thats fine if youre happy with android 2.3 until you get a new phone, but the hardware is more than capable of running 4.0, however motorola are extremely lapse with thier customer and device support. My milestone 1 didnt get the 2.2 update until after 2.3 was released, and now it isnt getting the 2.3 update :S again, i understand the appeal of the milestone 2, i too was going to buy one originally, but the brand itself put me right off xD
@moggylane this hands down. The only drawback is the fact that the screen on this is 0.5" smaller than on the ace, and the ace has a longer battery life. That aside, the resolution of the screen is the same (so there is a higher pixel density than the ace), the cpu in this phone is 1000MHz (as opposed to the ace's 800MHz), this phone has 512MB of RAM (as opposed to the ace's 278MB which is sluggish and positively dismal), the picture quality should be similar
@moggylane This phone is capable of HD video recording, whereas the ace is not, they both run android version 2.3, and also remember that this phone has that all important slide out qwerty keyboard which you will not find on the galaxy note :)
@moggylane hey man, bit of advice for you here, ive been the owner of a milestone one since it came out, and it has been nothing but trouble, the phone is riddled with faults and the OS is glitchy, howerver the hardware such as the screen and camera are outstanding. The milestone 2 design has addressed many of the issues of the milestone one, however it has a few issues still, mostly relating to the fact that it is a motorola haha
@moggylane the milestone 2 also has motoblur, which slows down your phone over time and becomes quite laggy. The operating system itself is also likely to be riddled with bugs, as is the way with all of motorola's devices. Granted, the screen is far better than on this phone, however remember that this will cause the phone to perform less impressively because of all those extra pixels it has to push. The final thing to consider is that the milestone 2 WILL NOT get an official android 4.0 update.
@MrAcme15 changed my mind again :D (you are probably getting annoyed with me right now :) ) but anyways the phone is the lg black over this or the milestone 3....or could you telll me a goood high end smartphone ....becasue youre an EXPERT :D any way thanks bro
@moggylane lol no dont worry its fine haha, the milestone 3 stomps the lg optimus black into the dirt. the oprimus black has a single core 1ghz cpu, the milestone 3 has a dual core 1ghz cpu (so twice the power), they have the same ammount of RAM, the milestone 3 has 16gb of internal storage whereas the optimus black has just 2gb of internal storage. The screen of the milestone 3 has a significantly higher pixel density (540x960 pixels vs the optimus blacks 480x800 pixels)
@moggylane both phones have the same physical screen size (4 inches) and both sport gorilla glass (scratch resistant toughened glass), both currently run android 2.3.4, but both will most likely get the 4.0 update. However it is worth noting that because the optimus black is less powerful, the battery life is considerably better, but at the same time you would be missing out on that amazing qwerty keyboard and that breathtaking screen :P
@moggylane for a high end dual core smartphine WITHOUT a qwerty, i would recommend either the HTC Sensation, or the Samsung Galaxy S2 (the s2 has a little more RAM, however the Sensaations screen is a 540x960 whereas the galaxy S2's is a 480x800), if you want a dual core phone with a qwerty, look no further than the milestone 3. If you would rather stick with a solo core phone then i recommend the sony ericsson xperia pro (as it has a qwerty keyboard) or the HTC Desire HD/S etc.
@moggylane There are however quad core smartphones on the scene now such as the HTC One X, however as you can imagine it is accompanied by an obscene pricetag.
Despite all this, the phone you should get relies heavily on what you want from it (amazing screen, slide out qwerty, long battery life, the best camera, reliability, gaming performance, durability etc etc) it is hard to recommend a phone without knowing these things :)
@moggylane remember though that i am no means an expert and i have not tried all of these devices myself. I rely on my passion for modern technology, the fact that i keep up to date on advances in tech, cold hard facts and figures, customer reviews and video reviews,
@moggylane if you look at my video history you will probably see that i too am looking for a new phone, however i am looking in the £150 to £180 range (around $230 to $280) so i am looking mostly at solo core handsets and ones which i could buy used.
@MrAcme15 I'm in the same situation as you bro, (Don't want to blow all my fucking money on one stupid cunt of a phone)...(I'm from Ireland so that'll explain my foul language :D)...oh and I'm getting my phone off Amazon
(its 228.592 euro fucking cheap) for something you'd pay 400 Euros here where I'm living anyway bro what phone have you you're eyes on at the moment
@m0majeed Yes it is such a poor design and the lead is so short and you can't answer the phone if you are charging it! Other than that is isn't a bad phone, but when making a call the sound is not clear, quite poor foe a sony, how do you find the phone calls?
this phone is great ive had one for around a week and a half very very good android phone im very happy with it... i thought the small screen would put me of but it dont.
@vikram592 yes buddy it is ive had one of these for about a week and half and im very happy the keyboard has a back light that is in fact rearly good ... takecare
@MelHadjiDiouf yes ive installed messenger and hotmail from the android market instead of using the default email app built in and they are very good aswell
@TechnologyStorm Thanks for answering. i was torn between this one and the HTC ChaCha but the lack of adobe flash player, smaller screen and vertical "game boy" like look of the Chacha are definitively making picking up this one .
