This is what most people miss BOTH MOM AND DAD take care of the young...Even before they hatch dad still takes care of mom sitting on the eggs which is a full time job. The only time our female leaves the nesting box while sitting on eggs is to go for a SH**, then she returns to the eggs. Dad even feeds mom so she does not need to leave the eggs.
I've been looking for a video I saw a couple of years ago. It was of two blue and golds in a nestbox that just laid an egg. You could see without a shadow of doubt that they were excited about the egg and in love with each other.
Excellent and what an education for parrot breeders -- The value of parent-fed babies: Priceless! The longer (months, not days!) the parents are allowed to feed their babies, the better by far for the babies!
What huge gentle beaks they have!! It didn't really look like there was any food going into the baby though? The baby looked well fed though....so maybe they were just pacifying the baby?
You are so lucky :-)

They are such beautiful animals.... It is so sad that because of the pet trade they will probably dissapear in the wild in the next 10 years :(
