My cousin had an Imaginary friend or should say Enemy. He was a Terrible Friend hitting her tell her to do bad things. she would tell her mom to make him stop hitting her. i thought somehow Imaginary Friends are ghosts. Heard Children have a high 6th sence. but when you grow older you dont have it no more.

I've had schizophrenic friends who would take umbrage at that comment; as would the ones with childhood imaginary friends. You know - it makes me genuinely sad that ANYONE would cry "peado" at Fred at the end of this movie. He's a child in adult form & is temporarily adult as Lizzy makes the transition to full, happy, confident adult. He's not human. Lizzy also forgives her mother for being an imperfect person, not just a parent.
How you interpret this movie says more about you & your hang-ups than it does about the movie.

@ThePinkBinks I DID cry at the ending. Because Fred was her best friend and she was his. That doesn't make me a bad person and that doesn't change the meaning. It simply means that, it's upsetting to see somebody part with their best friends, knowing they won't see each other again. Especially if they helped them get over their biggest insecurities and fears like the way Fred did.
Crying at the end doesn't make us bad, like you seem to think. So calm down. People can think & do what they want.

She saw the little girl's pinky wrapped around NOTHING - which means it was Fred, obviously. So, please, calm down and chill out. Fred's helping some other little girl, and she knows that and obviously she's happy about that. The ending is still sad to some because he moved on from her, but his work of making her happy is over.

I can relate to this girl lizzie sooo much, my lifes kind of been like hers although my mum isn't as evil as her mum but my dad was a twat and my mums been abit of a bitch. I haven't had a man like hers though thank god!! But yeh I've had similarish life to hers. I'm so glad shes stronger in the end though and it's really good shes friends with Micky, they are both really nice people who should be together. Sad Fred had to leave her but good that he found another little girl to have fun with!!
I saw this for the first time today. I know this phrase is overrated, but if it hadn't been for the Nostalgia Critic I would have never known about this film. Well...maybe not as soon as I did, anyway.
moving on - great film! Great message and I must say, I already feel its effect on me! And the ending, while bittersweet, didn't make me cry but it touches me profoundly, and if a film can do that, it must be a good film, no denying!

Remember that her parents are divorced and Fred said to Lizzy that he was there with her because Lizzy was sad. So the girl must also be sad... I like to imagine that Lizzy and the girl`s father marry- that would make the girl happy... :)
oh... watching this again after almost 10 years and I finally understand why fred had to leave. Their kiss was the perfect way for lizzie to 'grow up' and become an independent woman

I was the same way about it when I was a kid, I understood and then I didn't. Now that I'm older, I understand it much better now. Even though it was fun, it was still meant to teach you something. The critics missed an important part in the end about Lizzie. The problems that you have as a child and are not addressed, it can follow you into adulthood. Make you weak, fragile, and even afraid of being yourself, just like her. If you don't put the pieces back together, then your just lost.
I LOVE the film and there's nothing wrong with the ending it was just a kiss :) stop the arguments and start the love :) x

I can relate to this girl lizzie sooo much, my lifes kind of been like hers although my mum isn't as evil as her mum but my dad was a twat and my mums been abit of a bitch. I haven't had a man like hers though thank god!! But yeh I've had similarish life to hers. I'm so glad shes stronger in the end though and it's really good shes friends with Micky, they are both really nice people who should be together. Sad Fred had to leave her but good that he found another little girl to have fun with!!

I saw this for the first time today. I know this phrase is overrated, but if it hadn't been for the Nostalgia Critic I would have never known about this film. Well...maybe not as soon as I did, anyway.
moving on - great film! Great message and I must say, I already feel its effect on me! And the ending, while bittersweet, didn't make me cry but it touches me profoundly, and if a film can do that, it must be a good film, no denying!
Plus Rik Mayall was cute here :)

The one thing that I don't like at the end of this movie is that Fred went to that girl.... I mean Lizzie needed him because her life was a complete shit and fred was there to help her, but that girl right there looks like she dosnt need help at all

Remember that her parents are divorced and Fred said to Lizzy that he was there with her because Lizzy was sad. So the girl must also be sad... I like to imagine that Lizzy and the girl`s father marry- that would make the girl happy... :)

oh... watching this again after almost 10 years and I finally understand why fred had to leave. Their kiss was the perfect way for lizzie to 'grow up' and become an independent woman

I saw this movie on TV once as a kid, but I didn't understand it and thought it was just plain weird and annoying. I just finished watching it again now that I'm older, more open minded, and I have a new found appreciation for this film. =) ~Thanks for posting!

I was the same way about it when I was a kid, I understood and then I didn't. Now that I'm older, I understand it much better now. Even though it was fun, it was still meant to teach you something. The critics missed an important part in the end about Lizzie. The problems that you have as a child and are not addressed, it can follow you into adulthood. Make you weak, fragile, and even afraid of being yourself, just like her. If you don't put the pieces back together, then your just lost.
