If Tibet wants independent counrty first step is to establish non-religious head of goverment. With Dalai Lama you won't get very far. Do not mix politic and religions together. In this way talk with china will be simplier. At least you take out religious grid out of context. Non religious groups has more results. I don't think the tibet culture was supressed. On the contrary, we learnt lots of Tibet songs at least. When I was In China several years ago. I acted as the Chair of the student union somewhere. Each time we organized performance or activities. Perfrmance from ethnics other than Han were specificly organized. I still remebered we had organized dances from Miao,mongolian, Tibetan. I like Tibetan sons very much. Even now, I have some saved in my PC.
