  • I was 14 when Keith passed. I remember just crying because you just knew the country music world had such a great singer. Keith is living on through his son Jessie Keith Whitley.

  • Keith did not seem like the alcohol type

  • I can't believe it's been over 20 yrs ago. And by the way, to outlaw, forget you. Elvis's funeral was broadcast too. What is your problem?

  • went to nashville and visited keiths grave he is my favorite singer for ever got chills standing there it was so real yet i was sad wish i had not to go to see him this way love you keith

  • Its so sad that his life had to end like that. I mean I was just a kid, 7-8 years old when that happened and when I started listening to his music it was already too late

  • RIP Keith, always thinking of you when i put play your songs in the car.

  • Keith was always him self and that was one thing besides his great voice that made him so special it didn't matter if he had on the finest of clothes standing in front of thousands of people or wearing jeans and t-shirt he was still that good ole country boy from Sandy Hook, Ky. He never got above his raisings, he was a down to earth type of guy.Does anyone know if he had kids with his 1st wife?

  • @kathy2010spears Thanks for the comments. You were right on the money. To answer your question, he only had one biological child and one adopted child, his son with Lorrie and Lorrie's daughter. He did not have any children with Kathy.

  • @kathy2010spears nope jEsse Keith is his only child Besides Morgan he adopted her from Lorries 1st husband!

  • It disgusts me that somebody broadcasted family and friends of a deceased person grieving over the internet for the whole world to see

  • @OutlawAF98 Or that there would even be a crew from the Nashville Network that was there even taping it in the first place for a future story on the funeral, which they wound up broadcasting??? Is that what you're saying? Are you a Keith Whitley fan, or do you just like leaving nasty comments on my videos? Keith Whitley was a celebrity. He was a public figure. Those in his field choose to enter a field where they are under constant public scrutiny. Other singers accept it, & you should, too.

  • After all these year Keith may be gone but never will he be forgotten. Keith music will live forever in our hearts.

  • My car is Keith Whitley blue!!

  • @jackhair311 Love it! =)

  • I'm gonna miss his drunk ass.

  • Was this an overdose?

  • RIP Keith you are a great person. I love your voice. and MIss you a great deal. To the people that find it so easy to put people down. Keith never hit Lorrie. They were loves of each others lives. They lived for each other. They have a kind of love that most people will only dream of and never have. Lorrie has said over and over that he will always be her one true love. You can read anything you want to and never that he hurt her or hit her. She Married Sammy Kershaw you will read he hit her

  • @eminemlover1967 He never beat her. He was the love of her life. You need to get your story straight and stop writing garbage. Her is the low down she was married to Dwayne Allmon and he died, so then she meet and married Keith Whitely he was the love of her life they were so very very much in love somthing only some people dream of. He never put his hands on her. Then he died and she married Sammy Kershaw I believe he did hit her a few times; Never Keith

  • RIP KEITH

  • I wish people would remember Keith for his music and not for his bad habits. We're all subject to our own downfalls.

  • keith will live forever! i love him for him and the gift he gave the world, not what he should have done differently.

  • I love his music. I was a child when he died and didn't understand it then. It's a shame he died so young. Lorrie tried to save him, but with any addiction, you have to save yourself. Rest in peace, Keith.

  • I loved Keith and I understand his pain.

  • I love George Strait but if Keith would have live people wouldn't be calling George the King of Country Music. Keith was the best true country singer since Merle Haggard and George Jones.

  • been 20 years now since his death I remember he played at the Decaur Ark BBQ

  • i feel keith`s demons go way back. i can see right through him.his talent and goodness has earned him a place in the cmhof.let`s get it done.one of the best singers i`ve ever heard.

  • Sign the petition and say so there, where about 3,000 like-minded people have already signed and said how they feel. The link is on my channel.

  • he is a relative to the owner of Jacksonville"s Whitley Steal..John Whitley Sr.(the owner) could be his twin..

  • I think you have your information wrong. Her fights were with her last husband, Sammy Kershaw, not with her 2nd husband Keith Whitley. Larry King discussed it with Lorrie in 2004. Read the transcript. Google it. She had nothing but nice things to say about Keith, to Larry King and in her book. BTW, have you read the book, or had someone read it to you? The whole book is dedicated to her love affair with Keith Whitley.

  • Did you see him do it?

  • the day keith died... to me is the day REAL country music died.

  • makes sense...i agree

  • miss you keith love your wife also Lori

  • I went to his funeral and cried like he was one of my family members. He was and still is the best country singer ever...

  • Man, He had "It"! whatever that special magic is that all the greats have, he had it. I still get chills when I hear his voice. Definitely one of the greats! Blew me away when I heard he had passed.

  • its hard to think he has been gone 20 yrs ago may 9th

    what a tragic loss!!!

  • Wow the year I was born was when he died ='(

  • saddest day in country music.

  • @carsbuff theres also Hank Williams, Gary Stewart and Conway Twitty

  • That's why I am glad I am not a major artist in the industry. There are just too many tempatations. Keith was a great singer though.

    ~Derek

  • Wow... RIP Keith. I was almost 7 when he died. He was awesome... still love his music. Had he not died, Garth Brooks would not have existed. Well, maybe he would have, but he would be in now way as popular as he was.

  • @TiredofTheBullShit2 Yes, he definately had Garth Brooks' potential. Garth knew that and that's one reason he mentions Keith in his video of The Dance. Makes you wonder what makes one person go under, while another makes it all the way up like Garth. RIP Keith. You are in a better place now.

  • WOW

  • people believed in keith, people loved his music, and people get inspired by his music to become great artists, to who they are today. god bless keith whitley, and he wont be forgotten. i listen to his music; wasnt born in the late 80s; and he has inspired me to become who i am today.

  • The perfect delivery of a country song, lives on forever. Peace.

  • Keith had been playing a long time and getting up on stage was probably where he was most at home.

I've read that he started drinking at an early age.

I also read that he drank alone.

He obviously had a high tolerance for alcohol.

So much, that he teetered on alcohol poisoning every time he drank.

    He knew great songs,

and he knew how to deliver.

His voice and his mucic is right up there with country's best.

Head to head, who could beat him?

  • Would have been the closest thing to George Jones we would have had. A true talent! Missed by many.

  • Keith Whitley... a *true* country singer who left us way too soon.

Next time I'm in Nashville, I want to visit his grave at Spring Hill Cemetery.

    RIP, Keith.

  • Thank you for posting this, the other day I was watching for the first time Garth's video for THE DANCE and it's so heartbreaking seeing the footage of Keith dancing with Lorrie..Keith talent was very unique!!

  • Keith had the best voice for country music of all time. We miss you Keith.

  • Very sad day indeed. . . . . . . . .

  • Sad day indeed. We love you Keith and God be with you.
