  • Shadow of the Beast ll, Gods and Monkey Island l..... ;(

  • Yes where can we get an mp3??

  • Where can i get an MP3 of this?

  • I think that was the first game i played and finished in the end, back in '87

  • I want this video to be my entire funeral service. ;)

  • I remember actually dying to hear this in the game lol, the riff still gives me goosebumps!

  • Pink floyd anyone?

  • wow

  • Tim Wright is God and Martin Galway his prophet

  • he was doing so well until the orbital laser locked onto him at last.

  • Whenever I hear this song.

    I put my hackles

  • and remember all game was 1mb x 2, i call it outstanding score...

  • Amiga Shadow of the Beast's music and graphics were out of this world in those times!!!

  • Comment removed

  • anybody know where i can find the other version. for sega?

  • Pink Floyd!

  • Oh my god did pink floyd play this

  • haha yea this is what i remember most lol, must have spent alot of time seeing this lol... but I do admit, i didnt realise how cool the music was!

  • watch?v=I-qaW2mLEsA :)

  • Someone fired their Laz0r.

  • Simply beatiful.

Luckily the game was so unfairly hard, you got to watch this sequence A LOT.

  • a proper fucking death scene, Games today dont even have game over screens as most as designed for retards.

  • thanks for posting that. That riff is embedded in my head permanently, probably because I saw the game over screen a million times! Takes me back.

  • the soundtrack in this game is unmatched, and sounds like from hollywood movie.

  • The most beautifully tragic death scene of any game.

  • @wandererlain Agrees, and it' s just static picture. It' s THAT awesome!

  • @Lordani66 It's very imaginative and atmospheric.

  • Check out that mini shred.

  • it has broken my heart ... a loooong time ago

  • how can any narrow minded fuck dislike this... must be atari st owners :)

  • @cheekyegg I guess the dislikers will mainly be players who saw the game over sequence once too often ;-) I can't blame them for disliking it in that case :-)

I never quite understood the beam in the image. But then, I never read the game guide anyway. If anyone can be bothered to explain it to me, I would be very grateful (although you shouldn't expect to receive any money from me :-P).

  • It could be Pink Floyd ... Do you know the composer ?

  • We still have the emulators, I still play Amiga Games on my PC with them, they are cool.

  • I want this video on a big TV at my funeral, man...

  • @MrBuch169169 You too?

  • i miss my Amiga... I want this tune played at my funeral!!!

  • I Like this Sound i Miss Amiga ! Forever Rust in Pease !

  • GAME OVER MAN! D=

  • Can anyone figure out what that opening chord is? Actually it sounds like two chords on top of each other.

  • awesome music, love it :D

  • this is more of a treat than a punishment for a game over other than that he looks like he is being beamed home

  • I can beleive if found this....its been about 10 years since i witnessed this genius !!! thanks for putting this up and putting my soul to rest haha

  • The guy who played this for the game got the riff from Miami Vice ... of all shows.

    Love this tune.

  • Game over, here's some Gilmour for ya.

  • WOW O.O OUTSTANDING!!!!!!

  • i remember my brother going "hoollly shit!" after hearing this ;D it was that amazing

  • Seeing stuff like this from early childhood makes me go light headed, I swear nostalgia could make you pass out

  • @JimboWizbo totall agree with you man. I suffer that one too.

  • most beautiful Game Over ever *Sniff*

  • I remember how many times I've seen this scene back in the day.... this game is soooo friggin' hard!!! `__´

  • The memories this brings back!!!! Brilliant sequence to this day!!

  • This is... beautifulll... I remember it as it was yesterday :)

  • Looks like he's going to Heaven.

  • Reminds me of "Marooned" by Pink Floyd

  • \/\/ww. siriax .de contains the flash version

  • Got this with my Amiga when I bought it. It probably had some of the best graphics / sequences any Amiga game ever had. Pitty the game was rock solid to play!! I only ever completed it using the cheat and a walkthrough guide!!

