  • Ringo and Davy Jones appeared on the same show long before this commercial. Davy was in a group of kids from the show "Oliver" that performed on the same Ed Sullivan show as the Beatles' first appearance.

  • The commercial made me want a large hot sausage calzone with Recotta cheese from my favorite pizza shop. And, of course, to listen to Beatles and Monkees records.

  • WTF? This wasn't banned! It's just not shown anymore.

  • I remember this from the late '80s American tv. Was it banned in Britain? I didnt know they had Pizza Huts over there.

  • Some people may have been offended? Lennon has been dead for nearly 30 years and this commercial makes no mention of him (although his participation in a reunion would be implied). For goodness sakes! What hyper-sensitive morons would be offended by a little joke?

  • Wha? Why was it banned! They did have The Monkee's playing in the background! Its a cool add tho!

  • I WANT TO HUG THAT STARR.

  • I remember seeing it on TV years ago, I don't believe it was banned per se.

  • pizza pizza

  • Why would they ban this, and ringo is so cute....

  • Maybe cause people got pissed when they thought the beatles would get back together I guess, funny commercial though and yes ringo looks cute :P

  • This wasn't banned, it came out around the time of the Anthology, Ringo's always done ads, just never in the UK (until the Norwich Union very recently). They're all dreadful though. Every one last one.

  • C'mon Lennonmania, an alchololic in Switzerland? He just had a tour last year with his newest album, toured with the All Star band this past summer. What are you a fan or just trying to be cynical? At his age, he doesn't need to prove a thing to anyone anymore. Just look at what happened when he was to appear on Regis live last year.

He still jams and enjoys playing. If he didnt watch his health, he wouldn't have lived this long.

  • Uh, he WAS an alcholholic for a long time.

  • @lolcattify yeah he's been clean for years and in fact has become a vegetarian (well, with the exception of onions which apparently make him ill)

  • why is it banned???

  • wrong lads (hahahahahahahahahaha)

  • They did write some of their own songs. Their careers as Monkees may have ended, but they're still doing great on their own.

  • Why was it banned?

  • it wasnt allowed to be screened in britain because of john lennons death. some people may have been offended.

oh by the way can anyone tell me what ringos up to now? apparently hes an alchaholic in switzerland

if anyone knows mail me, thanks

  • As far as I know, he's living in L.A., and he just released a new album, which is awesome.

  • @EternalSilverFlame I hope not. I thought he was recovering. He talked of being drunk most of his life, even as child, because liquor was part of his family's lifestyle. He said he was probably drunk most of the time with The Beatles, but he'd started a recovery program in the 70s.

  • Actually this commercial aired in the USA in 1996 cause I remember it aired on Nick At Night/MTV/VH-1 when the Monkee Reunion Tour happened.

  • hahahaha.

  • Ringo rules !!!

  • ringo sucks

  • yeah, but he gets away with it...

  • [to markp1967] you suck.

  • I thought it was cute. I love Ringo.

  • it was banned over here because people mightfind it offensive about references to the beatles when one was dead. and emerpus ur quite right

  • Actually I was trying to make a joke there - I'm fairly certain that there are no laws in England to prevent one from comparing the Monkees to the Beatles! And yes, there is no comparison, but lets not slight the Monkees too much: as a musical act they are very underrated. Not in the Beatles' class, but they did make some of the best American pop-rock hits of the time.

  • i know that.

  • depends...what year was it made, what year was it supposed to be banned in the UK....i'll ask me vrit friends....

  • Comparing the Beatles to the Monkees is a criminal offense in England, I believe.

  • I completely agree. There is no comparison.

  • This wasn't banned!

  • This was banned? Why?

  • Yay Ringo!
