Lonesome George is the most rare tortoise of all. Ploughshare is just a threatened species and one that should be protected, and bred indefinately.

Ploughshare's are uncommon-to-threatened, far as I believe. They aren't really in the reptile trade at ALL. You cant get ahold of them. But anyway, thats beside the point.

Lonesome George is a Galapagos Tortoise, the last of his sub-species from a certain island. They believe a female close to, or very very very related to, George's lineage, still exists on the island. Genetics have been found on hatchlings. However, the female has never been found.

Thus, George may be the last of his kind.

It does not matter about how rare they are the important part is that they should be protected and thier environment shold also be protected. And please do not get tortoises as pets this only encourages poaching and so many tortoises end up growing up in poor conditions and becoming deformed.