Does the phone switch into landscape view if you tilt it anytime or do you have to slide the keypad out switch into landscape when in internet or any place other than a photo or a video????
@DripShadow so how is it? i've just bought and now waiting for it to arrive. Was originally gona get the Xperia Pro for obvious reasons but then the release date for that phone is a big issue atm. So what do u think of the phone?
@TheCaladbolg13 I love this phone... i've slobbered over it for too long, including the x10 mini pro. i'm only going to name the cons. cam qual is decent at best but gets the job done when needed. the battery life is a major issue. I'm used to not charging my phones for days (i dont talk a lot). i have to charge this every night. which isn't so bad, but the night we forget to, the following day we might pay for it. (could always bring a cable with you for emergencies) who wants to do that tho?!
@DripShadow but seriously, it has yet to really run out on me but the lack of endurance is in fact noticeable. like i said i don't talk a lot and it still runs pretty fast, if you talk a lot, you might have to implement some more texting into you social life for this phone. I'm probably going to end up bring those new portable chargers in my backpack for emergencies. either that or a spare battery.keep an eye out if a 15millamp or w/e comes out for it. (i just typed an armful, sorry).
@DripShadow other than that, two more things. obviously some apps/games don't work or are uncomfortable (at first) due to the screen size. (btw i have no problem watching videos on this). and idk if its sony erricssons UI, or android 2.3.3, but i havent figured out simple media tasks like repeat (any kind whether entire playlist or single), realtime random shuffle
@DripShadow (theres a shuffle, i like it when a random songs plays, i go back to the previous, and after that the next song is STILL random, not the same one i skipped by going back. its not truly, random. could be fixed with like ADW launcher if necessary) lol nvm, its just that the media ui for songs is lacking simple shit. or is hard to find.. oh and the volume rockers are a bit hard to press (especially the vol. down) you'll get used to it though.
@DripShadow just use the side of your thumb. a reviewer said the power button was too but its not. and if it is for you just use the home button in front. lol wow.... sorrry for the essay
@DripShadow Yeah..i've heard abt the battery life being a bit of a let down for this phone. Which is really a shame considering that they were perfect everything that was wrong with the X10 min pro phone with this the Xperia mini pro. Well, nothin i can do now. I think ill survive with it lol. I usually charge my phone first thing in the morning and sometimes when i get home. Still really sucks that the battery life is so low, i mean this phone really isnt all that bad. Thanx for the reply :D
@TheCaladbolg13 keys are backlit, i have the white one so it seems less backlit due to contrast, and while it doesnt shine, theres never a moment where you can't visually identify each key (although for the white one, in rare instances its easier to see without the backlight (white + light = bad contrast) on that note, i dont think they programmed the browser button right or fully. that globe button doesnt launch my browser. maybe i have to set it though.
@FarronLightningXIII this thing... does not lag. only lag i see is when taking pictures. now it actually snaps pictures instantly, a lot faster than normal smartphones. however when focusing with poor lighting it has to do some processing so it lags for a bit but no more than 1 whole second. sometimes the whole process is as instant as a digital cam. depends on the lighting i guess.
Respond to this video... the pictures themselves are mediocre. they say HD but its really not. A professional reviewer mentioned this. i just think the actual lens is bad. When viewing on the phone things look decent not impressive or crystal clear but decent. when looking on the computer screen, things look grainy and have noise, while not terrible.
@DripShadow you don't want to buy this for the camera, but if you're ok with decent-at-best quality you'll live. in short, i would not recommend this camera for recording precious memories like graduations or even birthdays, but bullshit parties and fun references are cool.
@THEREALghostlaced idk yet, but as a matter of fact. retract the battery statement. at first it was a problem but now it is just fine. i've gon eback to my neglectful ways of charging. leaving my phone uncharged for like 2 days. it holds up just fine. all i do is have a homescreen with four switches: wifi, bluetooth, sound, and display. when i'm not using thosefeatures i simply click them to turn them off. saves ALOT of battery. cuts display power in half. and when i need i simply turn them on.
hmmmm 1ghz processor adreno 205 gpu and a smaller screen (less pixels to push) and a bravia graphics I CAN'T WAIT TO PLAY ZELDA! CRASH BANICOOT! SPYRO! AND BANJO! ALL ON MY PHONE awwwww yeah :) can't wait to buy
Htc chachacha or this? SOS! I whatsapp a lot, I was wondering if I would have trouble sliding th keyboard up and down every second...

@moggylane what country are you living in? as the milestone 3 isnt available everywhere.
MrAcme15 1 day ago
@moggylane for a high end dual core smartphine WITHOUT a qwerty, i would recommend either the HTC Sensation, or the Samsung Galaxy S2 (the s2 has a little more RAM, however the Sensaations screen is a 540x960 whereas the galaxy S2's is a 480x800), if you want a dual core phone with a qwerty, look no further than the milestone 3.