  • it was no punishment being send to your room :)

  • first saw this as a 9 or 10-year old, at a new years party, all the children were shepherded upstairs out of the way and played amiga games

  • @sapperhutch how lucky u all were..lol.

  • Quality. All of a sudden it's 1991 again. Without wishing to sound like an old codger (which I am), the youth of today would have a blue fit if they just had a still frame and a guitar solo for a game over screen.

  • 23 years old, and still awsome

  • I wish I never sold my Amiga and all my discs, but at least I was lucky enough to experience the scene in the early 90's!

  • how dare those teens COD call them selves gamers, if they didnt know Amiga and its amazing games?

  • i was a child when this came out, but i feel i missed a life.

  • Anyone tell me a song similar to this from Yes or anyone else , i impore you !!

  • @morphattack implore you ! D:

  • great music!!! I love this death sequence!!

  • I see a lot of resemblence to yes-albumcovers and music.

  • @georgemargaris that's because it's the art of Roger Dean who created the Yes albumc overs. He was involved in Psygnosis in shaping the visual identity of the company, and also did the covers for the games.

  • @georgemargaris

Look up Roger Dean's artwork. It's a treat to the eyes.

  • Amiiiigggaaaa The first Shadow of the beast was better IMO

  • I remember when I played (or: when I TRIED to play) Shadow of the Beast 2 for Mega Drive I was very young, about 6 or 7 years old maybe... And I found that game VERY scary. ^^

  • So..what happened? God Said "IMAH FIERING MAH LAZAR" then killed him?o.o xD

  • @brandon2232

he failed to stop the evil mage, so he got fired..

  • @sdemon121 So The evil mage was the one that was "FIERING HIS LAZAR!" I knew it! >:D

  • @brandon2232

Nah, he took pity and made it so he doesn't have to play anymore.

  • Does anyone have the game over screen from the Sega CD version of Shadow of the Beast 2?

  • @Jac2Mac That scene, the one with Zelek teasing the child and laughing, appears on the Amiga version as a second introductory scene. They just went and reswitched it as game over scene for the Mega-CD version.

  • I could't stop dying just so as to listen to that great quitar!

  • Nice groceries!

  • ecstasy of fantasy

  • The whole saga has excellent game over's sequences, but I like most is this second part. Fully oneiric, simply beautiful.

  • The game was so incredible hard so you saw this scene a lot :)

  • Immernoch Hammer.

  • lovely memories of a time that was better than the time is now!

  • Anatomically incorrect gfx!! Sorry just kidding.

  • @thepts His musculature has been mutated by the vile necromancer!

  • @thepts still manages to look so cool though!

  • what a shame it only lasts 43 seconds, I can't believe that in the 20 years since SOtB2 was released nothing on any system has ever sounded as epic or touched me so deeply as this death scene.

The rest of the game blew fucking chunks though.

  • So if you fail to rescue your sister you get blasted with a laser beam from space? =/ Awesome music for a death scene. Fits the death theme perfectly.

  • Thanks for sharing. This ending to a death for me is the best in gaming history even today. I think that guitar solo is just awesome and it still sends a chill down my spine to this day. You almost enjoyed dying just to hear this.

  • lol i came looking for this because i remembered the music on the death screen, must be 20 years ago now :(.

  • I remember renting this game on Genesis. The last few years I've been trying to remember what game it was as I had forgotten everything about it except the game over screen.

I'm glad I finally found it again.

  • the first game where it was nice to have "game over"

  • wow, 80´s taste

  • Amazing Music, especially for the Amiga. Sounds like something from a CD, with the Guitar being so nice and clear to listen to.

I wonder if there was ever a longer version of that small track??

  • this is the death scene! music not game over

  • this made me die on purpose sometimes...

  • Is the red light his soul going to the afterlife or is he being ressurected so you can have another go at the game?

