8.... Seriusly though lol the v8 probably would have lost in the corners and would have been pretty or close to even on the straight. Not to mention the facts RS 60k, v8 114k, v10 158k.

this is a cool test, but value for money...the ttrs will get you noticed by people who know its not a regular tt, the r8 will get you noticed and its a supercar with the status and the big engine. value for money doesnt really play a part when buying a supercar, if you can afford the r8 you can afford the tt but not the other way round

it's 66,000 in Euros.. in USD it's $87K then you have to pay TTL and probably a luxury tax as well.. It will be probably damn close to $92K in USD after it's all said and done.. All the ones slated for US delivery in 3rd quarter 2011 are probably already reserved. Probably can't actually stroll up to a dealership that will carry one and buy one until mid or late 2012. Then as soon as you buy it, the world ends.. LOL!!

@oistein74 Good luck with that, the R8 is normally aspirated, from my own experience tuning my V10 Audi, you can spend 10k $ USD in mods and only get 25-30 WHP. If you spend that much on the TTRS you will have a car putting down MORE power to the wheels than even the might V10 R8, and with a little less weight I believe...

it's not so hard to get rid of the tt-rs's understeer you just have to remap tha ecu to send no more then 30% of the power to the front wheels if you do that it would just grip and if you push it a bit more it would oversteer
