I made this... Turned out amazingggg!!! Would be great with some milk or slightly buttered! I had some problem with the rising of the dough though. My mom said that to activate the yeast, it needs some warm liquid (milk), some sugar, and a warm place to rise. When the dough wasn't rising, she put it in the oven, which was recently turned off, to rise. It worked!
if u guys comment about going out to buy it why even search and watch this video in the 1st place?? put up a video about driving out to tesco to get it...
I'm sure most of you are so hostile because basic baking ingredients are so hard to come across in your respective third world countries. Hot cross buns ftw!
they actually make a step for serve? really? like we are all so retarded we wouldnt work that out... i mean i was gonna wash them first but if you say so -.- lol
Ive never tried homemade Buns, they look delicious. Youre right, they are traditionally eaten on Good Friday but they pre-date Christianity. Like most Christian holidays or celebrations, they are pagan is origin. The buns were eaten in honor of the goddess Eostre. The cross is not a cross as such; it simply divides the bun into four sections. This is either to symbolize the four quarters of the moon or the four seasons. The word Eostre is most likely the origin of the name Easter.
I don't like cooking anything, but this video intrigued me immensely! Give me 3 months and i'll be a dedicated subscriber haha! 5/5! or thumb up whatever. new youtube. yayyy.
Bad demo-if you add the currants initailly it will turn to a brown mush, plus you give no guidelines for time.
Make sure your currrants are soaked in water before you start .
Make dough ,but dont add extra flour at end, as this makes the dough too tight(the dough should be sticky and loose if you want a moist bun),adding fruit as you finish kneading, make the crosses with pastry and cut or pipe it onto buns just beforebaking

You can avoid the allspice. It is really not necessary if you serve it in the UK.

some people just don´t get the meaning of cooking videos:
you
can
do
things
yourself
instead of buying them. Because they taste so much better when u know u did them yourself.

Hot Cross Buns in the UK don' have a cut on top, there's some sort of white piping to mark the cross.