  • So let the heartaches begin,

    I can't help it I can't win,

I've lost this game for sure,

    and tears won't help anymore,

    yes let the heartaches begin,

    I can't help it I can't win,

    all my lives are gone,

and the highscore will show my name...... which is john.

Long John Baldry AKA Dr. Robotnik R.I.P.

  • ask about ten pints and never see this screen again ;)

  • gamers today wil never experiance what we did in the amiga days thats when i rerly enjoyed gameing

  • @MrAcidman25 apparently you enjoyed it more than spelling class

  • This game was so bloody hard, oh how I swore.... This, and that weird game with the flying owl (agony) are the games I'll never forget.

  • what exactly is going on in that picture?

  • Well its obvious a man is being speared by a shaft of frozen urine, dropped from one of the in game airships.

  • oh, so he's being pissed on. Well why didn't anyone say so!

  • The screen took FOREVER to load, there was no way to bypass it, and you had to see it EVERY SINGLE TIME you died - which was not exactly a rare occurance in SOTB2. So, beautiful as the music is, iconic and band-inspiring though the artwork may be, this will for me forever be associated with just wanting get back to the game and have another bloody go.

  • To this day, the one thing that comfused me about the image in the game over screen is what the hell happened to the guy. Did he get zapped, nuked, something else? Other than that, the music is awesome. Now I have yet to make a best game over theme, screen, and music ever (been busy with other shit) but when i first mentioned something about that, i forgot about this one entirely. This actually rankes up with Game Over YEAAAAAAH! and the Total Distortion's You Are Dead guitar warrior song.

  • @WeaponXSigma What I think is happening is that his soul is being released and is returning to "there" or "the place of origin". It's the best explanation I could give considering his just been killed.

  • @WeaponXSigma the picture could represent a myth on how he died coz no1 really knows. Its a mystery and maybe its supposed to look that way.

  • so powerful music and graphics, that was the Amiga.

  • Sometimes artworks and music from amiga make me sad...

  • This haunting sequence brings back so many memories for me! I used to play this game along with Golden Axe on the amiga to death in '89/'90! The Scottish death metal band Regorge put out an album some years ago and the cover was (I assume) heavily influenced by this picture! Magic stuff!

  • amiga games were like drugs

  • You mean you could buy them from a dodgy looking bloke in WH Smith? :D

  • @warlockboyburns

You should look up Roger Dean's artwork.

  • @warlockboyburns yeah....they're bad mkay

  • @lawlawlowned shhhhhhhadap.... ever played james pond?

  • @lawlawlowned ok ok

  • @warlockboyburns

    Some of the best man!

  • @warlockboyburns ...and I was an addict!

  • i would love a huge portait of this on my wall... just amazing.

  • @Darkez982 Good Call !! never thought about that, but yeah blown up to massive size, Brilliant, Its a conversation piece definately for anyone that has never seen it before !!!...

  • Esta escena estuvo guardada en mi memoria durante 20 años! muchas gracias por subirlo a youtube!

  • @joicemedia Yo llegue a grabar la cancion en un cassette y la escuchaba a menudo.

  • theres something eerry about these games maybe its the way the amiga games look or the fact i look back as kid and was freaked out

  • Quality!!!

Probably the best short sequence of any game in this era !!! Wouldn't it be nice if we all died in this mannor, by this, I mean at peace in a beautifull surreal land with a angellic organ sound complimented with a subtle yet slighly heavy guitar rift echoing across the land, signalling your immenant departure much as a fanfare signals someone specials arrival.....

  • would be a interesting way indeed!

  • brilliant...

  • I agree man, i agree @:)

  • I also think it sounds like a portent of the video-game music that we enjoy today: It sounds like on 40 second sample with a real guitar riff rather than a MIDI / Tracker tune.

