@xXAlecXxC I assume, and this is a mere guess, that since they are filled with Helium, the passing through several of them would potentionally cause a disruption due to different gasses and thus compensation must be made to remain accurate? I mean... that is the only thing I could think to make it anything tricky as you pointed out.

You may be right about adoption of new technologies by military elite of many cultures,as can be seen on my ancestors, the Ottomans. They adopted light firearms as early as late 15th century and used them efficiently. But, if you would not mind, may I ask why matchlock muskets brought to Japan by Portugese tradesmen have never been spread although they were adopted and used for a while. I would assume that military elite may also be conservative and maintain status quo sometimes.
