This is the version I remember. Love this song. Takes me back to lazy summers by the pool as a kid in my hometown. I agree about the Hollies. After all these years, you immediately recognize their sound.
I first heard this song when I was 9 years old. Wow, it sounds still as fresh as it did about a half century ago! I always get bolted when Allan sings "Oh, it hurts me."
Thank you, 74sodapop. The sound quality is superb.
One of their best, the chorus is as catchy as any chorus in the 60s, and that's saying something. Of course new Hollies lovers should check out Crosby Stills and Nash's first album (Graham Nash left the Hollies for CSN)
I only found out a few months ago that this was first done by the Hollies and not Linda Ronstadt. I like a lot of her stuff, but this version pisses all over hers!
Nobody can touch the Hollies for breathtaking harmonies... except maybe Crosby, Stills and Nash. Thanks for posting this one!
It was actually first recorded by Evie Sands in 1965 but did not chart in either the US or UK The Hollies version peaked at #2 in the UK although it did hit #1 in the NME charts (March 1966)
Those harmonies and the ringing guitar are what make this classic one of their best.

This is my favorite song by The Hollies. My favorite part is Graham's vocal in the chorus. In his prime, he was one of the best male pop vocalists.

The harmony in this song is unsurpassed - I love the Hollies - on equal par with the Beatles -I miss them so very much!!
