He was a civil rights activist sticking up for the 13th, 14th & 15th Amendments, before he stuck up for the 2nd Amendment. He did so before it was Hollywood trendy to do so which means he put his career on the line for civil rights in the 60s before he put his career on the line in the 90s & 2000s with the NRA. This is not at all rooted in science. Besides, if we really started the evolutionary process over from simple bacteria, there's no telling how long or if the same sequence of events would happen leading to intelligent life. This is just rationalizing trashing the earth and HOPING with blind faith that everything will be ok.
Let's be good stewards of the earth, like we need to keep our bodies clean, our rooms clean, our houses clean, and our immediate environs clean. Beyond that, we can't change the whole world -- just our little piece of it. Worry more about yourself (don't drive alone to the next earth day meeting, that is..). Just be a good steward of what you have been given.
