A warrant for disorderly conduct? What a waist of man power and police resources. Don't you interrupt the peace more by serving the warrant? If it didn't require an immediate arrest how disorderly could it have been? Did the police fail to do their job at the time or did they just want to learn who the protesters would be so the could arrest them later without cameras and witnesses. I would vote who ever is responsible out of office.
I am still shocked that they picked this state or anywhere on the east coast for a "free state" to be moved to. The west coast would have been a much better choice. However I think you are needed in that state by the looks of things on the Ridley Report!
So they had warrants for specific people? That sounds like something that should leave a very wide paper trail through the system, since warrants "should" have oaths or affirmations by someone that crimes have been committed.
.
It would be very interesting to see what judge(s) signed those warrants, too.
Great work Dave. Thanks. I would suggest that if you intend to ask these talking heads about things they weren't privy to first hand, perhaps directing them to some educational video first may help them to form an opinion....or at least give them one less excuse not to have one. No comment my ass...it's simple...would you want this done to your kid. There ya go. Thanks again Dave.
Really, it's about educatinga populace. I can't stress more strongly that maintaining the moral highground (not just in one's mind, but in real tangible ways) is job one. Everything else flows from that and if you gain it and then squander it, a just movement will set itself back, the degree to which depends on the level of the misdeed, often years, in any case. You need to think about using "medical" marijuana as a platform in an incremental strategy for ultimate, full-scale, legalization
Oakland, I might add, is set to enact (its leading in the polls) a proposition to legalize marijuana for everyone (not just "medical" users, as is the case, state-wide, now). What's rather remarkable about this is that Oakland, the East Bay, and the Bay Area, in general, has not escaped the police-state "mentality" which has afflicted law enforcement nation wide. There is an obvious disconnect between "the people" and "the police-state".
The reason we have been able to overcome this "disconnect" is two-fold, imo. One, our local legislators, in general, reflect the will of the people. Lesson: electing people who are sympathetic is crucial. Two, there has been an organized effort by activists, about 20 years, which has finally borne fruit. Lesson: activists must be organized (and unified) they must use an incremental strategy. If well articulated, the people (voters), after a time, will come to empathy and understanding.
Ridley, you've outdone yourself. This is genius. Your most important work I've seen so far. I would love to hear follow-ups after the honorable aldermen have had time to adequately understand the situation, as well as comments from all other Nashua aldermen.
@mackler Yes, asking the Aldermen about the actions of their "employees", the cops, is a wonderful tactic. Almost like they are responsible for what happens in their city!
This is why you have problems, because of people just like this, who probably considers his own opinions to be benign to some degree or another. Unfortunately, his opinions perpetuate this utter nonsense that we see on display right now. This is 2010, for the love of goodness. Victimless-"crimes", like smoking marijuana, should not subject one to contact from the police. This is incredibly barbaric activity. Shame on ALL of the so-called "leaders" of Nashua.
In 1980, I was 16, and during this period of time ('80s), I smoked joints very casually just walking down the streets, because I felt no shame about it. Even though this was Berkeley, I still got looks from people, who obviously thought my activity was "radical", that I should hide it and act ashamed. Since then, Berkeley has not avoided the "police-state" mentality that has gripped the nation, but back then, they were cool people. We've gone backwards (big-time), as a nation.
bureaucrats/peons are insane, anti-life/pro-CORPSe, they enslave dolls. Merchandise is replicated nature from cosmic debris, use for idle/idol time, things are for ewe. They sell dolls today, in the past it was people, slavery is illegal now & plastic dolls can't rebel, run away. Dolls are sold to fools, life becomes "free time", soon slaves to things. They debase air/land/water, put ax to trees/orchards, make plastic plants. They arrest mother nature issue warrant for God, conspired, grew pot.
