My favorite line is when Khrushchev says "Then I'll have Eastern half of his Western sandwich." which, of course, was a bit of a poke at the continued Russian occupation of East Germany at the time.
Isn't it amazing how just the simple act of having lunch was skillfully turned into terrific political comedy? Thanks Vaughn Meader!!! RIP
It took years for me to understand this comedy...since I was only five years old when I first heard trhis...Now I know that what Castro says in Spanish...is Jack Kennedy's Famous line..."Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what YOU can do for your country" I love the line..."I'll just have a bite of everyone else's Sandwich" Enjoy...Ah, the age of innocence...
Haven't heard this in nearly fifty years, and here it is again (Youtube is amazing!). I'd agree with rentatrip1, seems like every household in the US did have this LP, plus you heard lots of excerpts on the radio. "Economy Lunch" was my favorite bit too.
This was the very first political Comedy LP record - it is a historic part of American culture- Look at the sales charts for this record- every household in the USA had this record-
