I wish you lived near me so I could learn how to play the sax. I've always loved this instrument. And now that I'm retired, I'm thinking of buying one and learning how to play.
@fluid1986 Don't sweat it bro.Just learn a few or more blues scales, keep at it for a good while and you will be able to come up with something of your own.Even down here in the southern U.S (considered the birth lands of jazz and blues)It's considered a dying art form.I know this one cat who plays in a jazz and blues cover band and says it's not easy at all to teach because hardly anybody knows the blues anymore. In general good music period is a dying breed
The only reason y'all are complainin is cuz she's a woman. She sounds just as good as a man, but y'all see she's a woman so you're thinking she can't really be good. I play clarinet, sax, and flute and I get the same thing. When I audition behind a screen, no problem, but once they see I'm female, they start discounting what I'm doing. No always, but a lot of the time.
I don't want to play like a man anyway. I got my own thing.
Youre vidoes need a little more information but other than that i actually learned some new. Thanks!! Cause i have to play a blues solo for my school band!
hey guys, dont knock on the right/wrong way to hold the saxophone. the only thing that matters is that you close your eyes and shake your head when playing a blues scale like she does and call it a "pattern".
Ladies please, please, let me assure you that you dont hold the sax, the sax holds you, there is no correct way to hold it, just let yourself gel with the instrument, your best music comes from within, let your sole take it and the sax will do the rest.
actually there is something called good technique which refers to teh way u hold it and how u want to present urself to others when u play in front of them,if u doint have a goood foundation then ur sound no matter how good u play is ugly,,,,,but as far as a soloist u do watever u like cuse ur a soloist so if u want to hold it a certain way then do so, good video though
What drillteamprodigy20??? That is empty rhetoric nobody practice fixed positions in blues/ jazz... that is a classical forte. Look a the way lester young and parker held their sax it was horrendous they had a sound that was so melodic it could not be reproduced. So stop pls!!!
not holding the sax right? Are you an idiot? There is no "right" way to hold the sax...as long as you sound good, you can hold it however the freak you like. You're such a noob...
I've played for 9 years. I'd ask how long you've been playing but it doesn't really matter...i can already tell that you suck and/or are an amateur who just learned "how to hold his/her saxophone right".
i doubt you've been playing for 18 years (or play at all); someone with that much experience would never say something as stupid as "you're holding it wrong". The way you hold your sax adds to the individuality of the saxophonist - like i said, it's how you sound that matters, not what you look like while playing.
Blues scales are the bastardization of what the blues represents for multiple reasons.

she actually goes: F, E, #D, #C, bB, bA, F (she said D, #C, C, bB, G)
¿?¿?¿?¿?
jmbqo 1 year ago
@jmbqo It's D #C C bB G on the sax, which is in Eb, not in concert C.
