since he started playing he blew that way (cheeks puffed instead of controlling it)...then it gradually got worse and worse throughout the decades with the force at which he played (high notes etc.)

This really seems older than '76. Plus I remember a show like this that would have been when I was in elementary school, which would have been 1975 at the latest.