  • @fosterpuggy You are absolutely right! I just assumed it was a recorded clip of a real solo rift, but now you mention it I guess it was manufactured.... oh mind you tho I think there was a snip of real sound clip on one of the Amiga Batman tunes where it had the Jokers voice say "Boy I got a Live one here!" and his laugh so it may have been recorded?, I can't find any info on it?

  • this music was taken from miami vice.

  • @Darkez982 Oh yeah, just seen it on here! Prefer this version though ;-)

  • This theme did indeed feature in small scene in Miami Vice... but the version in the game was composed in a Tracker program, and all the instruments are sequenced apart from the guitar parts which where played in small sections and then chopped up. The guitarist was one Steve Nuttall. The tune was requested by Martin Edmonson for inclusion on the game and was sent to me on a C90 cassette(!) to be copied. So I did! Only found out years later where the track had come from.

  • the music sequence was of a real guitar, if you open the mod in a tracker the guitar riff consists of about three 3 samples pieced together.

  • @CrustyBiker no, it wouldn't be nice.

  • @barisbilgegunal Oh Ok, I'm sorry you feel this way!

  • @barisbilgegunal C'mon, yes it would.

  • @CrustyBiker trying to sound like an intellectual on youtube ftl.

  • @CrustyBiker

    O_O

you must be a woman ?

  • @ALLNAMESAREALLREADYT No not really, only at the weekend when I work in the club, Lol! (Thats a Joke B.T.W)

I see you into fishing! I got two mates that are mad on it, wont stop talking about it, and talking about Terry Hearne all the time...

  • funny part is this is thee ending theme too lol

  • I heard a lot of people who played this game deliberately lost the game just to hear this music :)

  • It looks more to me like it's trying to represent his soul leaving his body.

  • Great little song, but does anyone have a definite explanation as to what exactly is happening in that picture? It's like "Aarbron got zapped by a random space lazer, the end."

  • Game over... Usually because you fell into a trap that you had no idea was coming because it was your first playthrough, lol. Great game all the same, mainly due to the music and atmosphere/graphics.

  • Awesome Guitar ending...

Big Respect for uploading this SonnyB73..

Brings back happy memories of my beloved Amiga ..

  • This and the prequel were the hardest games ever. But they look and sounded fantastic.

  • lol this was the screen you always saw - and never the ending screen!

  • lol yeah - not like EZ mode games of today

  • Never played this game, but this theme makes me thinking about days 15 years ago.

  • you will see this screen often one of the hardest games ever

  • the game over screen looks better then the ending screen...

  • Comment removed

  • GAME OVER YEAAAAAHHHHHH!!

  • To me this sounds more like works from Genesis, Yes, and Toto. Same deal with the art as well.

  • You are Damn Right it does !

Imagine seeing and hearing this like 20 years ago as a Kid !

It is one of those things just imprinted in my mind along with other great Tunes from games ..

  • I Second That Emotion

    love this tune!

  • Have you seen that watch?v=I-qaW2mLEsA ?

  • I never played the game, but this sends chills up my spine.

  • Great shot. Return to base immediately.

  • This would be amazing if you could hear this when your dead and going to heaven. However, it would suck to hear if you were going to hell instead. X D

  • Great, now I just have a mental image of the devil rremorsefully riffing out this soulful guitar tune while you fall slowly into hell.

Why must you fill my mind with amusing awesomeness?

  • I kind of wish whoever playtested SotB2 would get hit by sky lasers...

  • Lol, AGREED! Must've been a bunch of sado-masochistic playtesters.

  • Death has never looked or sounded better.

  • I think this is the reason why I kept on playing this game so much. Even the game over screen is kind of fun thanks to the awesome art and music.

BTW, even with the cheat mode this game was so hard.... makes me wonder if the end music was any good, because I never got there..

  • "ten pints" :)

also in cheat mode it was hard to finish.

  • Wonderful music! It reminds me my past! I loved this game! Thanks for posting it!

  • oh yea i remembered seeing this over and over again after i died like a Million times.

    Good times ^^
