hey about the protein shake.. I went to a gym with my buddy a little while back and we were talking to this lady that worked there and she explain that you should drink a protein shake right after your done working out for the best results.
From my understanding the most important time to get your protein shake in is after the workout, along with a few carbs (not too much). Its also recommended to take protein (less than after the workout) and a few carbs about an hour before the workout. And of course also be getting protein throughout the day with meals and snacks. Your meals sound about right. You will loose fat as you add muscle, keep a slight caloric deficit most days.
It doesn't matter when during the day you drink your protein drink. It is very difficult to add muscle mass and reduce fat at the same time. Adding mass requires a surplus of calories while reducing fat requires a caloric deficit. Not saying its impossible...
Focus on reducing any excess body fat first. You will get leaner... and stronger. I promise. To do this, eat about 350-700 calories less than you use per day. Protein shakes and what not count in your daily calories.
spread out threwout the day because the body can only process so much protien at one time. Good luck and hope that helps feel free to e-mail me if you have anny questions.
