One of the greatest powerpop songs of all time, and the whole album is beyond great. This record changed my life -- I bought a Rickenbacker guitar a couple weeks after hearing it for the first time about 20 years ago. Still one of my all-time faves. The songs! The voice!
@CatapultYourMom No doubt, the Pistols lp has better audio, but it's apples and oranges my friend. North American punk acts always had to record on the cheap and got no support from the mainstream press or radio. Be content with the pure joy of the performance! Cheers
The original version on vinyl sounds a lot better. But whoever put out the CD version did a second rate job--when you put it up against the original record. Sonically, you're not getting the full picture. But as far the band itself being "amateurish"? Great songs. Great drummer and bass player. Felice is one of the finest rock'n'roll singers around.
Amazing band! Definetly one of the most overlooked bands from the seventies. Always been a fan since 76, seen them live back then and STILL play em today.
The Strokes and there likes today only sound like a pale imitation in comparison to the original power pop/ punk.
holy crap I know this song! a punk band called Klover did a cover. their guitarist/singer was Mike Stone, who was the guitarist for Queensryche for a while. You learn something new every day.
I made a film with a friend in boston in 1977 great real kids footage and sound we filed at the rat and cbgb I believe it is still out there. the other film maker is no longer with us. it would be great to get my hands on it to make a copy. please leave a message here if yopu have info. thanks,
I bought this single, in 1977, in Italy. It was advertised/promoted in Rock magazines as Punk Rock, together with The Flaming Groovies, Blondie, Talking Heads, Police, The Jam, The Runaways, Ian Dury, etc... (and the obvious ones: Sex Pistols, Ramones, The Damned, The Stranglers, Richard Hell, Patti Smith, Dead Boys, The Clash, Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers, etc.. etc..)
@electrokinesis Yeah, they were something live..we used to say we went to the fights and a Real Kids show broke out. The Rat in Kenmore was a crazy awesome place.
Great tune. Great band. If you like the real kids, you should check out a band called Teenage Frames from Chicago. They're like real kids incarnate all over again. More Songs, Less Music is a great album. Do check them out.
One of the best rock'n'roll (+pop-punk) bands in sonic history !

I just have to say that....anyone who would call this tune the "weakest, thinnest, recording Imaginable", obviously has cloth ears.

Hey, another indication that if you were a teen in the late '70's, radio cheated you.

I've heard of these guys, but never heard them. Man, this is the weakest, thinnest recording imaginable. Who produced this?
I'm sure the people who were there and saw them live have different feelings, but this just sounds amateurish, and not in a good way.
