I tried my new tramps in 18kts of wind today. We have higher waves on Lake WA, and I must say I was a little concerned about the tramps catching wind. When the leeward ama is already low when you are sitting high on the peak of the wave, windward ama is really high and the wind pushes hard. I ended roling them tramps in.
The lines are bungee cords that are clipped onto the sail for downwind work. The camera is on a PVC pole that you see running down the the back deck. Speeds are from 6 to the high nines. Chop slows you down but feels fast.
I did go sailing once (or tried to) with the wheels still hooked up. Won't even peddle good!
This is my favorite clip of yours. I just got an Adventure Island on Lake Washington, Seattle. It's a lot of fun. Clocked 8.2 kts on GPS today, but I got a lot more wet than what I can see on your vids. A few questions:
(1) What are the lines leading to the aft of your amas? I don't have them... Previous model?
(2) How did you rigg your camera?
(3) Did you clock your speed in these conditions?
You vid feels faster than what I did. Maybe I should take out the trailer wheels ;-)
Looks like you are hauling!!

I noticed your MirageDrive on the back of the AI. Do you take them off when sailing or are those spare?

I love the idea of bungee cords. So far I have been holding the sails with my arms, but this is ingenious. Glad I asked.
I think the boat could go faster, if it could lift the bow and the leeward ama a tad. Maybe some mini-hydrofoils could do the trick.
We should have an owners association on facebbok. Shall I start one?
